"Why take the guns?" Because in Reachers situation, you can never have to many guns...

Sadly for Finley and Roscoe, , the Reacher novels all take place in new towns with new people. There is a bright spot, however. The one character who pops up several times is Neagley... and she is in the book Season 2 is based upon.

As a former MMA fighter, I can honestly say that some of the more unskilled fighters who were just a little on the crazy side gave me a hard time. Kliner kid was wirey and definitely crazy with a high pain threshold. Definitely understandable scene.

      @mgass1354 10 месяцев назад +9

A person having a high pain tolerance can be a very overlooked factor. In the police academy, they tried teaching us how if you just do X the person will comply automatically. I proved them wrong on that point to the class just to show everyone that you WILL meet that person with that high of a pain tolerance and your techniques WILL be useless on them.

In most martial arts, you don't worry about the pros, because they'll act in certain ways, it's the novices, you always have to be wary about, because they'll do the weirdest shit.....

Size is great if you get your hands on the person. When that person is fast and beating you with a crowbar, that isn't a guarantee, however.
The thing about the fight that I went... "ummm"... is that Reacher didn't have a broken arm, cracked ribs, and cracked skull from that crowbar. Getting hit by a metal bar hurts... unless you're Reacher and it's a tv show.

I’m 260lbs with a 1930lb raw powerlifting total (700 squat, 480 bench, 750 deadlift). I’m a blue belt in jiu jitsu and have been training 3 years. I’m stronger than pretty much every human being in jiu jitsu aside from like 6 of them, and I know them all. Big guys? I absolutely work on the mats with no issue. The guys who absolutely destroy me? They are the 170-195lb athletic dudes with ridiculous gas tanks that are super scrappy and are aggressive. Every time I compete in an absolute tournament I lose to one of those guys without fail and they kick the crap out of me 😂.
To the other person’s point above me, the only time I ever get injured or someone gives me a super hard time is when they are a spazzy white belt that do not know the “right” reactions. Amateur spazzes in jiu jitsu, kickboxing, a street fight, etc., can be exponentially more “dangerous” in certain situations. Especially when they’re sociopathic and wielding a weapon.

Reacher wasn't testing Officer Baker by claiming to suspect Finlay, he was setting a trap for Teale's people because he knew Baker was involved ever since that moment outside the Morrison crime scene. Reacher recounted how Baker escorted him to the bathroom at the station house, but wouldn't go inside with him even though the bathroom had a window and Reacher was in police custody under suspicion of murder. Conclusion; Baker didn't care if Reacher escaped because he knew they arrested the wrong guy, which means he knew who the right guy was and didn't say anything. Considering that, plus Baker being the only Margrave cop that Teale didn't have fired or killed, Reacher knew exactly who he was sitting down with in the diner.
And you were right about not trusting Picard. He left Charlie Hubble and her kids alone and unprotected in the safe house to meet up with Roscoe and Reacher in Atlanta because he knew Kliner wouldn't make a move against the family without Picard's green light. Stevenson was clean, so that means Picard was the one who sent the Venezuelans ahead of Reacher and Roscoe to Joe's motel to steal his notes and then ambush the mammoth man and lady cop once they found what they'd missed. Last piece was the attack on the safe house. Picard was the only one who knew where the Hubbles were hidden, and Roscoe certainly didn't sell them out, so which means Picard gave the go-ahead on the attack.
    Great content

The only justification for Dawson's fight to stretch out as long as it did was the fact that Reacher had engaged in all the other guys before that and even though they weren't drag out fights, they were physically demanding: like pulling a guy through a truck window and all the grappling he did with the other trained south americans. That's the thing about movie and tv fights, they tend to go on a lot longer than a real fight would and the hero usually bounces back after a 10 minute drag out fight. Reacher was probably getting fatigued and had been hit SEVERAL times with a metal bar that besides being painful and distracting, can lesson the strength of the body because damaged muscles and bones don't want to play anymore.

Plus in the book, this guy is almost as big and strong as Reacher is, and not the average little guy portrayed on the TV series.

I feel like everyone always overlooks the CROWBAR. Those are solid and heavy and he got WAILED on by that thing off the bat and throughout the fight. Adrenaline and muscle mass only do so much - honestly Reacher should have lost that fight with the way it started.

The gun that guy on the right was carrying was a pump action shotgun, and the ammunition is stored in the tube that runs under the barrel. It typically holds around 6-8 shells/rounds, and in close quarters, like inside a house, is more than enough, provided your target is in your frontal view.

Teale's involvement isn't explicitly revealed before the scene with the mortician looking at Gray's wound, but it is implied earlier in the series when Reacher asks Finley if he's going to be the new police chief after Morrison. The conversation outlines the fact that Morrison's death was a message to the new chief not to screw up, and that that meant the next chief had to be an inside man worth sending that message to.

As noted in other comments, there isn't always a 1 to 1 from the book to the episodes and that will continue with season 2. So while they have tried to get some things as close as possible, the differences will bring about "huh" moments. In the book, Reacher is a tank that can take and deal out a lot of punishment. But, that means that some, if not many depending on the book, of the bad guys are also big tanky guys as well. There is also a difference between rl and the book world. One thing the books try to do, with moderate success, is portray it as a "what would you reasonably do in this situation" situations... except for Reacher who is basically just a one-man wrecking crew. No, in the normal world, a citizen wouldn't be strolling through a crime scene. In the book world, Finley and Roscoe are out of their depth with Reacher being the "help" they need, so the rules get bent.

Yeah, that crowbar would definitely be a problem. In truth, Reacher's arms would be shattered. It was the only way in the show for Dawson to have a chance, otherwise, it would have been over in seconds.

Love the season, but the pool fight with the crowbar kind of lost me in believing I would have gone down like that, Reacher's arms would have severe cuts if not broken arms? Dowson was half Reacher's size it should have been better with a fist fight & a neck break on Dowson. either way I guess it was entertaining, done like that for suspension of disbelief I guess, The Crowbar. falling unconscious into the pool not breathing while out underwater etc was very iffy. Love the assist with Finlay in the Motel, I got the Kool-Aide reference having seen an advert online recently (I'm in the UK) Hope you enjoy the last one, its a banger!

I binged the last 4 episodes as well.
As far as the fight scene, a crowbar hurts. Even if you block, it hurts, and at least, causes huge bruises.

If they stay true to the books, almost no characters will be repeated. Rumor says they are trying to work Nealey in as a permanent character. Otherwise it's going to be hard to do. Reacher is a loner.

Despite what some comments indicate, I was disappointed with Reacher’s fight with Dawson, too. I think it was mainly due to how quickly the others were taken out only to have the smallest guy last the longest.

Great reaction Steph. For those all doubts you got about Reacher behavior l could answer all your questions, but will be better if you could read ANY one of the books on the series, doesn't matter which one. They were written with the idea that you could read them on any order. By reading one of them you could understand a lot of things about Reacher behavior, and he is pretty consistent. Probably you don't know that he very rarely drink alcohol, but he drinks a lot of coffee all day and night, no cream, and no sugar 😊 just hot and black coffee. He is kind of addicted to it 😂
I agree with you about the fight on the pool, about Reacher not kicking really bad the ass of that arrogant kid, BUT if Reacher is perfectly represented on the TV series, the bad guy isn't. Yes, he doesn't have all military fighting training and experience of Reacher, BUT in the book, he is a big, and strong guy, about same size as Reacher..in the TV series they portrayed him as an average guy, but not on the book..so that could explain it in part why Reacher have it hard to kill him. In other books of the series, now and then, Reacher must fight some guys EVEN bigger than him, and they are dangerous and hit as hard as Reacher does.
If you have the time to read any ONE of the books in the series, you could understand many things. Right now l am ready to read the last one "The Secret". Thanks for your reaction it was refreshing.
Even you told me you saw already the trailer of season 2, you could make a video and tell us what is your opinion about it.
Blessings to you and your family and friends!
