My mum said before or we can call in the past. It takes about 3 days to finish it, after that maybe in 2000s it takes about 2 days, but nowadays it's only 1 day to finish! But not mean that every family in Cambodia that make wedding for 1 day, some are 2 days and some are 3 days depend on their financial! Have you ever heard ពិធីបុកល័ក្ខ
Last 15 years, I am worked in Pha Nom Penh City. I do not understand that why do they have wedding party along the road ? Why they did not at the hotel, stadium or etc. ?
In our tradition, the groom has to visit the bride house by bringing all the gifts such as fruits, meats and other important items(for doing the ceremony) to the bride’s house and marry there to honor the bride, we view females are more important. However, if the bride has small house or not convenient to do ceremony, the alternative is to get married at the rental halls, restaurants or hotels.
6:47 they sending gifts to bride house, in the ancient time, the gifts actually parade from the groom’s house, but nowadays, we do everything at the bride’s house.
Predominantly it’s Chinese-Khmers that have these grandiose weddings. I have noticed that ethnic Khmer men go out of their way to marry Chinese women. Are Khmer women not good enough for them? Is it because Chinese women have light skin?
