Tim’s albums with HIM are absolute masterworks in production.
Tim's work with Tears for Fears was sooooo crazy good !!! He's a frickin' genius !
29:23 "When someone's passion is that evident, you feel it in the record": YES, I think you just put to words precisely why I love albums mixed and/or produced by Tim Palmer so much (even many of the more obscure records that aren't even listed on his website)!
Another great episode!
the mission uk
So many great records.
The Eq he's talking about www.soundradix.com/products/surfer-eq
Everytime I see a new chapter, I can´t but give thanks god for the internet, youtube and Dave off course.
oh, and welcome to Texas Tim! My home state and one of the greatest musical centers of all time! Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Tanya Tucker, Mark Chestnutt, George Strait, Bob Wills, and do i need to go on? Some of the baddest ever reside in this state because it is a bad ass state filled with bad ass people! JD Souther and Don Henley too!
LUVN PENSADOS PLACE!!! Greetings from Germany
Fantastic! Ten is one of my all time fav albums! Thumbs Up! < - -
The Re-mixed 'dry' anniversary versions don't have that ethereal dreamy magic dub vibe.
***** HIM rocks too!!!
Awesome.
thanks guys for keeping that tragedy live in a world where people live so sullen..
Tim .... What a class act.
***** What you mean?
Class act: A person or thing displaying impressive and stylish excellence.
thanks for your clarification, after commenting I found the meaning over the internet, but thanks anyway^^ and BTW I think the same, one of a kind.
Awesome awesome AWESOME ITL!!!! Thanks guys! :)
Maybe one of my favorite episodes as far as content goes...Tim Palmer is amazing...but I have to agree...the choppy video editing kind of throws the rhythm off a bit. Another great one though! Keep it up guys.
You from Bogalusa?
rock Onmyboi Yep! Originally from Bogalusa. Live in NOLA right now. You from Bog?
Hey Dave n Herb please take time more often to speak on the power music has to change the world. Thank you
Great stuff once again! This is why the internet is awesome, what tv station would have put this show on? Already looking forward to the next show!
thanks for Tim!
Great guest and a great interview.
So..... any news or clues to give us, if you guys gonna get the ANDY WALLACE ??? please? or do you guys even consider in getting him in that room???
This show is great, it's my fav along with SonicTalk.
Great ITL.
What is the plugin whidh shows the bass notes? Seriously?
no more info but it sounds great!
Cool show. Since they don't, does anyone know what bass-eq-plugin Dave and Tim are talking about in batters box?
Kevin Shirley and Tommy Sims on the show please. Keep up the great work.
Unsure what songs/ band Dave on the left is talking about from 31:00 onward. HIM does not have songs called Bleed Out nor No Love. The singer's name isn't Justin either lol. Maybe the interview was sliced and diced waaaay too much? Otherwise great info from Tim Palmer.
It’s a crap edit, yes, it’s very diced up.
“Bleed Out” is a Blue October song and HiM does have a song called, “No Love”. It’s off the album, ‘Tears On Tape’ (2013) Justin is the name of Blue October’s lead singer.
I noticed the wonky edit too
Any chance you guys can throw up a link to the bass plugin he is talking about?
Good point, Herb, about too much emphasis on visuals. How would a video enhance the experience of a song like "Penny Lane", just as an example? Music videos can constrict and diminish the stature of a song. Just look at the "I Am the Walrus" clip. Awful. (did I mention I am a Beatles fan?). The trouble with videos is you can't un-see them.
Anyone know the bass EQ plugin he mentioned finding on Frank Fillipetti's FB page?? Sounds super helpful!
www.soundradix.com/products/surfer-eq
on the itl that 808 bass sounds too huge but my honest opinion I would use maxx bass over any day over the rbass you can get a good lock on bass with harmonics on maxxbass instead of add distortion plugins after rbass whiches I dnt like
The edits are getting much more noticeable and distracting.. Much better episode than the previous though.
i know its dumb but im feeling like a 12 year old girl knowing that one of my favorite singers of all time watches this lol.
men might boost more high-end because they are statistically more likely to have a noise-induced hearing loss (2-6kHz) in the high end.
:)
Hey Dave, ever thought of having Dr. Luke on? Would love to see that!
44:20 What is surferEQ?
is there anyway to see those cut scenes?
23:22
23:26 what did he say?
Herb cracks me up! penis envy? lol....
Hey Dave and Herb, can you please tell me what you mean by the rule of thirds ? I'm tiring of asking, cheers.
Hey bud :)
This Guy knows a thing or two and tries to explain this concept here /watch?v=T5U0NPz9U5s
I believe Dave talks about it too on one of his ITL's but there's soooo many now I couldn't link you haha.
search gearslutz too.DP talks about it there. it has to do with painting/photography. if you have the subject of the picture slightly to one side it draws you in.
Dynasty UK thanks mate !
Jeremy Glover thanks mate
Herb has not got a clue....haha.....
Such a shame you guys don't mix real music!!!
