    I got one of the first run models and had to replace the nose gear after encountering a grass windrow on landing. I replaced it with an all aluminum retract that will last a long time. I found mine flew amazingly well just as you did. It puts an imediate smile on your face. I also have a 2.0m T-28 that should have come with everything this one does as you mentioned but once upgraded flys really well now too albeit at quite an additional expense. The Tucano though is the definition of smooth and felt dialed in from the first flight on. Mine took awhile to balance that 5 blade prop but the result was worth it. The Tucano is a great value for money and solves many of the shortfalls of the T-28. Eflite, are you listening?

    Good video and good info, thanks. I am still in the prcess of assembling and painting mine (doing the heritage schemed plane at the USAF Test Pilot School) and over all I am impressed with the fit and finish and overall quality. I have a few Avios planes and I have been happy with them. About my only gripe is at this price point, I would like to see nose gear doors. I ran into the same issue with my Avios Twin King, but I solved that by fitting a set of Freewing T-33 nose gear doors to it. I'm still looking for an easy nose gear door option for the Super Tucano.

Did you move any of the ball links for more throws, or turn up the range on the servos? When I get back I will send you some shots of what fit and finish issues I had. I may just order a replacement vertical stabilizer. The mold halves were not aligned and it has a significant step on the front where it meets the empennage. That occasionally happens from other manufacturers as well. I received 1 from the second shipment. I do not know if it has the nose modification done to it. I will stiffen up the elevator. I had already thought that might be an issue. I do like what I have seen so far. To not have to be as concerned flying of grass will be a relief. A change from the FMS PC21.

    Hey Jon, thanks for the amazing review, as usual they are fair and unbiased.
    Question, can you explain what do you mean when you say it can't be flown on a neutral CG? Is it that it won't rotate or fly poorly etc? If so what CG would you recommend?
    Thanks

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Месяц назад

      It's a nose heavy airplane by design. Unless you get the battery tray modded so you can move the pack to the center of the wings, it's going to fly nose heavy. Not in the sense that it flies poorly - just aerodynamically. It's always going to be positively stable. We did mention "it takes off and lands without struggling" in the agility section. 😉
      The recommended CG would be as far aft as you can get it on the recommended pack. Don't be afraid to push the battery all the way to the rear.

    No offence meant John but you have started to sound like other RUclips influencers that just thrust the product in our face and overlook all the negatives. Your assessment around fit and finish is way off. You never spoke about the ugly fuse joint, plastic wheels, poor foam quality, old style plastic control horns and clevises, canopy fitment and wing joint alignment issues, not to mention the thrust angle issue, extra motor wire length with no advantage. If it was fms or Freewing you wouldn’t stop complaining about the issues.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Месяц назад

      We don't account for "old style hinges" in our review system. That's a personal complaint you're making, not a reason why we'd ding this plane. How do you even quantify that? "Uses old style hinges - fail" - who defines what's new versus old in a hinge system? All we care about is if it's plastic hinged, and it is.
      What "ugly fuse joint" are you talking about? Ours looked fine. No idea why you think the foam quality is poor, it is objectively not. The canopy fit well on our airframe. There were zero wing joint alignment issues. No idea what you're talking about with regard to the thrust angle. We don't have any metrics for "motor wire length" and have no plans to add one, either.
      If FMS or FW made this plane, it would still get the same score it did here. Stop grasping at straws lol - no offense taken, but what you wrote comes off like you have a bone to pick with HobbyKing instead of us.

      HUH??? Are we looking at the same plane?? I have one from the 1st batch and disagree with essentially everything you said here. The ONLY thing you complained about that comes close to making sense is the fuse joint. Is it "ugly?" No. Could it be done better? Absolutely. But, it's not an eye sore or something that distracts from the looks of the model. As for your other gripes...
      Plastic wheels?? What foam model doesn't have plastic wheels? I can't think of any planes besides my 105mm EDFs that don't have plastic wheels.
      The foam/paint quality on mine is above average. I have seen better on a few models, but this is still up there and you can barely see foam cells in a few places on the plane.
      "Old style plastic control horns and clevises".......... I'm not even sure how to respond to that level of nit picking. 🙄
      My canopy fits perfect and my wing joint alignment was perfect.
      No clue why you think there is an issue with the thrust angle. I have no flight problems with mine that would indicate a thrust angle problem. Some people think there is a thrust angle issue when a plane climbs under full throttle. Usually, they just have the plane very nose heavy and the elevator trim required to fly level at 1/2 throttle becomes more effective at full throttle and the plane climbs. Maybe look into that if yours is climbing at full throttle.
      "Extra motor wire length with no advantage." See above response to horns and clevises. 🤦‍♂
      I can take any plane in my hangar and find something to nit pick... but to what end? Why do that? Why try and find something to complain about on a model that is done so well? Why not just enjoy a fantastic release? There were two REAL issues, in my opinion, on this one; and HK fixed both of those for the 2nd batch and beyond. So, to answer your comment of "Leave this comment on here and let others decide." I could not disagree more!
