Every time I see a video like this, it makes me homesick. There is absolutely nothing back there for me, no work, and no chance of it given the industry I'm in, no family, and no friends. But I'll never be ashamed to say, I love that place and the memories I have from that part of my life.
Wow this is stunning. I moved from the uk to Colorado and this video is reminding me of the single lane roads and foliage I haven’t seen in a few years :-) I’m expecting a pub to pop up round any corner!
If this has been recorded back in the sixties you could have filmed the coal truck going one and a half miles an hour up the hill with a dozen or more cars behind it! Beautiful video.
the landscape there is fascinating. all the cracks and crevises and backwoods you could hide in. being from florida you cant hide anywhere unless its in a swamp or palmetto brush. I imagine if you wanted to dissapear and live off the land, WV is a good choice
Agreed I grew up in Sharpless and we all would swim at Helen's trussal before the whole area was butchered. Miss growing up there. It's about as close to heaven as it gets for me anyways
I haven't been home in 5 years but this brought back a lot of memories when I work at hershaw that was my first mining job in 08.. I remember they was a beautiful girl that lived in one of them house at the head of the hollow. I'll be all day trying to think of her name now
Wish I had a dollar everytime I traveled that road including dropping down into Sharples way. I seen fog set in at the top Y all you could do was stop & turn emergency lights on get out ready run if someone didn't stop.
Mainly a coal road. What houses were there, most got bought up by coal companies and torn down. Goes from buffalo creek where a bunch of mines were up to around logan. Dont believe it is a state maintained road.
I walked from Holden, right out side Logan,WV 120 miles to queen shoals, around from clendenon, from Dutch Ridge. took three days, put me in jail for contributing to a minor, I was 18 my girlfriend of four years was 16, no charges were filed they let me go in the morning. That was in Logan jail. 1978 Its on my record for contributing, we were walking through town from Holden little mining town with a company store. I was on my way to my aunt house on dutch ridge , I told her (my girlfriend) I was leaving and she followed me, so what could I do? Anyway a black mark on my record.
It is an old two lane road over a mountain and through thick forests with a continuous double yellow lines. What is fucked up about it other than the fallen tree?

Holy shit I used to party my ass off up there. I don't even recognize it now. The tunnel or the bridge weren't there.

I get the same feeling of curiosity about what is around the next corner and I don’t have pay for gas! I love your channel!

Imagine driving that road at night and all of a sudden a fallen tree is in your lane. 😟.
Must have been a lot of storms

Dose this road lead to anywhere. A road less traveled. Lush vegetation. Spooky and yet beautiful
It eventually leads to Rt 119.
A good road to lay some serious rubber on the pavement 😆.
@@ontheroad304 wondering why it was even built. I didn't see any homes or buildings
