I just bought a 2023 Toyota Corolla LE hybrid several weeks ago (June of 2023). On the first tank of gas I babied it for break in and got over 60 mpg. 😅. My last five years I had been driving the Toyota Avalon. For my first 600 miles I have been very impressed with this car. The seating is very comfortable and it handles much better than I expected. I bought the Corolla for its efficiency and reliability and I’m a happy owner.
Great review folks. I would buy the Corolla XSE without AWD and Hybrid. Keep it simple in the engine and put in a good winter tires. Finally, Toyota Corolla became number 1 seller in Canada. Frankly, they have built quality vehicle consistently for decades. Honda Civic quality deteriorated since 2001 up to current generation.
A nice review. Thx! I was considering the hybrid Camry, but AWD isn’t available on that hybrid. Your review gives me new info to think about. I really want a hybrid and AWD - and the mileage on this Corolla is pushing into Prius territory. How does this stack up against the AWD Prius? I think this may fill the bill.
Both are stellar vehicles. We like the Prius as its driving dynamics are, to us, better, than the Corolla. There’s no wrong choice though, between these two :)

Bro. If you desire a good exterior looking car, go for the Mazda 3 sport, imo it looks so freaking cool. But people choose this Corolla hybrid AWD for specific reasons. 1. Hybrid for fuel economy. 2. AWD for Canada winter weather. I mean I agree with you that the design of this car is old fashioned, not really futuristic, but what can you ask for more for this price man.
I know it's cost more , I am just saying that Mazda also have AWD, like you mentioned people buying AWD for Canada winter weather, yeah with less fuel economy.
@@ra_mann yeah I think the debate is just about fuel efficiency&more affordable price VS cool exterior looking&high class interior details. If the gas price isn’t being ridiculous now. I definitely will choose the Mazda 3 sport
My review after a test drive: this is a car. It’ll do everything you need a car to do. It’s the Maytag appliance of cars: you just don’t think about it and it does what it does. If you get the point of this car, it’s genius. Affordable, reliable, sips gas, pretty comfortable, well behaved on our destroyed Québec roads. At a fraction of what any other AWD EV will cost you. If my calculations are correct, on a 25 000km per year base, it would take you about 38 years of use for the AWD Model 3 to become as affordable. That’s with today’s electricity prices in Québec. The government already said it’ll go way up. I ordered one. LE, as affordable as possible. And I’ll save a sh** ton of money. There, that’s my review.
Thanks for the review Jay & Steph! All your points are great but... _where in Canada can you buy one?!?_ I've been shopping around recently and dealerships are giving me estimates of _A WHOLE YEAR OR MORE in wait time!!_ Ridiculous and a dealbreaker for many, and I'm honestly a bit shocked this wasn't mentioned in the video. 😬
The supply chain is still in repair so in some cases, vehicles could be on the lot and in others, it could be over a year. We never comment on wait times as that's completely manufacturer and dealership specific.
@@Modern.Motoring Fair enough, I just personally feel that it's an important point, given that we're talking about a model that's supposed to sell in large volume, and the fact that a significant portion of Canadian Toyota dealerships seem to have had the supply problem for a long time now.
@@relsre Get a little out of GTA and you will find one that is coming in 3 months. Booked mine on July 15th and will be delivered on Oct 20. On the other hand I went to Dixie Toyota and they even didnt take the initial deposit due to the no of customers they have wanting Corolla. Spread out a little.
This car is an April Fools joke right?! It has no styling, anywhere. Look at how the designers (tried) to morph the front fenders into the (faux) aggressive front end?! Pure diarrhea. Doesn't matter it's the most reliable most efficient and cheapest of the Japanese compact cars, I owned a 2022 civic it was beautiful got decent gas milage but had its share of problems and yes civics are overpriced and the mazda 3 gets the poorest milage of the bunch but has the nicest interior... I have an awd corolla hybrid arriving next month and I'm positive i made the right choice after having owned or driven all 3 cars

Yes, I would. I love Toyota and the Corolla is affordable. I save tons on gas with the Hybrid, and I love the AWD.@@Modern.Motoring
