My interpretations of some of the changes:
10:00 So every unit on your team has linked vision, meaning that you see what creeps and towers see, other heroes see what you see, etc. And now the new mars facet unlinks the vision of any unit or building that is inside of the arena. So any unit with unlinked vision caused by the arena facet (which can now include creeps and buildings) will not share what they see to any heroes or units outside of the arena. Previously, if you arena'd a hero and a creep or building, heroes outside could still see inside the arena; because although the hero vision was unlinked, the creeps and towers would still share vision to heroes outside the arena. With this change, if mars arenas a hero with a creepwave, all units inside will have their vision unlinked to the vision of those outside the arena, disallowing them seeing into the arena as no vision is shared to the outside units.
12:55 They changed the classification of the listed interactions (that were formerly under the umbrella of forced movement) into two separate categories to limit the types of interactions that are effected by Spirit Breaker's facet, etc. Nothing in the game specifically effects forced movement that I am aware of, but the change was made to limit what is effected by things that previously effected forced movement. There are still other forced movement spells and abilities, but there is a sub-sect of knockback, which is effected by the spirit breaker facet.

Synderen is misremembering how Earth Spirit's right facet works.
Stepping Stone drops a stone *after* you finish rolling. It was better in the sense that you have twice more rocks and it's so much easier to sustain Magnetize. The problem is that it's significantly harder to do a roll into kickback because the stones are given priority when Boulder Smash is ground targeted.
The update makes it so you pretty much place 25% less stones in the fight (which doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme) but gives you more agency on doing a roll-kickback or roll-smash-silence etc.

    My notes:
    - Clockwerk facet I personally think is great, at my mmr teammates are oblivious to where to stand and timing your hook correctly can make the difference
    - For LD bear, BAT represents the theoretical maximum to attacks/second. Since BAT gets more effective with more attack speed, having a BAT reduction had very little impact early and a huge impact late. This flips it so bonus attack speed is more impactful earlier without raising the ceiling on attacks/second.
    - Lycan base damage change means it gets factored into his crit, plus-damage doesn't
    - I read Veno wards change as giving enemies 20% gold when they kill it

What I am missing in the AI conversation is one big restriction:
By design you can't retrace the decision making process that led to the result. You have control over the input and can filter the output. What happens inbetween, why the AI did what it did is not visible to us or at least extremely complex.
AI is basically a Black Box. Which makes ist inherently not suitable for use in critical systems or maybe any system that requires transparency/responsibility.
I think it has very cool and helpful uses in creative or experimental processes. But in all conversations about it I'm missing this key restriction.
If anyone has resources to dispute all this, please share them with me. We're all learning.

It seems to be that this correlates with old cultural differences. Its practically non-existant in regions with historically germanic culture whereas bidets are everywhere in historically more romanic heritage. Theyre everywhere in Italy, Spain, Protugal, a little less less common in France in my experience. Definitely agree with sunsfan tho. We have stinky anusses

Attacking the enemy twice and pressing arc once was taking 50% of their hp, shame on the enemy for thinking attack a caster and trade effectively.

About vision sharing, they're setting it up for future patches where they may give skills where vision of building is unlinked. Right now there isn't anything that would do that for buildings. For creeps, arena and NS crippling should work on them now to unlink vision

I'm 3 days late to the podcast, had a busy weekend, but as a sand king player I fully agree with the takes about the hero. Hero has been trash since ti8, other than a couple of one off weeks at the beginning of big patches before he is subsequently nerfed. And I loved Synderen's take on dagger. I tried a lot to make dust devil work with the old playstyle, but it just doesn't mesh very well. Losing your invis makes you really easy to kill if you have something like blink + shivas + part of another item. But then you do this super boring no blink build, and now we have dark seer 3.0, that trades wall and vacuum for a crap ton of stuns and a moving kill zone. You had to play so greedy, and it would pay off. I'm not a dark seer player, and I'm a fast paced offlane with the likes of axe, LC, sand king, mars, and abaddon as my offlane hero pool. This playstyle made one of my favorite heroes into such a letdown.
I love stinger because it lets you get way more CS in lane than you previously could, but it also enables a greedy playstyle since it kills creeps so well. I've tried a game of the buffed sandshroud and it feels decent. The aghs is also just inherently a cool but OP design, and it wasn't realized because any sense of viability the hero has was from getting aghs. Now its good AND has aghs, and it was so oppressive. I hope valve finds a middleground. This patch might be it, hard to say.
Sorry for the rant but I'm a big sand king player and this playstyle shift really annoyed me, and I really liked that Synderen brought up the fast paced teamfight playstyle with dagger. That is why you play SK.

  • @cheshire9646
    @cheshire9646 5 месяцев назад

I think Synderen kind of missed the mark on Sand King. Blaming the nerfs on problems with invis at low level doesn't really have to do with the nerf, which is mainly aimed at the non invis facet. From watching some high level streams, it seems like that facet was a problem there too. like a better kunka waterpark. just constant huge area control (100% uptime) that could move with the teamfight. this came together with crazy farming speed by coupling the moving sandstorm with the new overpowered stinger ability so you also come online very fast, and tank up way faster than the opponents can deal with. I have mixed feelings about the level of the nerf, but it was excessive as it was, and not only for heralds who haven't discovered dust.
In terms of changing the hero identity - I think this is one of the great things about how dynamic dota is. Some more seasoned players have some romanticized idea about dota in their mind and like the hero identity to stay the way they are used to. From a gameplay perspective however, this is a great way to freshen up the game. Changing the way the hero operates and which items they buy as part of the everchanging meta is part of what keeps dota fresh. The challenge is to figure it out before the curve. that is what makes watching innovative players like Topson exciting. However, putting a cowboy hat on a bear is obviously crossing a dangerous line...

I was having fun playing Zeus, he was OP to be honest, but this nerf just might make him un-viable with the shard build. Why not just rework the shard to give percentage chance or something. These random exception live preventing illusions from proc-ing the shard makes DoTA feel random rather than based on mechanics.

hero's have become too mobile.. compared to the past... almost all new abilities involve a movement and add in a hero mobility characteristic to the game. which has made more static hero's like SF and SK fall off because they rely and static fighting in one area.

Often highly intelligent people in specialised roles are really, really stupid in things outside their field. I dealt with lots of doctors, who were often leaders in their profession and amazingly smart people, but they were utterly terrible at many things that were simple common sense or blindingly obvious. I guess their entire world revolves around their specialism and leaves little room for broader knowledge.
The internet has generally been good, but social media has not, and the flooding of the internet with bots and LLM comments will make things exponentially worse.
