This foundation is beautiful. I love the original, but sometimes it’s a bit much. This is my Goldilocks foundation. Looks natural all day. Doesn’t wear 12 hours on me but what it does do is fade gracefully without going patchy. It does wear all day if I mix a couple drops of original Double Wear in. Love this foundation and really hope Estée Lauder doesn’t discontinue it.

I rely on the original DW for it's longevity (especially in the long days of working in an office) so am interested to try this one for a lighter option, or to mix in with the original to soften the coverage as I don't always want full coverage 😊
Hello Lydia! Great great great idea to mix in with the original DW. Never even thought of that. Yes. To make a bit lighter for summer. Im very much enjoying this new version. I wonder what you’d think. Tough not to compare it to the original and they’re such different animals.
So glad you reviewed this. I am kind of a foundation junkie. Both the Doublewear and the Doublewear Light work beautifully so I am very interested in this version. I wasn’t excited to see the reduced shade options but I am hoping it won’t be too difficult since shear foundations are more forgiving. Thanks for reviewing.
Yesss exactly Diane! The sheer shades cover maybe 3 or 4 shades for each shade. Mine wasn’t even correct and it still worked. So that part is no worry. If you like the other two versions, I think you’d like this. Much thinner than the light even. Serum like.

Hi Rebecca! Can’t say I have every used the double wear range it’s great if you want good coverage I do prefer natural and medium coverage so might give this one a try also like you I do like a radiant finish as more on the mature side myself ❤️🤗
Agreed! Agreed! It's funny...because...I understand liking full coverage but .... who needs it? Think about it. Young people use it and that is when skin should show because it's lovely. And then mature women use it and it cakes and falls into lines! I am not really sure it serves any needs. I hear the sounds of full coverage lovers organizing into an angry mob to come for me!

Totally agree double wear needs to lay off the “double wear” name on everything bc it’s losing meaning 😂 I do agree it should be on the regular foundation and the eye liner! They are definitely all day wear!

Yes. We all understand that these brands want to have a brand within a brand but double wear means something so specific that it’s diluted when they name other products after it. And yes I absolutely think that double wear can be mixed with the futurist. Very pretty.
Definitely wanting to try this now that it wore so good on you. Especially since I find myself loving everything you rave about. Also my favorite new foundation has been the tarte! Will pick this one up for sure.❤️

This foundation looks lovely on you, especially with mixing it with the Melt dewy. My skin is too dry for these long wears, even when I was 10 years old. Lol. (It’s a joke). Can not wear matte foundations at all, ever. I do love EL Futuristic Hydra Rescue, and I live in an extremely humid area. But, the AC can dry you out too.

AC and heating and absolutely wreak havoc on skin especially as we go into the AC and then out into the heat/humidity and then back into the AC. I hear you completely. And the Futurist IS indeed a WONDERFUL foundation. Agreed.

It looks very nice on you. I just bought it in the same shade; it looks quite different on me. I do not use bronzer however, and it looks lovely. It is not too matte as you pointed out, it does have a bit of a sheen; I suppose you could say it is soft focus matte. Very good for those of us who do not like full or even medium coverage.
It really has become one of my true favorites. If I’m just in a hurry and I need to go somewhere and I just want my skin to look nice, I grab it every single time!

Hello Lucy! I have not tried it as I do not have any of my older original double wear. But I feel it would work actually quite well to just give a little more luminosity to the original.

@@MiriamImperial Also Miriam, for lightweight coverage, you might like the Fenty Eaze Drop. It wasn’t my favorite because it’s soooo matte. But with an oilier complexion, it might be your thing!!

I wear them interchangeably. The Estée Lauder is a bit more coverage. A thin true foundation. The BB is definitely more of a skin tint and less buildable. Lovely to mix or add a finishing powder on top. If you would like to see them side by side on Insta, just let me know! And your screen name for me to tag you. 😊

I was wondering how it compares to the “double wear light”. I’ve seen that on sale a lot before this just came out. It seems very similar but never tried that one. I was thinking this would would be like that tarte seahydro whatever and Fenty ease drop. I wish they came out about 2 months ago. I am interested
Yesssss. You are totally correct. Like the serum foundations. A match for my beloved Tarte Hyrdroflex!

My latest live in terms of sheer foundations is the chantecaille future skin which looks so beautiful but doesn’t last on my skin. I really love the EL double wear for its long wearing properties so if this gives a nice finish AND be long wearing then I am very very interested indeed! I just have to wait for it to come out either here in Australia, or at least at Selfridges
You know I haven’t tried the Chantecaille and I’ve heard the most wonderful things. It’s on my list. Yes. This new EL isn’t even in Britain yet. Darn it. I think you’d enjoy it.
I like both versions/sides Rebecca😍(with and without the Melt primer). I think the coverage was more than I expected. Being a skin tint kind of girl this is something I will look into🤗.

Is the Tarte Hydroflex as matte as this one? Also I think 3N1 would probably be a good match for you. 2N1 looks the same on me as it does you and I’ve found that 3N1 is a better match for me.😊
Hi Stephanie! Yes yes. Agreed entirely. 3N1 would be much better! I’m using this one cos why not but I’ll def go with 3N1 next time for sure. I gotta say, this and the Tarte are incredibly similar in terms of the matte texture. If anything, I’m feeling like the Tarte might be a tad more matte! I always mix with something dewy though.
Great review. I have never tried an Estee Lauder foundation as far as I am aware. This one looks like it might be a good one to start as it’s long wearing and I will be back in the office from next month - 1 day a month to start. I have a long commute so any foundation has to be long wearing but I don’t wear full coverage. That Melt product gives a nice glow underneath.
Hello Amanda. Ugh, sounds like you have changes coming up. Getting used to the commute…albeit again…but it’s been a long time working from home. This is definitely long wear AND the sheerest of coverage. I feel like this would work for ya!

I had the original Double Wear in my shopping cart at least 20 times over the years and never bought it!!!! Why?? Because I am not a full coverage person and I know exactly what would happen. I would buy it because everyone always talks about it. Then it would sit in a drawer for years and never get used. Then it would end up in the trash. This one looks promising with the dewy-ness underneath!!!! I would never wear a matte foundation; my skin is too dry. It looks really good with the primer on you!! Cool!! I actually like mixing things. Some people say it’s too much work and what’s the point if you can buy a single product that does it all?! Sure, I hear that, but mixing is fun!!!! Maybe because my skin is on the dry side BUT, even if I put an OIL underneath, it still looks like a mask. An oil is serious stuff and it still doesn’t take care of the cakey mess. It’s definitely better with an oil, but oil??? Come on. So I can’t do it. I am also thinking this would look really good with the Body Bling!!! What a brilliant idea you had!!!!!!! 🥰💖

Can openers and car seats 🤣🤣 I am so interested in this. I am a HUGE fan of the original. It’s so reliable. I always add a few drops of a face oil to it on the days I want longevity, but more sheer coverage. This does sound good though. Well sheer foundations are so forgiving when it comes to skin tones that I am not mad at the shade range. Another great review 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Mixing in the face oil with the original is SUCH a great idea. Longevity and a bit of sheer. This is VERY sheer and, honestly, nothing like the original BUT it's still very very good. I prefer the UD Naked Crock Pot, though.

Hello Justine! I am in Los Angeles so absolutely masks required. Let's see. I went out BOTH days that I've tested this foundation. Wore masks both times and no makeup on the masks. I know this only because my daughter had to run into a store, forgot hers, had to borrow my disposable surgical one and made that "yuck" face, saying, "Your masks always have makeup on them!" but then was pleasantly surprised because the past two days, no makeup! haha. So it passed the surly teen daughter test too!

@@NotFitforPrintBeauty I’m so happy that I decided to try it out. I’m oily but so in love with her Lumiere radiance foundation. I got it as sample and plan on purchasing in September. I have the ultra fusion, but I was amazed by her primers🤩 I have one coming in the mail along with her new light catcher setting powder in the shade honey star.

Double wear is a nightmare for my, in summer bit more normal, but mostly dry sensitive skin, i'm a walking cake with that stuff, same for the CT full coverage foundation, i gave them to a friend with oily skin, she loves them! But this looks good, really! And nice that they left the fragrance out! I know they own Clinique for that, but nice anyway! Looks great on you, also after more hours! And there is not any foundation that can cover all redness indeed. Looking forward to it when it comes to Europe, i think i would like to try it! Thanks and have a wonderful day!!!!🖐😘😘😘😘
Hello Annemarie! Thank YOU for this lovely comment. Agreed. I don’t care for the Charlotte full coverage either. It just settles and cakes. And becomes uncomfortable. When I come into the house and can’t wait to wash my face, I know the foundation is too heavy. But this one is nice and lightweight and doesn’t cake. And that lack of fragrance is so refreshing!!!

I wonder if this is like the discontinued Double Wear Nude which I loved? I find regular Double Wear to be a bit heavy hence why I really liked the Nude version. I wouldn't be surprised if it were the same thing repackaged & having changed the name.
Oh. My. Goodness. WHAT a GREAT point. Ya know, I've been sitting here comparing it to the light version...this one is much thinner, more like a serum...but I'd entirely forgotten about the bygone Nude version. How interesting. And I do not know the answer, darn it!
I may have to check it out as the Nude worked well for me without having that heavy feeling. It also wasn't a matte finish but a natural finish which I find works best for those of us over 40.
@@auburnstar27 this one is labeled as matte finish but I don’t find it super matte. If you end up trying this, let me know your thoughts please! I mix it with something dewy anyway, as you know.

Hello Laura! Right now it’s a complete toss up and that’s hard for me to say because I am devoted to that Tarte product. But it’s only been two days. I do like that the Tarte has no SPF.

Hi Rebecca, always wanted to try double wear but I don't like full coverage foundations. I feel they are very unnatural especially for more mature skin. As I have gotten older I find less is more otherwise I can look very scary 🤣. Luv your comment about single wear, maybe Estee Lauder should have you do their press releases. Hello Veronica! It’s definitely a matte finish. Needs that dewy mix in for dry skin. But won’t cake like the other version as this is more of a runny serum texture. Did fall into lines a tad at end of day but no caking.

This ain't going to work for me. I need a full coverage and matte. I've never purchased anything from Estee Lauder. Makes me think of grandma makeup 😃
For sure. Grandma makeup. But I gotta tell ya. For full coverage and matte, Double Wear original is so so good!!

Most people that use Estée Lauder DW foundation are nowhere near grandma status. Including me. Lol. I’m 31 and ive been using this foundation since I was 24….

This foundation is beautiful. I love the original, but sometimes it’s a bit much. This is my Goldilocks foundation. Looks natural all day. Doesn’t wear 12 hours on me but what it does do is fade gracefully without going patchy. It does wear all day if I mix a couple drops of original Double Wear in. Love this foundation and really hope Estée Lauder doesn’t discontinue it.
