5:34 - Thank you for making this point... I've battled this issue for two weeks can could not get a clear understanding from the documentation... There is a special not that says Docker Desktop is not compatible with the latest Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, however nothing is meantioned about Mint... I'm currently running Linux Mint 21 Cinnamon. I chose it because it was one of the most commonly used, and widely recommended Distros. I just wanted something that was problem free, but apparently that might only be true with Ubuntu... I currently have a Virtualbox installation of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, but that's not going to be useful. I'm glad to finally have answers...
I had lots of problems with Docker Desktop a few months back after I updated it. I was running on Pop_Os 20.04. I even tried apt purge and then reinstalled after I googled the problem. Finally after several attempts I finally used apt with purge and auto remove. I then searched for docker from the root and deleted anything I found. So finally I was able to use Docker Desktop again on Linux again.
Thanks for the tip Edward. Pop OS isn't on their supported distro list, so I'm glad you got it working. I, for example, wasn't able to get the GUI working on Mint, but I didn't try very hard.
Thanks for this information! I'm six minutes into the video, but I wanted to know: do you have a corresponding video for setting up Docker Desktop onto Red Hat distros (to include Rocky Linux)?
I don't do distro-specific install instructions. In general I recommend the install script at get.docker.com but the docs.docker.com are the best way to learn for specific distros.
From the website I download the Deb package to my Mac downloads location. When I use the command in the Ubuntu machine, it obviously doesn’t work as the location is pointing to the host downloads. How do I download it in the Linux and then specify the location or point it to the host downloads ?
I'm a noob but is this better for inference speed if I installed desktop docker and use frigate nvr with google coral? Installing a barebones Debian or do I need an Ubuntu desktop.

I'm so glad I found you today. Just made my day honestly, been struggling to properly install Docker Desktop since yesterday. Thanks a lot man

I suppose docker desktop exist to help us manage containers and images rather than inference optimization.
what is the command to run docker desktop from terminal?
docker desktop has stopped... everytime on ubuntu and debian(hyper v vms and baremetal)
If you think it's a bug, please report it: github.com/docker/desktop-linux/issues
Thank you!
Thanks so much!
