    All puppets in order:
    1st Puppet (The one with the Scythe): Anthony Crawford. Wealthy South Carolina farmer in post-Civil War America. Got into an argument with a store owner over the price of seed he was trying to sell. Left the store and while leaving, was attacked. Managed to escape. A lynch mob soon gathered (many people hated him for his race, wealth, prideful attitude or a combination of the three) and attacked him at his cotton mill, killing him with a knife and taking his corpse to a fairground where his body was destroyed by the mob who used it for target practice.
    2nd Puppet (The one with the bicycle): George Stinney Jr. Arrested in the 1940s when he was FOURTEEN for the murders of two white girls aged 11 and 7. Was given an unfair trial and executed in the electric chair. In 2014, he was declared innocent due to the unfair trial he received.
    3rd Puppet (The one dragged by the truck): James Byrd Jr. Vacuum cleaner salesman who was beaten and murdered when three white supremacists tied him up, hooked him to the back of a truck and dragged him for over three miles. Two of the supremacists were later executed for the crime, the third received a life sentence.
    The other two puppets can be explained by watching the movie.
    Thought I'd leave this here for anyone curious. Thank you for reading.

    I quite like that no character is billed as "The Candyman". It's Sherman Fields, Anthony McCoy, and Daniel Robitaille. Not only does it reinforce the idea that there is no one Candyman but rather many serving as a symbol of generational trauma, it also reminds us that they were real, genuine people long before their lives were cut short.

    When I first watched Candyman in theatres I enjoyed the movie. I like how it delivered a strong message of all that has, and still is, happening with the hate crimes of the colored communities and white supremacy. I also liked how they did shadow puppets to tell their stories in the movie and in the end credits, also giving it a creepy scary vibe for a horror flick.
    Another thing I liked about this Candyman movie was that how it delivers that Candyman isn’t just one person but a whole ‘Hive.’ How it all began with Daniel Robitallie, to George Stinny Jr, James Byrd Jr, even Sherman Fields and Anthony McCoy. It’s an endless cycle of how hate crimes killed these people and made them become spiritual monsters of vengeance on the people who wronged them.
    There were two strong quotes that William said in the movie that had so much power in them that it made sense what is happening around.
    “They love what we make, but not us”
    “Candyman is how we deal with the fact that these things happen, that they’re STILL happening!”
    Overall I enjoyed the movie Candyman, people may have their opinions of it and I respect that.
    Plus I’m glad that Vanessa Williams was back playing Anne-Marie McCoy in the movie. And Tony Todd made an appearance even if it was at the end. As well as Virgina Madsen with Helen Lyle’s voice in a recording in one part of the movie.

    The Main 3 Candymen that are the most terrifying are; Anthony Crawford, James Byrd Jr. and George Stinney Jr.
    WHY?
    According to Adam Patterson’s Comment with More Facts Added;
    Also keep in mind how Sherman Fields looks as a Candyman, his face is horrifically swollen and his eyes are bloodshot corresponding to being beaten to death by the police;
    Anthony Crawford - If his body was indeed used for target practice and mutilated beyond belief, imagine what he would look like AS a Candyman, possibly a terrifying mutilated walking corpse with the scythe he carried as his “hook”.
    James Byrd Jr. - Before he was dragged for three miles, they spray painted his face, urinated and defecated on him, his torture came to end about halfway along the road of his dragging, when his right arm and head were severed when his body hit a culvert, now imagine how horrific he would look coming back as a Candyman; as you can see in the puppet show, half the skin of his head his missing, exposing his skull, teeth and eyeball.
    and FINALLY,
    George Stinney Jr. - As you can see in the puppet show, he is a 14 year-old child (and the youngest of the hive) riding a bike with the hook in his hand, when he was executed for the crime he didn’t commit, his face was allegedly burned beyond recognition, his legend would be the most terrifying to both children and their parents if he came back with a deformed head and face (due to the electrocution), we don’t think anyone would want to go outside at night if you hear that he “still wonders the sidewalks at night” riding same bike he rode when he was alive looking to take a child away from their parents like they took him away from HIS.
    Think about that.

      @@rithikdhakshnamoorthy2974
      No.3 = James Byrd Jr. - It would be an absolute horrifying experience to have visions and nightmares of a horrifically and brutally dismembered corpse that is able to remove his head (since that was the result of his body hitting a culvert) on top of having a putrid unbearable smell of feces since he was defecated on aside from his terrifying disfigured face, persistently haunting you to be his next victim.
      No.2 = Anthony Crawford - Same as the above, only he is a horrifically mutilated walking corpse with a scythe, imagine seeing him in a nightmare, it would be nerve-wracking to try and sleep at night.
      No.1 = George Stinney Jr. - Because he may haunt anyone with children since he is a child himself, looking to lure away their children at night and never to be seen again due to the fact that he was falsely accused of committing that exact crime, that would be heart-wrenchingly terrifying, especially to ANYONE who is a parent, overall, he's the most terrifying as child murders leave a devastating impact.

I’m white and I’m scared of them. On behalf of my race may I say sorry for the disrespect those who bear my colors have shown to the black community. I can’t deny that Black people back then had it rough. While I do feel bad for them, people these days, use it as an excuse to why they should be treated differently.
    Never in our wildest dreams, could we understand the suffering that some blacks endured in the past. But what history class hasn’t taught you (maybe), was that at one point, a black man owned black slaves. His name was Anthony Johnson (look him up).
    What amazes me, is that I never knew he existed, until I read about him, and the fact I was never told about him in school, tells me that we were almost lied to.
    From what life has taught me, just because you’re different, doesn’t mean you get a pass to be treated differently, even when you could be related to someone in history. There’s already enough problems in the world, and we don’t need more.

    So, I guess Daniel is craftier and Freddy-like than we thought. He had these souls and incidents as back up plans I suppose just in case his main method of surviving failed. Like people won't remember the same story exact so why not just piggy-back on others? It fits how cruel he became after death as it seems like these other people are just fuel for him.

    • @RacCkhn
      @RacCkhn Год назад +2

      Perhaps it's not that simple. Lynchings and Race crimes happen perpetually in America. The first Candyman seeing that as the case could have just decided to let the story be reborn in other victims, but I doubt the first Candyman wanted more race crimes to happen so he can stay around. I think he saw a opportunity to reincarnate himself threw the unfortunate circumstances of perpetual violence against black people. That's the movie's message, violence and trauma can be like a cycle that keeps revolving around, the next one up being the modern day Candyman Anthony McCoy

    Eric Garner, George Floyd, Treyvon Martin, Breonna Taylor. I'm glad they weren't included but if you wanted to know a glimpse, read on. Just to be clear, this what I gathered on my own so if it is wrong, please correct me.
    Eric Garner was killed on tape, but the tape that was submitted was redeemed inadmissible.
    George Floyd was accused of using counterfiet money, shortly after his arrest he was pinned down with the offer's knee atop his body, leading George Floyd to suffocate and die on the scene.
    Treyvon Martin was walking with his father home and unfortunately was fatally shot to which his killer, Zimmerman, pleaded in self-defense despite the fact that all that was in Martin's pockets were a bag of skittles, a lighter, and headphones.
    Breonna Taylor was fatally shot when police forced entry into her home for investigating drug dealing operations.
