I had a great coach. I met Hans Hedemann when I first moved to Hawaii in 1994. I lived in the downstairs apartment at his house on the North Shore in Pupukea Heights. He introduced me to Sunset, Pipe, Backdoor, Tonggs, Rice Bowls, pretty much everywhere. He’s a really awesome person!
I’ve seen this spot get real good about 3 xs per year, used to bodysurf Makapu’u daily cause I was so burned out with the crowds. Looking back, should have got my longboard out and had a splash around here. Thanks for bringing back found memories of my youth, Mahalo.

Not much surf spots on this coast (too few well-known), but at least we can sail/windsail (well, not at this moment). I remember a lot of this area from watching the original Magnum P.I. tv series. You can see the Turtle Pond down there in front of the old Eve Anderson Estate where they filmed the outside of Robins Nest and the grounds. And right next here is the Research Station that was supposed to be Island Hoppers Chopper service for T.C. And of course Rabbit Island.

Do surfers take any precautions against marine life? I'm from the midwest and always assumed that paddling out on a board would be a sketchy situation. Surfing looks like a blast tho. I grew up waterskiing a freshwater lake lol.
