    Holy hell, this shows the most comprehensive and briefly detail of a statistics course, IN JUST 15m. And whats more interesting, he only teaches these concepts IN 8-13m, yet very effectively with easily understanding. I've finally found my best RUclips course.

      @@jinxabyss1484 Hi there, I think as long as you have basic knowledge about math you should be fine with the fundamental concept of statistics :) However, when you dig into the course later on you might need at least some university-level math to understand the material properly. I hope this helps!

    Hi, that is really cool video !! Thank you for sharing. Beside I'm very excited for your video recording. It seems like you are standing behind a big glass and write down words. but those words are not reverse !! that is magic!!!!! how did you do this magic??? Please let me know~~ thank you !!

    • @marinstatlectures
      @marinstatlectures  6 лет назад +17

      it's a really cool (yet simple) idea. i write behind a piece of glass with acamera on the other side that records me. the image is then "mirrored" so that the writing is reversed and not backward. I'm actually right-handed, but in the video it appears as if i write with my left hand because the image is a mirror image.
      I'm fortunate to get free access to this technology at UBC Studios as a Faculty member at UBC. if you search "Light Board" you can see how it is done.

    Hi Marin. Thanks for the video, it's simple and very explanatory and I believe many comments here agree with me. In addition, I do think for the sake of future purposes, the chalk noises could be done away with, as they are quite a number of people who find it difficult to cope with, due to the effect it has on them.
    Thanks for your good work

    Hi just want to give a big shout out to you and this channel!! I have watched all of the videos in this playlist. I am on my path to be a data scientist and this really helped me to understand what's going on with those packages that I use while coding!!
    Also I am wondering if this playlist corresponds to any university courses, like it would be a first-year stats course? or it is a mix of everything that's most useful? Thank you so much!!

      Thanks, and good luck with your journey! This playlist corresponds to a. Purse I teach at The University of British Columbia: SPPH 400 - Statistics in Health Research. The topics have a larger overlap with what gets covered in many intro stats courses, with a few intermediate stats topics mixed in.

      Thanks! The set up is called “light board” or “glass board”. I get access to it at UBC Studios. I write on a piece of glass with a camera on the other side. The video is then “mirrored” in editing. It’s quite possible to build your own if you’re a bit handy

      it's hard to say...ive stayed away from textbooks for a while. but a classic that ive always likes is the Moore "Intro to the Practice of Statistics". in the past few years the text has moved away from formulas, and more focus on concepts...which i think is great, and a big improvement over traditional texts.
