Purchased a female CHESAPEAKE BAY RETREIVER puppy 8 weeks old from a individual in south Houston on Friday July 15, 2018. Introducing "Katie". This is me bringing her to her home and introducing her to my two current dogs. It all went very well. One of my current dogs, Moose, is a Chessie and he being 1 1/2 year old young he took to her immediately. Nothing fancy, just a bunch of random video clips put together.

My family and I watched this with a smile. Good timing. Our 15 y/o mama black lab goes to her fields of green tomorrow with the help of our vet. Just old and worn out and not able to carry on. But, watching Katie brought joy to our hearts and a smile to our faces. She's beautiful!
We're now looking forward to a Chessie pup in late Autumn.

Moose latched on to Katie in 10 seconds. They are such a neat couple with opposite personalities yet both have all the characteristics of a Chessie.

@@Wtfdawg321 No I do not breed them. These are my pets and adventure companions. Moose was bought from Greg with Country Chesapeakes in FL. Moose is full blood with papers and could be a winning show dog. But I believe he is better off chasing frisbees, adventuring, riding shotgun in truck and pissing on every tire he see's. Love how they help train their little sister. My Buddy has been gone for almost twelve years now and hardly a day goes by without thinking of him. 127 lbs of lap dog...not fat, just extremely large framed. The sweetest dog I ever had and lived to almost 16 years. They truly are a breed unlike any other and if you happen to have children, they couldn’t be in safer paws...will protect to the death. My teenage daughter had a friend Mark and if he approached too close would wedge himself between them, not aggressively, just kinda like...be careful bro, she’s mine lol. If Mark knocked at the front door, Buddy would go nuts as if to say, you’re not coming near her today...but Mark learned how to bribe him with a Wendy’s jr bacon cheeseburger (his favorite). After that he allowed Mark to enter freely without knocking and they were best friends...as long as he had the goods lol.
I love when Chesapeakes still have those greyish eyes, congratulations dude!

My daughter and her family just recently lost their Chessie Retriever! Very sad day, He was 13 yrs, I see yur dog lived very long actually thier longegevity is 10-12 yrs Yu really passed that time, They are great Pets
His name was "Chase"

The only reason I'm watching this video is because my neighbor across the road has a 6 month old Chessie puppy. He rides in his side by side and takes him hunting. I just wanted to say your dogs are beautiful and you take gorgeous pictures!

A very wonderful video to watch. Even got my 4 year old CBR Bella to watch for well; a few seconds. To the field we go with the Chuckit for the 100th time today after a long swim in the lake. I'm 67 ant this girl keeps me alive and is my best friend. Your fantastic video shows how much you care for you FAMILY. God bless you.

Thank-you for the comment. Traveling with two medium sized dogs ( or even one ) can be challenging but they love it and I enjoy having them with me and seeing them have fun.

I loved your video about Katie. I wish I would have thought about it when I got my Chesapeake Bay Retriever puppies. Missy and Captain. Captain past away eary. So I had to get another puppy. I didn't have Captain long so I name him Captain JR.

Thank you for the great video. Lost my chocolate chessie mix 6/24/20...Loved my Ruger. New pure bred coming in 6 days (10/30/20) Katie is so beautiful, and the older chessie treated her like his own. Love it so much will watch over and over. Thank you again, from myself and my new Turbo!

This was a great video that we just randomly came across. We lost our 13 yr old Choc Lab Rocky of cancer about a year ago and are ready to get a puppy. We are either getting a Chesse or another Labrador.
Also would like to get a Rhodesian 8 months to 1 year later. All the best to you, your family and pups!
Nice that you came across my video. Rhodesian Ridgeback are good dogs, I've had 3. Need to get them around other dogs and people as much as you can in first year. Chessie's are new to me but I'm already a hooked fan. Katie will continuingly retrieve any toy until the point of exhaustion. That Chessie drive.
My puppy was the same coming home - passed the heck out hahaha - fantastic puppy and fantastic other dogs. Oh man - I want another one! Btw I applaud you on your sharp but respectful reprimand of your other chessie upon meeting the puppy - they are so funny about territory but he grew to love little Katie. You have absolutely fantastic dogs. (Katie laying in the water was so cute!)

Katie loves any water whether it be a mud hole, water bowl, pond or beach.
I am curious to know which dog has the more aggressive (dominant) characteristics between the adult Ridgeback and Chessie?
between the two my male Chessie.
do this breed have to hunt? i dont hunt, il just want a good family dog and a good companion to bring along on all my kayak adventures. With just a little bit of protective instinct. I think this breed will match me perfect except i think it will be hard for me to keep it on the kayak when i want to fish?
just speaking about my two pup's, they are great family dog's. I can take them anywhere. My pups have the breed instinct to fetch until exhaustion, jump in any water in sight automatically and spot / watch for small game animals. How a person raises and treats their pet will make a big contribution on the animals adult disposition, IMO.

We need to settle the name of the retriever and hunter for the Chesapeake Bay retriever in the government instead of the labrador having that name the labrador is just a lay back dog and lives with the family as a normal dog

That was their very first introduction and Moose was growling so I swatted him on his back to get his attention and show him it is OK. Thanks for watching and commenting.
