after this you put on the hot coat, when that dries you shape the coat. And after this you can chose if you are going to put on gloss coat, but that is not necessary:):)
Im sad i didnt see that before glassing my surfboard, i had to saturate the lap with another batch of resin , where i failed too is the lap making a lot of cloth string. I think if you use a square recipient to pour the resin you can use it like the cardboard to staturate the laps. Cutting the lap was a challenge too you need long scissor otherwise it not gonna be straitgh cut and it gonna produce a lot of string.
Wow, thanks for the video. I learnt a lot from this. I work daily with phenolic and epoxy resins and diff fiberglass for aerospace industry. Looking into learning how to make surfboards and bicycle frame from similar stuffs for fun. :) any suggestion where I can practice in California? Thanks
manchesterunitedpro when the zipper step is done and dry, pour some epoxy and brush it gently you have to mask the rail in the middle execpt at the back where you need straitgh rail, let it set and you will have you glossy finish, there some special resin to do that on epoxy but you can use regular one, for pu you can use aditives.
This is much better than most vids, thanks!

thx! im making my second paddleboard, the first is a bit ugly but it´s quite strong tho
I love YOU!!!!! ;) great video!!
Where can I buy a block of foam?
I use to be a fibreglasser but makin car body parts.. N I can truely say fibreglass on car parts is so so much easier than tryin to glass a board lol
The gloss is another step, a normal surf board has that matt finish, you then do a clear gloss coat
What foam is that
if you do that how do you get it to look normal when ur done like glossy and smooth

can you just use the squeegee to get all the resin off so you get that "zipper" sound.
Michael Gasparro yes, use fiberglass on the squegee the excess.
How much epoxy resin do you need for a 6ft3 fish? please reply Thank's
Thomas Gray there some calculation to do but with 2kg of resin you should be ok. If it you first board 3kg to be on the safe side.
@Katmamik Yeah... That guy is me.
Great to see that woodprix has new instructions to save my money and energy to build it.
hard
facepalm
That kid at 1:30 = fail.
Oh....well, then you totally failed...DUDE! (wink)
Well your methods on making a board is unorthodox
