What's really pathetic and disgusting is that absolutely nothing happens to companies that refuse to take customer data protection seriously and are constantly getting hacked, and it's up to us to take action. Many of these breaches aren't revealed by companies until months after they happen. I have to freeze my credit and pay for a service to keep an eye on my credit, which is ridiculous. Companies should be heavily fined and held responsible by the government when they're hacked. It's time for consumers to be protected!
My husband and I were victims of identity theft in 2016. We have had our credit frozen since then. Every time I turn around we get a notification that our data was breached on a website! There is absolutely nothing anyone can do to prevent the breaches, however you can freeze your credit so that no one can open a line of credit in your name. Also, I have already done most of what they recommend in this video.
I’m sorry that I didn’t reply sooner. I would like to add this: We have only did credit freezes on all 3 credit bureaus, and had to add a fraud alert to the credit bureaus as well. If you do the credit freeze, it should be permanent, only thaw when you need to apply for credit which you can specify the date you want to thaw and refreeze. The fraud alert was done this year because of the massive data breach that just happened to us. Its temporary. If you specifically want to know about locking your credit cards, I apologize but I have not done that so I can’t speak on that topic…Good Luck and I hope you at least freeze your credit!
Assume everything of yours is on there and act accordingly. Freeze your credit with all 3 credit agencies. Check your bank and credit card statements each month. Set up notifications on your financial accounts. Do NOT upload your license to get back into your FB account. You don't need FB and you don't want to trust them with a photo of your license🙄

It was rude of you guys and we waste our time waiting for a segment and watching your show and trying to take notes or listen, and even when we listen to it on RUclips, we cannot make out what the expert said because you were talking over them so we didn’t hear you or them. That did happen during part of the segment. I tried using close captioning to actually hear what the expert said, but the close captioning couldn’t hear it either.
I agree. I did catch the part where she stated to create a pass phase and throw in a couple of numbers and characters. She failed to mention that you should also use upper and lower case letters.

You're credit should be frozen 100% of the time, and it's free. It's simple to unlock it when you need to perform a hard credit check.
