Coming back to this a year later and you can see exactly why the Wild are where they are today. What a GM and man Billy G is.

Today is March 21, 2022. The Wild, under Guerin's direction, have acquired future HOF goalie Marc-Andre Fluery. And made a few other trade deadline moves. Time will tell if these take the Wild beyond their typical first round playoff exit. But so far, Guerin's work has paid off with a successful season.

Let's see what he can do as a GM before we plan a parade for him.

Trav Zimmerman lmao I never said anything about planning a parade for him, nor am I that stupid or naive to think the Wild are anywhere close yet. But his moves have been solid so far, the few moves he’s made. I was just commenting on his personality and overall demeanor. I’d go through a brick wall for him.

Sounds like he told Koivu he will not be returning to MN. That's a great start!!!!!!!! He needs to do the same with Galchenyuk as the Wild have a plethora of 4th line Centres. I'd like to seen him extend Brodin and package a trade deal Dumba +(Greenway or Donato) + pick for a legit Centre then find another on in Free Agency (Granlund maybe?) Centre is the biggest need IMO. Someone needs to open-hand slap Fenton (wherever she is) for that Zuccarello signing. 🍻

    • @FriendlyNeighboorhoodWildFan

Trav Zimmerman I like Galchenyuk and thought overall he played really well at center even though he had a lousy showing in the play in round, and I would be willing to see him on a one year deal. I wouldn’t sign Granlund, especially since we’ve seen him at center before, and while solid, he didn’t take off until he moved to wing, and I like Galchenyuk at center over Granlund a lot more. But that’s just me. As for Brodin/Dumba, I really don’t want to see either go, and I would think carefully before trading either one. The return has to be a grand slam. And as for Zuccarello, I’m a huge fan of his, but I agree that contract is brutal. I’m really hoping he will bounce back next season and live up to it. I think he can click with Kaprizov, but idk. We’ll see. I don’t envy Billy Guerin and the decisions he has to make. Also, I’m all for trading Greenway, but I would like to see a full season of Donato in the top 6 before just disregarding him so easily. He was never going to succeed in a fourth line checking role. He should be playing top line minutes over some others on the left side in my opinion. He at least needs to be given a serious look there. Greenway needs to apply himself more. I don’t think he’s the only one either. I don’t see this team making the playoffs next year, so I wouldn’t make any knee jerk reactions/signings/trades just to try to win now. Wild aren’t close. But I also have a feeling Guerin might deliver on the real “tweaks” we were promised that could help this team make a quick turnaround. I don’t think anyone besides Fiala, Spurgeon, Suter and Kaprizov are untouchable, so there’s no shortage of options.

Unfortunately Guerin just signed Nick Bjugstad. A guy that can't stay healthy. Another sign this team is lost.
Zuccarello is God awful. Hes not a guy that makes guys better he proved that here. He was decent when playing with decent players. Plus, he's on the wrong side of 30. He's not going to get better, IMO. Bottom line Wild have no true #1 PR #2 Centre.

I don't like this guy, or the owner, what they did to our Captain Mikko Koivu to end his career showed NO CLASS what so ever Mikko deserved much better than what this guy and the owner did to him. Hockey has always been a sport with ethics and the Wild showed none to Mikko Koivu. Mikkko should have retired as a Wild period.
