Journey - The secret room in Level 1

How to find the secret room in the south-east (bottom-right) corner of Level 1 (the "Chapter Select" or "Hub" level).
I believe the secret room was first discovered by Deepthroat on 6 July 2012:

You must find all of glowing symbols. 21

There are 21symbols along the way. Once you have them all, on 'chapter select' look to the right and the wacky-waving-arm-inflatable-tube-plant will be white and you just hit circle. You can switch back and forth there.
