If it helps, I can confirm that the PRR GP30 has the ribbing on top of the cab, so presumably it was a factory-delivered feature on PRR versions at least.
As an O Scaler, seeing 300 for sound hits me in the feels. I wish i could get a good unit with sound for that price without buying a whole set. As to the CR paint color, from the ones you shown, they cant exactly be called incorrect. Simce in the early few years, you still had 2 different supplyers making the paint, and the blue itself often times had to be mixed in house. This meant that there would in fact be varyations of the color dependimg on where and when it was painted. Also, with new units, whoever GE got thier paint from, thier paint fades faster than whoever EMD had.

I got one of these from the first run in the Rio Grande paint scheme and all I can just say that it is the best model I've ever bought. While it may just be the DC version, it is still better than my Athearn Tunnel Motor, which used to be my favorite model until I got the GP30. Now I'm looking to get another but in either SSW or ATSF.
I haven’t bought anything from scaletrains since I asked them about some incorrect details on the CNW version of the model and got told I didn’t know what I was talking about. My only scaletrains purchase prior was a sdl39 that showed up with the hand rails crushed in the plastic clam shell and out of gauge wheel sets. When I reached out to them about the wheel set issue they told me that it was impossible because they tested every locomotive before shipping, yeah right.
Very nice model from Scaletrains! I don't own one yet (holding out until they do a BN or BNSF version, although the Rio Grande one from the first run was really tempting), but from the videos, these things are NICE!
I think you can add a spitter valve just in JMRI without the use of a lokprogrammer. It’s kind of complicated, and you might have to use a different sound as a makeshift one though. It’s using the random functions tab and the function map.
This is a really beautiful model, and it makes me want to see more types of locomotives in the future. Some locomotive types I want to see as model railroad locomotives are the following: HO Scale Northern Pacific S-10 (There are HO Scale S-4s out there, but no S-10s). HO Scale Norfolk and Western Y6a (There's loads of Y6b's out there, but very few, if any, Y6a's). HO Scale Steam Locomotives with modern-day railroad paint schemes (There are Conrail Steam Locomotives out there, but I would like to see BNSF, CSX, and Norfolk Southern Steam Locomotives). HO Scale models of other fictional locomotives that are not Thomas and Friends characters, The Polar Express, Hogwarts Express, Chuggington, or other preexisting fictional models (I'm talking about locomotives like CPRR 131 from BTTF III, Engine 25 from Hey Arnold, Casey Jr. from Dumbo, Linus and Samson from The Brave Locomotive, Charles and the Player Train from Choo-Choo Charles, and so much more). Let me know if you want to see any of these see the light of day.
The scale trains gp30 is a beautifully detailed and made locomotive The one thing that is slightly sad, having only a single unit you cannot haul much up a grade. Mine couldn’t haul 5 walthers passenger cars up the grade at my local club
Somehow scaletrains makes the model look better than the real thing and the GP30 is ugly asf so that says something 😭🙏 i would also say that the couplers are pretty damn good because my current only scaletrains locomotive slammed into like 15 parked railcars head on at like 30% throttle while also pulling a train of its own once and the only damage was a minor scuff on the coupler 💀
Also fun fact, there originally was supposed to be a brass GP30 for comparison in this video. Unfortunately it didn’t arrive in time
Update: it just showed up ffs
Seriously how did they get it this right, absolutely mind boggling to me. What do you mean there's a higher tier of locomotive they offer...?
he doesn’t know…

Maybe but not as good as my two GP30s in Lego
Please send me the instructions I'm beggggggiiinnnngggggg youuuuuuuuuuuuu

I still have yet to get a scaletrains locomotive
Did you get the chance to see the bli one? Was wondering how they compare.
Thinking about it
Okay ,now is see why with the blue on that proto 2000 unit.
You should try a rapido engine next
Thinking about their GP38. GP30 could use a friend
@@cobramerciless from what I've seen it's really good
@cobramerciless Rapido's GP38 is awesome! I have a BNSF version, ordered it from Iron Planet Hobbies, pretty heavy for a 4 axle locomotive too!
First one!
