Let’s not forget that this show was relatively recent, a year and a half or so... and that just last month, King turned 64. He IS legend! Anything from ‘Them’ or ‘Abigail’ please!
King uses what’s called reinforced falsetto it’s not your standard falsetto. It’s where he makes it sound questionable on purpose then jumps right into a more balanced falsetto when he hits those long range notes
I was at this show (actually made it onto the dvd!!). It was indescribable being immersed in this epic performance. Every single song was phenomenal, and King incredibly crushed every note. Exodus was great as the opener. I liked watching your reaction, and the respect. Peace, dude.
King Diamond! Noone can do Falsetto better than him in metal. He sings like this because his grandma was very superstitious and made him sing in that voice to scare away ghosts and spirits when he was growing up. He is a satanist. the Symbol King Diamond uses for his album covers is the actual satanic cross. Upside down crosses don't resemble satanism. But take that with a grain of salt because he is a really good dude and is mostly just a horror story teller. All of his albums are concept albums and the songs all tell a larger story in sequence when playing the album in full. Another little fun fact, King Diamond is one of Metallicas favorites bands, they also do a cover of a Mercyful Fate song (King Diamonds older band) along with Mercyful fate themselves.
I've been a long-time King Diamond fan going on 33 years now. I enjoyed your reaction but you've got to do something about the one grey hair in your beard that's longer than all the others. lol
The inverted cross is often used alongside other satanic imagery. Really though, it's actually more of a pious symbol than the standard cruciform if you look into it. The inverted cross was used by Saint Peter, who was crucified upside down as he didn't feel he was fit to have the same death as Christ itself. So, for King Diamond, it is just an inversion of the Christian cross, but for Christians it is the cross of St Peter or Petrine cross.
I mean, that isn't what I said. For all clarity, I am a Satanist. I was just explaining the origin of the symbol and the use of it in king diamond case. For what it's worth, king diamond is also quite openly a Satanist.
The inverted cross is known as St. Peter's Cross. Long story. And with King Dimond...each voice switch up is like a different character is the storyline. If I remember right, King's first 3 albums were just one big story.
The upside down cross ✝️ came about because Saint Peter requested to be crucified upside down since he said and felt as though "he was not worthy" to be crucified in the same manner as the Lord Jesus" which is something any believer can relate to that sentiment.
King Diamond is pretty badass... but album version of Eye of the Witch (Album called the Eye) is fire. The album is fun too if you pay attention to lyrics as the album is one story.
The band merciful fate was recording in Denmark at the same location as Metallica during the time or ride the lighting in fact metallica did a tribute to merciful fate in the garage days ep. Merciful fate Melissa is my favorite
Do you mean the compilation album of rare demo tracks? Burning the Cross is my favorite track from that album. I really like the raw sound of these demos.
LOL I was about to get into your reaction to 'animals in mirrors' when I saw this one in the 'up next' box at the top right of the screen. To hell with the animals.. KING DIAMOND! I'll watch the animals after this :P hehe
King Diamond is one of my favorites band's. I have seen him twice live on the Voodoo tour in Philadelphia, Pa and most recently in Baltimore, MD. His like his music is an experience like no other. Van if you want deep cut of King listen to and react to Voodoo. It has an excellent creole drum solo at the beginning and one of the least heard solos by Dimebag Daryl of Pantera. But really get a true feel you must listen to an entire album as they tell haunting and awesome stories. I would love for someone to take one of Kings' albums and make a movie from it, King has given you everything you need to do it. Long Live the KING!!
Dont know if someone told you this already , but the entire album is a story .. so this song if a part of that story )) every time i bought a King Diamond album .. i just sat down, read the lyrics while the album was playing )) amazing times)
King Diamond is not for everyone but I tell ya, he grows on you like fungus. First with his initial band Mercyful Fate and then as a solo artist, he crafted everlasting music. Most of his albums are concept albums that are best enjoyed when listened in its entirety.
I rememeber buying my first King Diamond tape! I hid it from my family becuase I thought it was so Satanic. It was a bit mcuh for me as a teenager. I have grown to love Kind Diamond! They are my favorite band of all time! I f**king love these guys. I am an Atheist now! I don't hide this shyte from my family now!
You have to listen to an entire album of his. They are all horror themed concept albums that tell a story from beginning to end, I like to call him the Stephen King of metal music. Seriously, it’s like a movie. I recommend the Abigail album for starters, but in my opinion the best STORY he ever wrote was the Puppet Master.
King Diamond should be listened and reacted to album at a time. With two exceptions, KD albums are concept albums drom start to finish and tell a (twisted) horror story. Some of the stories are even spread across multiple albums.
If your affection for god drummers and their kits is as strong as it comes across in this video, a must see for you would be "Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize - live (Tilburg, Netherlands) Full Song"
Inverted cross . The Cross of Saint Peter or Petrine Cross is an inverted Latin cross, traditionally used as a Christian symbol, but in recent times also used as an anti-Christian symbol. In Christianity, it is associated with the martyrdom of Peter the Apostle. The symbol originates from the Catholic tradition that when sentenced to death, Peter requested that his cross be upside down, as he felt unworthy of being crucified in the same manner as Jesus. The Petrine Cross is also associated with the papacy, reflecting the Catholic belief that the pope is the successor of Peter as bishop of Rome
The upside down cross if you're wondering is basically some said satanic but he only use it as like props but people always thought he was a devil worshiper but in interviews he stated that it was only because of the show that he does
Upside down crosses are usually associated with Satanism, but they are also known as the Cross of St Peter, so make of it what you will :D :D Also plz you and the fam react to Mushroomhead- We Are The Truth
Technically the upside-down cross has no evil meaning but metal often uses it as a insult to Christianity and its just kind of par for the course in metal like 666 and pentagrams.
And I have subscribed to ya for jamming one of my all time fav metal bands love king diamond mercyful fate was his first band...OH SHIT REACT TO PANTERA DOMINATION LIVE!!! In Moscow yo mesican it will blow ya mind
The inverted cross to me are two things. It is the cross of Saint Peter. But it is also a side symbol to satanism, the Baphomet pentagram being the main symbol.
Yes, Matt Thompson has(King Diamond) a great kit, but Robert Sweet(Stryper), Tommy Aldridge(Whitesnake), Neil Peart(Rush) & Mikkey Dee(former King Diamond-from Fatal Portrait- Them: all have better kits, but all are top notch drummers, & I do mean, top of their game drummers
King has a ridiculous falsetto for metal. The upside down cross is commonly associated with evil and that's why it's part of the stage theatrics. One of the earlier usages has to do with St.Peter mocking Christ, but that's not how they're using it in this context.
I put King Diamond on the same level as Frank Zappa. Musical genius. Andy LaRoque, guitar, is also in the top 10 guitarists of all time. It's easy to look past that he's a professed Satanist, and those are actual human bones on the mic. Prog Metal. VERY Prog.
The Cross of Saint Peter or Petrine Cross b/c he was crucified upside down b/c he felt unworthy of being crucified in the same manner as Jesus. But some people use it as a anti-Christian symbol
The King is a Satanist. The inverted Cross stands for the Denial of Jesus Christ. But actually the inverted cross is a Christian symbol. The symbol used in Satanism is the Symbol of Baphomet which is an inverted pentagram with a goats head in it. Around the pentagram at each point is Kabala letters which reads Leviathan.
Let’s not forget that this show was relatively recent, a year and a half or so... and that just last month, King turned 64. He IS legend! Anything from ‘Them’ or ‘Abigail’ please!
The show is from 2015. But I saw him live in 2019 and he's still great.
And post heart surgery, too.
all hail the king
@@G.G14 I was at that show, it was amazing.
Getting ready to go see him Oct 22nd in Indianapolis!! 🤘🤘🤘
with King Diamond you only have about 40 years of back catalog to catch up on between Mercyful Fate and his solo work.
well not really, since his last album was in 2007
Lots of classic Metal ground to cover, niet totally worth it!!
Dont forget BLACK ROSE!
The falseto is off-putting for many people. But it's an acquired taste. In the end I think it's pretty badass.
King uses what’s called reinforced falsetto it’s not your standard falsetto. It’s where he makes it sound questionable on purpose then jumps right into a more balanced falsetto when he hits those long range notes

King Diamond - The Family Ghost, House of God, July 7th 1777, pretty much can't go wrong with anything from King Diamond.
Just for the sake of argument. Claudio Sanchez-Coheed & Cambria. I guess you could argue they aren’t “metal” but imo he’s way better
I agree, but I think if anyone could come close, if would be Steelheart!!! Listen to "Never Let You Go"!! That is if you haven't already.
he's atheist
@@spacecowboy7755 ehhhhhh
you should google what falseeto means
it has nothing to do with his high vocals !
I've been a long-time King Diamond fan going on 33 years now. I enjoyed your reaction but you've got to do something about the one grey hair in your beard that's longer than all the others. lol
That´s why he´s the king :) Check out some of his stuff with "Mercyful Fate" - it´s cool as hell
Don't Break The Oath is a must-listen. That whole album is fire.

So, for King Diamond, it is just an inversion of the Christian cross, but for Christians it is the cross of St Peter or Petrine cross.
Finally! Someone who knows the true meaning of the cross.
Exactly, a case of a pious symbol being perverted for evil. Though in KD's case I think it's more for theatrics, to set a mood.
I mean, that isn't what I said. For all clarity, I am a Satanist. I was just explaining the origin of the symbol and the use of it in king diamond case. For what it's worth, king diamond is also quite openly a Satanist.
the king is satanist since the 70's. the symbolism should be clear.
And to some people it’s just an inverted t. Symbols hold the power and meaning you give them individually.
The inverted cross is known as St. Peter's Cross. Long story.
And with King Dimond...each voice switch up is like a different character is the storyline. If I remember right, King's first 3 albums were just one big story.
Third and fourth albums (”Them” and ”Conspiracy”) are one story. The story of ”Abigail” continues on ”Abigail lI: The Revenge”.
Gotcha. I knew that there was something about them. Good to know.
@@ANationalAcrobat Nope. "Them" is a continuation of Abigail.
@@SOLDOZER ”Them” came after ”Abigail” but the stories are not related. The characters, time and place are different.

The band merciful fate was recording in Denmark at the same location as Metallica during the time or ride the lighting in fact metallica did a tribute to merciful fate in the garage days ep. Merciful fate Melissa is my favorite
Melissa is such an iconic album! Absolutely incredible!
Melissa and Don’t Break the Oath are Mercyful Fate classic albums.
A National Acrobat I became a huge fan of return of the vampire the guitar solo on the title track is insane
Do you mean the compilation album of rare demo tracks? Burning the Cross is my favorite track from that album. I really like the raw sound of these demos.
A National Acrobat rare release before the album Melissa
The whole fatal portrait album is Badass. The Jonah is one of my favorites off of that album. Cheers
Should check out King Diamonds previous band Mercyful Fate, one of the first Black Metal bands.
Yeah I been a fan of his for 40 years first saw him live for them Halloween night in 1987 I had to cross church picket lines to get to the box office
LOL I was about to get into your reaction to 'animals in mirrors' when I saw this one in the 'up next' box at the top right of the screen. To hell with the animals.. KING DIAMOND! I'll watch the animals after this :P hehe

They loved their falsetto singing in metal in the late 70s and 80s lol
One of the best concerts i've ever seen, the King rulz! I would suggest The Invisible Guest by King Diamond, has some killer solos.
King Diamond is King!!!!
A Dangerous Meeting by his band Mercyful Fate honestly is probably his best song IMO anyway. Should def hear it.
I don't think anyone has a better drum kit than that!
Mike Mangini: Hold my octobans.
King Diamond should be listened and reacted to album at a time. With two exceptions, KD albums are concept albums drom start to finish and tell a (twisted) horror story. Some of the stories are even spread across multiple albums.
King Diamond mixed heavy metal and opera.
I subscribed cuz of this video, amazing

All the albums are concepts so to really appreciate it listen to an album in full and you'll appreciate it on a whole other level
yes, the inverted cross origin has a relation to st. peter's death. the symbol was later used to oppose or invert Christianity.
Lol...."does the upside down cross mean anything ?I thought I heard something "... Only Christian man alive that don't know lol...
Dude.... the first time I showed my dad king diamond he told me “ what they got guys singing on helium now?” 🤦🏻♀️

Check out that whole concert and the guitar tech his name is Willie G I know him from back in the day
No matter who the band is, everyone in the world should experience at least one metal concert in their life. Disappointment will not be there.

"Does the upside down cross mean anything?"
Gee, your guess is as good as mine.
I don't know if you noticed the cross he's holding is unupside down.

St. Peter’s cross. Not a recognized Satanic symbol, but metal bands still probably use it for shock value.
Tell me you have never heard King Diamond without telling me you have never heard him. LOL.
Who tf recommended this 🤣.....keep in mind king diamond sings on 3 more octaves than Mariah Carey, but suggesting this was sadistic 🤣

The Family Ghost is a corny Video, but a staple song from his catalog.
King is THE BEST IN METAL!!!! ANDY LAROQUE BEST IN METAL
THANK YOU!!!
u have not seen RUSH's drum kit, have u?
Just say no! But tripped my ass off listening to Them Conspiracy & the Eye way back in the day.

Upside down cross most of the time just means goth fashion/aesthetic... Sometimes atheists use it as a symbol too
Gotta due Silentl Lucidity by Queensryche. Please brotha
The updide down cross stands for anti-Christian. But To be honest these musicians are the coolest people.
Judas was crucified upside down.
