Stanionis should have NEVER stepped aside for Errol Spence. That was a huge mistake.

He was Errol's mandatory before he fought Ugas, but unifications trump mandatories. After Ugas he was scheduled to fight Spence again but Spence and Crawford entered into negotiations so he stepped aside only to have Crawford pull out and fight David. He should be the mandatory for who ever wins on the 29th in my opinion.
@@llaverick7739 Yup...The WBA at first was going to eliminate their "regular" belt(s) and have just one champion belt. So they was doing a mini tournament to eliminate the one belt and the last two would fight for the "real"/major belt.
I think PBC pressured the guy into stepping aside. If he didn't step aside he'd be on the shelf for two years. (my guess)
Stanionis had already beat Butaev so he was in-line to fight for the real belt.
Then he stepped aside to let Errol Spence in.(of course he got paid...they paid him more he ever made to NOT fight. )

To that end, they have ordered their champion Yordenis Ugas to face Eimantas Stanionis by January 13, 2022, and their secondary belt-holder Jamal James to face mandatory challenger Radzhab Butaev before November 2021. The winners would theoretically meet by March 2022, for the honor of being the WBA’s lone welterweight champion.
