Land Rover Defender - Nakatanenga Gas Strut

The bain of every series 90 - 110 and Defender owners is the rubbish factory rear door stay which doesn't hold the door open on a slope or let's it back too far and the spare tyre will crease the back panel.
This simple gas strut will allow simple one handed opening and with the soft stop function means it is smooth and efficient.

The only not so good thing about this mod is that the force of the door opening is putting stress on the alluminium panel inside Landy on the other side of the strut near the seats, I am going to try putting a bigger surface plate on the outside where the internal bracket bolts on.

Watching this because my coal man loaded a several bags into the back and the door twatted him pretty hard, poor guy. Need to fix it.

@@Devonlandrover Hi did you have any problems with the strut popping the bottom left door card clip out when you close the door? Iv just fit mine works great apart from the clip.
