If the needle is constrained to move along horizontal plane (i.e compass is parallel to earths surface) then the magnetic field will hit the needle perpendicular (and horizontal component will be zero). hence it doesnt effect its alignment and stays at any position.

If the needle is constrained to move along horizontal plane (i.e compass is parallel to earths surface) then the magnetic field will hit the needle perpendicular (and horizontal component will be zero). hence it doesnt effect its alignment and stays at any position.

@@HariKrishnan-vp5ed a magnetic compass needle moves in horizontal plane due to earth's horizontal magnetic field. Since, at poles no horizontal component is present hence needle will rest in any direction.

Respected sir que no. 6 ka ans b ayega (I THINK) becoz compass neddle (given )which deflect due to horizontal component of Earth's magnetic field and at geomagnetic poles horizontal component is zero so remain in arbitraty direction i.e stay in any position so option c is correct
