Here's something for my book girlies..... The air was thick with the scent of decay and damp stone, the kind of oppressive stillness that pressed against Lilith’s chest like a warning. Her flashlight flickered as she stepped deeper into the forgotten crypt, its beam slicing through the darkness. She shouldn’t have come here. But the pull had been undeniable. The old journal she’d found in her late grandmother’s attic spoke of this place-a hidden crypt beneath the ruined chapel at the edge of town. A place where wishes turned to curses, and shadows clung to the walls like ancient scars. She told herself she came for answers. Closure, maybe. The truth? She didn’t know what she was looking for. Her boot caught on something, sending her sprawling to the ground. “Damn it,” she hissed, scrambling to her knees. The flashlight rolled out of her hand, its light dancing across the walls. That’s when she saw it-a carved stone sarcophagus, half-buried in rubble, its surface etched with strange runes that seemed to shimmer in the light. Her breath hitched. Lilith approached slowly, fingers brushing against the cold, damp stone. The runes seemed to hum beneath her touch, a low vibration that traveled up her arm and settled in her chest. She should’ve stopped. Every instinct screamed at her to turn around, to leave this place and never look back. Instead, she pressed her palm flat against the largest rune. The crypt trembled. Lilith stumbled back as the stone lid began to shift, centuries of dust and debris cascading to the floor. A sound like a sigh-low, deep, and resonant-echoed through the chamber, sending a shiver down her spine. And then she saw him. At first, she thought it was a statue-a man carved from shadow and stone, lying motionless in the coffin. But his chest rose with a slow, deliberate breath, and his eyes snapped open. They were the color of molten gold, flickering with an otherworldly light as they locked onto hers. “You,” he said, his voice smooth and sharp like the edge of a blade. His gaze pinned her in place, a predator’s gaze, and for a moment, she forgot how to breathe. Lilith tried to step back, but her legs refused to cooperate. “Who… who are you?” she managed to whisper. He rose from the sarcophagus with an unsettling grace, his movements fluid and deliberate. The air around him seemed to shift, thickening with an invisible weight that made her knees weak. “Who am I?” he echoed, tilting his head as if considering the question. A smirk curled at the corner of his lips, dark and amused. “I am the end of your innocence, little one. The question is, why did you wake me?” “I didn’t mean to-” “You did.” His voice was sharp now, cutting through her denial. He stepped closer, and she could feel the cold radiating off him like a shadow come to life. “The runes... they only respond to blood.” Lilith’s breath caught as she glanced down at her palm. A thin cut ran across her skin, blood pooling at the edge. She hadn’t even felt it. “You’re bound to me now,” he said, his voice softer but no less dangerous. “You’ve undone centuries of slumber with a single drop. Tell me, Lilith-” His smirk deepened. “Do you believe in curses? " "In the shadowed corners of the night, his piercing gaze locked onto hers-a hunter recognizing the thrill of his prey, as the line between danger and desire blurred with every step he took closer." The air was thick with the scent of decay and damp stone, the kind of oppressive stillness that pressed against Lilith’s chest like a warning.
