Alright, Demon's Souls is one of my favorite games of all time and since I can't find any other comments about it I'll explain the Adjudicator. To start with, it's important to note the level in which you find it and what went on there. The Shrine of Storms was a place where the tribe of Shadowmen conducted rituals by which they would more or less "process" the souls of the dead and then use those souls as an offering to their deity - The Storm King. Each boss in the world was a key figure in this "soul processing" ritual. To start with before explaining its role, the Adjudicator is not the big fat man. The Adjudicator is the crow itself. The big fat man is just a flesh puppet prepared for it so it could do it's duties. That duty being to examine new bodies brought to shrine and judge whether they were worthy sacrifices for the Storm King or not. Those that were deemed worthy were passed on to be offered to the Storm Ruler at the shrine below, while those that were deemed unworthy were eaten by the Adjudicator as a form of ritual cleansing, making sure that both the body and soul of the deceased were safely dealt with rather than being allowed to roam as vengeful spirits. That's why the Adjudicator's body wields meat cleavers that steal the life from enemies they hit, it's designed to consume both body and soul of those it devours. This ultimately turned the Adjudicator into a Demon, since in the world of Demon's Souls a "demon" is any being that is able to gain power by absorbing the souls of others into its own being. When the Shadowmen died out the Adjudicator lost its purpose as a being of judgement and instead devolved into one of gluttony and greed, consuming anything that came into it's reach rather than doing it's duty judiciously.
I never played Demon Souls, but it's interesting you said they did rituals to 'The Storm King' as that's a character from the lore but doesn't actually appear, in Elden Ring. I wonder if they could be related, FromSoft do like to cross characters over like Patches, Irina etc
That's exactly what it is. The demon controlling it obviously took an old heroes body, y'know seeing as SOS is where the old heroes were all buried , possessed it and the actual adjudicator itself is trapped at the top of a rotting, demon possessed corpse. pretty obvious stuff imo but then again, I play those games way too much.
Well yeah, i'm pretty sure it's like a parasite that controls a big corpse so you're technically fighting the bird but can only reach it if the body falls over. Also I don't know how the sword sticking out of its gut could confuse him, the implication is obviously that before you showed up it had fought with someone else who stuck it there and injured it's otherwise super tough skin, pretty much suggesting that they were stronger than you because if you don't smack the wound it's basically immune to your attacks.
@@DajuOnRUclips Pure conjecture as I'm yet to play Demon's Souls but couldn't the sword in the gut indicate that the bird took control of a deceased body? Or is there something in the lore to dispute that?

If it's a shrine guardian meant to test the demon slayers and they fail so he eats them it could be a combo with pride. Probably safer for your own sanity that way.
I think you may be on to something (or possibly ON something). LSD, 'shrooms, real good ganja... sometimes you need a break that a KitKat won't provide, unless it's laced with copious amounts of cocaine or other various stimulants. Lack of sleep, however, seems like the most logical explanation. I've seen stuff, unexplainable stuff, due to my inability to sleep properly. Mix that in with massive amounts of stress and coffee, or other simulants, and you got yourself a cocktail of commotion for the brain. Those devs put up with way more than they should!
In the 1987 Star Wars game you fight Darth Vader very early in the game. Except after one hit that "Darth Vader" turns into a scorpion that you then have to fight
8:54 One correction: The F-6t Big Foot is actually piloted by a GUN Scorpion Troop, not Dr. Eggman. Another Ridiculous Boss from the Sonic series that I remember is the Egg Dealer from Shadow The Hedgehog: A pilotable machine with slot machines reels that if player knows when to attack, the attacks will be directed to the machine itself.
Dark souls fan: no, wait, these bosses are fully explained with the lore you missed on 234 items lying in 20 different locations that totally described them with one-sentenced abstract poetry
Recently came back to this because I remembered a really out of there boss. In the game Radiata Stories, a JRPG for the PS2, there is a boss in the secret dungeon that is just completely out of place. So the dungeon is themed on the different elements of the game Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind. At the end of each section you fight an elemental dragon. When you beat all four you unlock a new path which leads you to a 'hidden' dragon. At first you may think it is the Silver Dragon or maybe the Gold Dragon, it is neither. You find Radian. Radian is a 2D dragon that literally was created by a child. It is also one of the harder bosses of the game. It has belly flop attacks and attacks with speech bubbles. Radiata Stories isn't necessarily a serious game but this is one of the fights that really came out of left field. I will also mention the Gabriel boss fight in a later hidden dungeon but that is more awkward than batshit insane.
The weirdest i've ever seen is Rokkaku Goji in JSRF. I mean, he starts the game off as a businessman and ends as some kind of interdimensional robot. Who built him, was there ever a real Goji or was it always the robot, and how is he able to construct a massive mind-control tower/interdimensional portal in the middle of the shibuya bus terminal without either the Japanese government or some other organization taking notice and stopping him? Just, some kind of explanation as to what this guy was would have been greatly appreciated.
Yep jet set radio was just as weird You fight atop of a building sized turntable with go go cages for needles and the bad guy in a DJ booth in the centre on top of a skyscraper with Rino heads on forks tea baging up and down in the background while huge speakers blast out a very ominous track While you get set on fire by a giant fire breathing Rino in a tee shirt that flys around between buildings That explodes after taging three roof tops connected by huge rotating cams or arms Who's dismembered body parts make a ramp to grind up and tag the big bad guy DJ who is in the centre of the turntable who instantly falls off the roof top into the abyss And all this is because of an Indy record called the devil's contract that's not even supernatural I think that's about it 🤣
I have no idea what you’re talking about, but from your description and how you’re talk about it I can tell it was one of the most bizarre shit in gaming history.
That boss in Kingdom Hearts used to have me HOT back in the day 😂 I never played a Final Fantasy game then so I had no idea why that thing looked the way it did nor why it was so many steps to beating it
Some of the Castlevania bosses over the years have been completely bonkers. Especially when the final form of Dracula has him turn into some kind of weird trippy alien that takes up the whole screen.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Monster Party for the NES. Except it's not just the bosses, but the entire game itself is an unexplained wtf. You fight a dancing jack o lantern, a well, a minotaur that shoots running cows at you, an already dead dinosaur with flies buzzing around that immediately gives you the reward, a giant deep fried shrimp that just hops around. That's just the bosses I remember, but also the levels, enemies, story and ending are all massive WTFs
Admittedly this might be a bit of a nitpick on my part, but considering where you encounter the swordipede seems more likely to be one of Hojos creations which likely means it's mako and/or biotech based one way or another, and having played most of the 7 series, yea lol not the craziest thing Hojos done/made. You could look at Hojo as "Shin-ra" but if you really follow the story hojo was always about his agenda, he even openly mocks the Shin-ra execs. That said, love you guys keep up the awesome work Falcon
Sonic 1's final boss definitely wasn't that memorable as say, the Death Egg Robot, Metal Sonic from Heroes, Egg dragoon from Unleashed, or pretty much every other boss in the series. But it was the 1st game, so I'm thankful the bosses got better with each game.
I missed the "Hip Hop Boss" from "Skullmonkeys" ! :D A Hip Hop Head with a Skull on his Head shooting fire and his eyes at you with monkey feeds and sounds :D
Mara is based off of one of the Demon's that tempts the buddha, specifically when it comes to sexual desire. The demon actually shares the same name and the "phallus shaped head" with the Shin Megami Tensei enemy (which is one of the reoccurring ones btw).
The first thing that popped in my mind was Cerberus from Dante's Inferno. Cerberus is usually a three headed dog in mythology. But this is some sort of three headed creature that has giant mouths with huge teeth and no resemblance to a dog at all. Also where it should have eyes, it just has more small mouths. So yeah, that was weird. In a game full of some pretty weird bosses.
I think the final boss (God of Destruction) from an old game called "Legend of Dragoon" is without a doubt the most confusing boss design I've ever encountered...in terms of looks, the mechanics of the fight, and even the location(s?) where the fight takes place. To explain the details would take a lot of writing, but there are so many strange things about that final boss that come out of nowhere, make 0 sense, and never get any explanation. I don't think the devs even knew wtf they were trying to do with that one lol.
He's remaking the universe lol it's batshit, but it is explained, also on the Persona 5 dick, that's also pretty easy to get, again it's still batshit, but the battiness is one of the things I love about those games haha.
@@nerdrocker89 Where does the game say he's remaking the universe? I've beat it like 8 times, and never found any explanation for the boss changing forms/scenery 4x, nor any explanation for what the various "generations" are, why they're changing, or what that even means.
@@themetalone7739 it's discussed throughout the game the big bad's desires to remake the universe in their own image. I could be remembering it wrong since I haven't played it since I played it over 20 years ago.
@@alwaysxnever Melbu Frahma's goal was to release the God of Destruction so it could destroy the world, which could then be remade in whatever way the villain wanted. Immediately after the fight, the entire party AND boss are suddenly shown in the normal world (which would be impossible if the villain just remade the universe/world) followed by the boss exploding while everyone else rushes out of the fallen moon before it blows up. We are then treated to cut-scenes showing the heroes returning home, and their "happily ever after" moments, which also couldn't happen if the world had been remade in the villain's image. It's more like the boss is trying to show us something during the fight, maybe flashbacks of the development of the world, but even that doesn't quite make sense, in context.
this may sound a little random, but i like how the huge hermit is not only considered the strangest boss in metal slug, but ever since their collaboration with battle cats has been considered the single worst uber super rare unit in the entire game.
At 4:20 into this video, I felt so old b/c I remember playing Metal Slug 3 & being not only very confused but also very frustrated with the giant hermit crab tank thing haha.
If you want to do regular enemies, Anvil of Dawn pretty much needs an entry all to itself: Giant apes that collapse into body parts when you defeat them, bloodless and melted corpses trying to beat you to death with their own bones (the blood is also up walking around trying to kill you), and baby heads with spider-legs that lash you with their acidic tongues
I always found the fight against Palmer in FF7 kinda weird. You have fought gigantic beasts and killer robots up to that point and now here is a old, chubby, politician with a weird gun for a boss. Okay then...
FromSoftware games had many bosses I couldn't believe when first seeing them: Centipede Demon (DS1): Giant Demon with huge centipedes as it's head, arms, and legs. Demon of Song (DS2): Singing frog with human skull under it's face Curse-Rotted Greatwood(DS3): A tree with limbs Fire Giant (Elden Ring): Red head giant with a cyclops face on it's belly that can vomit lava.
Not that the whole game isn't weird and almost entirely inexplicable without the help of a wiki, Nier: Automata has an...interesting...final boss: the ending credits. At the end of the game you are in an Atari Asteroids-style shmup where you are fighting glowing orbs made out of the credited team names. More interesting still is that you can request the assistance of other players who have sacrificed their save games, then leaving you with the option to do the same.
At least Mara was in a game that was about fighting abstractions of peoples' inner demons inside a dream world. Within that framework, nothing is really out of bounds no matter how batshit.
Looking at Swordipede, I'd argue it's used for mining/lumber! Maybe it's light anti-grav, or perhaps some sort of helium/light gas in each of the central components... *think, muse, ponder*
With the FF7 stuff, I mean for all that we know the machines could be powered by some unique materia. The world of the game might feel real, but they have something we don't, magic.
The Adjudicator might be an Inu Yasha reference if I am not completely mistaken. There also was a bird demon nesting inside a giant's corpse relatively at the beginning of the series.
Metal Slug will be forever the definitive shoot-em up game for me. Me and my brothers played the heck out of these games and the wacky tone of it is a major part of it.
Alright, Demon's Souls is one of my favorite games of all time and since I can't find any other comments about it I'll explain the Adjudicator.

That's why the Adjudicator's body wields meat cleavers that steal the life from enemies they hit, it's designed to consume both body and soul of those it devours.

But again, I don't get paid as that guy/girl's psychotherapist. I'd probably be much better off if I did though. (I'd hate to see that bill; it'd make me jealous)
7 - copious amounts of LSD. That's all I got. How else would you make a hermit crab feel ten feet tall? o. O maybe we should just ask Alice? But then raccoons might get involved...
I think the harder you look at the rest; the closer you get to the abyss. So I throw my hands up. I don't think you're supposed to look for an explanation for some of these Devs' ideas.
Probably safer for your own sanity that way.
😅👍🏼
I think you may be on to something (or possibly ON something). LSD, 'shrooms, real good ganja... sometimes you need a break that a KitKat won't provide, unless it's laced with copious amounts of cocaine or other various stimulants.
Lack of sleep, however, seems like the most logical explanation. I've seen stuff, unexplainable stuff, due to my inability to sleep properly. Mix that in with massive amounts of stress and coffee, or other simulants, and you got yourself a cocktail of commotion for the brain. Those devs put up with way more than they should!
i thought this was vaatividya
My actual boss needs an explanation too.
😅
In the 1987 Star Wars game you fight Darth Vader very early in the game. Except after one hit that "Darth Vader" turns into a scorpion that you then have to fight
8:54 One correction: The F-6t Big Foot is actually piloted by a GUN Scorpion Troop, not Dr. Eggman.
Another Ridiculous Boss from the Sonic series that I remember is the Egg Dealer from Shadow The Hedgehog: A pilotable machine with slot machines reels that if player knows when to attack, the attacks will be directed to the machine itself.
I played shadow the hedgehog ad I can confirm that boss is weird
i think that these surreal bosses are my favorite part about these games, they need more of these
The guardian ape, once it’s head is off it’s the headless ape, WTF lol 😂
Dark souls fan: no, wait, these bosses are fully explained with the lore you missed on 234 items lying in 20 different locations that totally described them with one-sentenced abstract poetry
Get this man a pinned comment!
Every video can’t be a winner, but I appreciate the effort y’all put into new videos.
Man, The psycho mantis controller slot swap thing in MGS1 stands out to me.
Glad to have you back Frank. Missed you!
> Mentions Mario Odyssey
> Doesn't discuss that Mario fights a legitimately normal dragon
Mara from the Shin Megami Tensei games is exactly what it looks like.
Yep jet set radio was just as weird
You fight atop of a building sized turntable with go go cages for needles and the bad guy in a DJ booth in the centre
on top of a skyscraper
with Rino heads on forks tea baging up and down in the background while huge speakers blast out a very ominous track
While you get set on fire by a giant fire breathing Rino in a tee shirt that flys around between buildings
That explodes after taging three roof tops connected by huge rotating cams or arms
Who's dismembered body parts make a ramp to grind up and tag the big bad guy DJ who is in the centre of the turntable who instantly falls off the roof top into the abyss
And all this is because of an Indy record called the devil's contract that's not even supernatural
I think that's about it 🤣
@@bluejayfabrications2216 HA! I'll have to take your word for it, i never played the original, but i have no problems believing that.
I have no idea what you’re talking about, but from your description and how you’re talk about it I can tell it was one of the most bizarre shit in gaming history.
That boss in Kingdom Hearts used to have me HOT back in the day 😂 I never played a Final Fantasy game then so I had no idea why that thing looked the way it did nor why it was so many steps to beating it
I feel you bruh never played ff b4 then either
I really love seeing bosses like this
👌🏼👍🏼
Great content love watching your content
I always play gameranx video and sleep. It's a habit and I can't sleep without listening to falcon's voice.
Alway funny content lol great ending 👌
Thanks
Re: Mara from SMT. "It's nuts" No, not nuts, but you're close.
Thank you so much for including dumb drum. Haha I have forgot about that boss. So ridiculous
I've literally never heard of the Statue Of Liberty boss fight until now. That's amazing!
The persona boss had me laughing when you accordingly said yeah it's nuts. 🤣🤣
I love when boss designs don't make sense yet just works. It feels more like a fantasy game at that point.
I love ur videos man😭
Admittedly this might be a bit of a nitpick on my part, but considering where you encounter the swordipede seems more likely to be one of Hojos creations which likely means it's mako and/or biotech based one way or another, and having played most of the 7 series, yea lol not the craziest thing Hojos done/made.
Sonic's 1 first boss fight is more memorable than the final one XD
Did not even know that wario world was a game lol, good stuff!
This video will become a source for my time pass. Good job
I missed the "Hip Hop Boss" from "Skullmonkeys" ! :D
A Hip Hop Head with a Skull on his Head shooting fire and his eyes at you with monkey feeds and sounds :D
"It's nuts"
I see you Falcon. Pun approved 🤣
Mara is based off of one of the Demon's that tempts the buddha, specifically when it comes to sexual desire. The demon actually shares the same name and the "phallus shaped head" with the Shin Megami Tensei enemy (which is one of the reoccurring ones btw).
How dare you question Metal Slug logic, Canon Doomsday Hermit Crab is the least of your problem, when later you fights satan, in an aztec temple
your awesome bro keep going❤❤
The fact that you mentioned Seaman...
I still play that game to this very day....
I don't know why tho 😂
"They make a good point of showing that ff7 takes place in a realistic setting."
You can summon a half naked woman who shoots ice
😂
What, you don't shoot ice when you're half naked as well? It's just me, then.
The crab just kills me 😹
12:15 You should've save that "Nope" meme for when you said "Obviously we don't need to say a lot about this."
@@themetalone7739 They explain the moon has weird properties in the game, it makes as much sense as ff7's supernova move, so none lol.
This type of video is my favorite
Describing phallic boss, yeah its' nuts......lol nice one Falcon.
I can’t believe you included Winter Windster 😭😭 literally the first boss that came to mind when I clicked on this video
Yo love the channel
❤️
Swordipede flies using the magnetic field. Kinda like an Asiatic Dragon. Great content Bruh.
I’m glad to see Metal Slug 3 get a shoutout ❤️🥺 brings back a lot of memories
And speaking of phallic boss battles. I can't help but to think of Scrotus Scabbus from Mad Max....who should have also been on this list
this may sound a little random, but i like how the huge hermit is not only considered the strangest boss in metal slug, but ever since their collaboration with battle cats has been considered the single worst uber super rare unit in the entire game.
I'm happy they mentioned one of my favorites childhood arcade shooters
Ummmmm yeah, those are all weird for SURE! Thanks for the video, Falcon!
Commenting to show my appreciation and help the algorithm
At 4:20 into this video, I felt so old b/c I remember playing Metal Slug 3 & being not only very confused but also very frustrated with the giant hermit crab tank thing haha.
If you want to do regular enemies, Anvil of Dawn pretty much needs an entry all to itself: Giant apes that collapse into body parts when you defeat them, bloodless and melted corpses trying to beat you to death with their own bones (the blood is also up walking around trying to kill you), and baby heads with spider-legs that lash you with their acidic tongues
Video idea: How to be a dedicated, original and awesome YT channel like Gameranx
Many of these are long, phallic, snake-like creatures. Gotcha. 😂
The bonus at the end: "Throbbing King of Desire". I'm done. 😄😅
contra games are so underrated and dont get enough love
Gameranx nice video.
Thanks king
Love these videos, I watch them before bed every night. The throbbing king of desire, they hit that right on the head(hehe).
👍🏼 Thanks for watching.
😏 heh heh!
I always found the fight against Palmer in FF7 kinda weird.
You have fought gigantic beasts and killer robots up to that point and now here is a old, chubby, politician with a weird gun for a boss.
Okay then...
FromSoftware games had many bosses I couldn't believe when first seeing them:
Centipede Demon (DS1): Giant Demon with huge centipedes as it's head, arms, and legs.
Demon of Song (DS2): Singing frog with human skull under it's face
Curse-Rotted Greatwood(DS3): A tree with limbs
Fire Giant (Elden Ring): Red head giant with a cyclops face on it's belly that can vomit lava.
Strikers 1945 bosses are the weirdest that I've personally played
Not that the whole game isn't weird and almost entirely inexplicable without the help of a wiki, Nier: Automata has an...interesting...final boss: the ending credits. At the end of the game you are in an Atari Asteroids-style shmup where you are fighting glowing orbs made out of the credited team names. More interesting still is that you can request the assistance of other players who have sacrificed their save games, then leaving you with the option to do the same.
yep. also the final bosses from Drakengard-1. it's uuugh. something you should see
5:56 The rainbow fish gave away its shiny silver scale.
For a list about ridiculous bosses, there's an alarming lack of "Cho Aniki"
I love you, Falcon😍😍😍😍
❤️
At least Mara was in a game that was about fighting abstractions of peoples' inner demons inside a dream world. Within that framework, nothing is really out of bounds no matter how batshit.
It's not sarcophagous head. It's sacrophageous head. Sacrophageous basically translate to "religion eater"
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest also had Kleever, the floating sword.
Finaly Metal Slug gets some respect
I really liked the last boss for Kingdom Hearts 1. It was really fun to me and was just wild.
Looking at Swordipede, I'd argue it's used for mining/lumber! Maybe it's light anti-grav, or perhaps some sort of helium/light gas in each of the central components... *think, muse, ponder*
The boss Vicus from Clive Barker's Jericho is fkn wild
Why don’t people talk about that game anymore?
Why did he have to say that word 😂12:21 that boss design is craaaaazy how do these developers get away with this
With the FF7 stuff, I mean for all that we know the machines could be powered by some unique materia. The world of the game might feel real, but they have something we don't, magic.
Ayy you figured out chapters without spoilers. Thanks.
Falcon is a cute bird ^w^
Great video! Was hoping to see the final boss in Mass Effect 2. Great final mission, but weird boss that kinda belittles the story
