When he sung I'll be ur Dixie chicken if you'll be my Tennessee lamb and we'll walk together down in Dixie land... Favorite part anyone out there with me?
This song always sucks me in. I try showing it to people but they don’t pay enough attention to hear it. If they can only experience what a lot of us feel from this song. The tones and the way he sings and that violin and high note bass lines along with the marching drums and baritone sax it’s so dreamy.
I was at this concert. I remember it was early summer, and it had rained for all the opening acts. I believe Wyclef Jean was one, and I think he filled in for someone else. As the sun went down over the mountains, the clouds cleared as Dave Mathews Band started to play. Truly a great experience!
@@sunny83RN haha!!!! So sad to lose grux so untimely and tragically. My advice as a fan for 23 years (I was eleven) is to go back from the start, listen to their early stuff. The magnitude of this band, their lyrics and ability to create relatable music that transcends generations, stereotypes, time..... There isn't enough I can say about them but that they are truly a gift and a legendary act. If you have a chance, see them live this summer. That is an experience like no other. Nobody puts on a show like these guys. Dave is from South Africa and it comes out in some of the music, look up the AOL sessions, they touch on it and LM speaks of it about Dave. Also read the Rolling Stones article, "The Devil in Dave Matthews." It really tells you so much about how humble, relatable and deep this man is. They will go down in history as legends. This band has literally saved my life on so many occasions and I don't say that lightly. In my darkest hours, they've given me hope and light.
@@ashleyolsen4547 Hello Ashley! Its been a while...I am still on my Dave Matthews journey and so far...its been amazing! Every recording I find at LEAST four songs that are incredible, from the early stuff to the most recent one Come Tomorrow. I really wish I had the opportunity to see them during the start of the 2000s. They are going to be in Tinley Park over the summer-man I wish Leroi were still alive.
I was so into a girl many years ago when I was 25ish.. and the Dixie chicken Tennessee lamb part makes me recall. It’s not in all crash into me versions I think
Thebutterflydreamer1 3 years ago His music is beautiful and I love it but then I am a hopless Romantic.lol, lol tHANKS FOR POSTING.-Namaste I would say... It is not "His" music. It is "their" music. "He" built this band.
Have you ever heard the song by Little Feat that he was quoting. I would recommend the live version from "Feats from Columbus" Live. That version is truly amazing. Not to say that the way he incorporated these words properly.....but it was truly an amazing album and performance of said song.
I regret I didn't attend this concert. I lived right near Boulder at the time and Folsom Field is an awesome place for concerts. Given the time and place, and the feeling of that time and place, this must have been a truly amazing concert.
Yep your voice really has to have a wide scale to hit all the notes in any of Dave's songs. My own brother is named Dave, and used to be a church choir member, tenor, but is now most likely bass and singing songs to his wife in bed. I also love another singer Dave, David Bowie. I cried my eyes out when I learned he was physically gone from Earth.
The line "I will be your Dixie Chicken if you'll be my Tennessee Lamb; We can walk together, down in Dixie Land" is from the band Little Feat, but the song name is "Dixie Chicken".

Bliss. Better times.
first haha go DAVE
For that line, check out Little Feat. I think the song is 'Dixie Land'.
