It really should have been 8 reasons you should buy an S9, because I completely forgot the fact that it has built in wireless charging! 😁

Can we get a rewind video of the Galaxy S10 or Note 10+? Great content as always BTW 🥂
And you could even connect an external hard disk or an ssd as well i used to connect my 1tb SanDisk harddisk and also able to connect my wireless mouse with the adapter that's free in the box and the akg headphones as well

Wow, this takes me back! So many great features were added in the S9.
Yeah! Back when they were focused on adding features instead of taking them away 😅
and now in the s21, some of them are gone...
@@yux.tn.3641 yeah that's because Samsung used to ask in survey if you use the feature that much is it necessary and the previous Samsung user's didn't use the features that much so Samsung took the decision according to the one who are active on Samsung member apps

The fact that we`re looking back on old flagships made me think that the development in tech as a whole has reached its plateau.
People have always done that. You can also see people talking about the S6 in 2019 etc.
I came from an S6 Edge+ video and yes , I'm thinking we've topped out but maybe I'll eat those words in the future .
Ya, they're just adding gimmicks now and probably for a few years now. Gimmicks
*A* plateau, not the end of all improvement
I remember when they said adding cameras to phones was s gimmick.
They will always improve.

I've had the S9 since it came out. It's never given me a problem. It's actually gotten better with time. That comes down to software, but still.
How is the battery life?
@@Kaitochan18 I can make it through the day without much of a problem
What about the battery life, I have s9 plus and its battery is been worst if we compare to the new one
@@sayedhasnainalishah yeah, if you had it for a long time (i have my s9+ since the first month when the phone was released), surely it's battery would be worst than newer ones (3 years had passed). But still, mine can last 8 to 10 hours of RUclips and Music!
There is no battery life. Using this phone for couple of years. Dont believe to walkers who say battery is good. Only if you using it for calling. Do you know any person who has smarphone and just call??? Batteries are dead in second hand phones.
Had the S9+ in Coral Blue from December 2018 to August 2020, then I upgraded to the S20+ in Cosmic Gray as a Birthday Present from myself. This video makes me miss my S9+ again.
Same 😂 I upgraded from Black S9+ to cloud white s20+ hahaha.

I have had the S9 since it released and the only problem that I ever had with it is the battery. It really does not last long, but other than that this has been a very fun phone to use with its size and performance. Definitely my favorite phone I had ever had.
excuse me what about the camera does you have any problem with it like for example losing details or degrading after updates??
I aggre with u, is the only low point from S9
same problem with the s7
I get my s9 battery to last all day??
i'm considering buying a used one, found one that claims to have been "a spare phone" which doesn't even seem to have scratches or anything...but what would you say about battery life?
I bought my s9 the year it was released and am still using it😍
No regrets😊
This was spot on. I was issued a "reuse" S9 at work and it takes care of all my needs even with company apps. Well done.
I'm digging the colour coordination between your shirt and that awesome pillow
I bought my S9 coincidentally enough 3 years ago and man oh man I still love this thing!! The display is amazing, you get Dolby sound, a GREAT camera, good speakers, a headphone jack, to be very very honest I don't have much to complain about. Honestly I was at best buy the other day and as far as phones under $700-900 phones go I didn't see a single one that I wanted and I had really been wanting to get a new phone haha everything this guy said was true and I couldn't be more happy with my phone.
how much sot do you get?
Imagine if this was being sold as cheaper option instead of A series.
Sure thing 👍
In my point of view, getting this phone is like a MILLION TIMES BETTER than getting a very underpowered phone in that 200$-price range. That being said, a budget A series phone gets more updates and has better battery and stuff like that.
No man, the battery on this is not worth it
Imagine it with updated specs.

Same here, but want that new S22.
I've had my S9 since April 2018. Over three years now. Watching this video on my S9 actually. Still a powerhouse phone to this day with still great specs.
I used an S9 and still love it to this day. It kept impressing me with features and just how slick it feels in the hand. But after 1.5 years of use it did show significant lagging and battery degrade which forced me to switch. However, if I were to stay in the Samsung family, I'd say it was the closest to perfect phone that represented the peak and prime of the S series since all the S models later made deal-breaking compromises such as flat, ginormous screens, higher prices, plastic back, no secure biometrics, etc. I would not have liked S10, 20, or 21 compared to S9
I agree with you, I've been using my S9 for 3 years and the battery got degraded, as well as the performance. the display is great and the phone is definitely nice to hold but my next phone will definitely be something that lasts longer
@STONKS📈 great, thank you for the advice but is this also a thing I should do with a new xiaomi phone?

Bought this back in 2019 when it was already 1 year old. Still rocking it in 2021 without any performance issues. It still feels like a flagship. Notif led and headphone jack are big bonus. I wouldnt think of an upgrade for at least 2-3 years. Battery has worn down a bit over these years but hey we can always swap out
I got a refurbished s9 this past November, and loving it (a big upgrade from the junk ZTE I was using). The only thing it leaves me wanting for is longer battery life. I think its kinda appalling how quickly a phone is consider old. Considering what they cost at launch, and the environmental impact. They need to make it a law allowing phones to have parts replaced easily, and longer software upgrades. Id even be willing to pay for android upgrades.
Still rocking mine, 2023, still love it. Had to buy a new case.
I love my coral blue S9! ❤️
I use it as a secondary to my S20+ right now and I still love how beautiful it looks and how good it feels in the hands, and the amount of accessories it came with is mind boggling to even comprehend in 2021 😂
Am having a LILAC PURPLE S9 Plus, as a secondary, and its never let me down :)
I put aside my S20 ultra (soo heavy) and use my old S9 (with new battery) as my main prone.

I'm still using my S9 of almost 3 years. The one I have is the Exynos version since I'm outside NA. Still getting security updates and yeah, the battery life sucks. But other than that, still works pretty well.
Get a new battery dude
I purchase a new battery on amazon and change myself. I also buy the back cover glass, because It broken in the process. I use as a main phone and a S20 ultra as a secondary, because it weight too much.
My phone's battery does suck, but enabling the power mode (I've set it to Medium Power Saving) did extend the battery to an hour or 2. Though, some functions will be limited. But I'm ok with that. I haven't been out and about due to the pandemic, which means the phone's use to me right now has also been limited.
@@TurnOntheBrightLights. It doesn't matter, the battery is very small and it's not well optimized like the latest smartphones

I got to use this phone recently and mann, I just fell in love with it. Except for the fact that it only supports android 10 and a very low battery life, this phone is just amazing! The Design is the one that makes me love this device more...S9 was the last to have a great design from Samsung, I mean the newer ones are just.....too much(feels). I actually prefer the front bezels of this phone more than the hole punch in the newer ones.
Main reason, to trade it in at Tmobile for a free S21 😂
Wait you can do this??

I have been using S9+ without a case since last 3 years now! This phone is a tank and I really love the design especially the fingerprint sensor at the back and curved display. Due to poor battery back-up and a recently cracked screen, I am now moving to S21+. Hope Samsung continues to amaze as always...
Can this phone be unlocked with a normal pin code, rather than finger print and iris scanner?
This phone also has a Blood Oxygen (and heartrate) sensor , under health->stress. They don't include this anymore and very few other smartphones if any have this. It's a great feature if you have this issue and want to track your blood Oxygen levels.

Loved my S9+. Trying to convince my cousin to get one! The battle of "old flagship vs new budget" aka good camera, bad battery VS bad camera, good battery 😂
Oh ok i would rather have good battery and a bad camera
Just got this phone for my mom as a birthday present. I compared it to many of the lower end "cheaper" models out today and it seemed better than most of them. Came to the conclusion that for a $250 budget it is the best I could get.
This is crazy, but for the past few days, I was only looking for s9 reviews
Why didn't you review the S9 plus instead? It's practically the same price plus 2GB of Ram, 3500mah Battery and a larger display.
I love this guy. Definitely deserves more subs. Keep it up mark!
Thank you Stella!!
s9 user here.. with me for 3 years. Love it always. Can totally prove your reviews about s9 are legit. 💙🤩
I still come back to this phone even after switching to the Apple ecosystem. Been using it like an ipod/phablet instead. Still in amazing condition and the extra 256gb makes it a good storage device for my photos/videos!
Bought s9 when it first came out 4 years ago. It is Jan 31 2022 right now and I still love my phone but the battery life is horrible even though I replaced battery one year ago. I will be replacing battery again this week. Hoping my phone will still last for many years to come. I love the size of this phone, just the right size. The phone has held up amazingly well. Only issue I'm having other than battery life is the volume up button is not responding very well right now. I have to push the down volume button and then when the volume control pops up on touch screen, I up the volume from touch screen. Great phone, just love it. We purchased it with the buy one and get one free so just a really great deal!
I still love the front design of this thing even though I have an S10 lol. Clean, no cutout screen with symmetrical bezels, design looks so sleek.
Although I highly recommend who are looking to buy this S9, should stretch budget slightly more and get the S10 instead. I know I may be bias a bit because I own one 😅 but it makes a lot sense, hear me out.
The best key advantage of S10 is it will still receive update until upcoming Android 12 ! Far cry from Android 9 max on S9 alongside monthly security updates. Next, the camera set is more up to date with 3 lenses built in including both telephoto and ultrawide which is to me the sweetest spot for amount of cameras anyone need in modern smartphone cameras nowadays. Then, all the other typical advancements like better display tech with Dynamic AMOLED, better performance with Snapdragon 855 + 8GB RAM and other niceties like reverse wireless charging, wireless Dex, HDR10+ etc. The best thing is S10 still got headphone jack, albeit the last Galaxy with one 😞 Rip jack
Anyway hope this helps for anyone looking to buy the S9 or "old" flagship on budget, cheers 😁

I've had my s9plus since June 2018. it has zero cracks and is still in super good condition. only issue is the battery but other than that its still amazing and I foresee a few more years with it :)
At 1:50 playing my favourite song made me feel more delighted as the review is beautiful as always! ❤️
I got it in Canada when it came out. Love it and we have already September 2022 . Screen replacement this year. Still working great.
I had a suggestion if you'd like to consider it, could you briefly
show an average estimated cost of a battery replacement for every model you plan to cover, I feel like battery is generally the only thing really holding these great phones back from being perfectly usable daily drivers.
Good suggestion!
I’m an iPhone 12 Pro user, had the S9 when it came out 3yrs ago and what a phone 📱, can do everything the new, updated modern day phones can and in some cases just as effective.
In fact I’ve just bought 1 for use as my company work phone and I’m keeping my iPhone as my personal, this review was paramount to my decision in doing so. Great video.
First off great video! So I bought an S9 a few weeks ago as my first android device and I’ve gotta say I love the display the most, compared to my iPhone XR made the same year. However I noticed that the front facing camera is completely trash. I guess I wasn’t going in with any big expectations, but that is one unfortunate downside. But the display is definitely worth it. As an unbiased take, getting an S9 in 2021 is a great idea for a budget phone since the price decreased significantly since 2018 unlike iPhones which stay at the same price for years since they get continual updates. But other than that, I wasn’t too impressed with the battery life, but the fact there is unlimited customization of the UI it makes up for it. So as a cheap first android phone I’d say it was more than worth $200 without a doubt
I've had mine for over 3 years and still loving it. I've never had a phone last me more than 2 years and I'm about to go into yr 4!!
You should also do a video on the palm phone (super tiny phone) or the ZTE Axon M (sub 200 dollar dual screen phone) for this series! I think they’d both make interesting vids!
Just got mine. Secondary phone to my iPhone 13. Love it
4:58 this is the biggest issue with all the flagship (especially) phones of Samsung. They become very hot. The last iPhone that had the same issue was the 7.
My 2xl doesn't get too bad
Had an s9 for 3 years and a few months before the back panel broke. Honestly it still works and I am surprised by it's durability. No cracks on the screen itself after all this time
This video makes me miss my S9. I upgraded to the S10+ last year after having my S9 for a year and a half but I still really miss the size, no notch, and the tube amp pro feature on the S9!
OMG SAME!
But it is the S9+ is miss so badly
The S10+ is way better then the S9 stop lying to yourself lol
@@CrystalKnote i can respect that. That's how i feel with my S10+ that's why i refused to upgrade anytime soon you become comfortable with your phone since its with you 24/7
3:35 yes they do, it was one of the most useful features after the dedicated button for flashlight, and is the only reason I look at this video instead of just buying an S20
Such a good phone in 2021,love the S9 AND S9 plus so much since they came out, these were phones when Samsung made good reliable phones.
The great thing about iris scanner is that it works flawless even with the mask on😃😃
This S9 is indeed a great phone, loved the vid. Another mid ranger phone which I still use in 2021 along is the Galaxy A8+ launched in 2018. A seriously underrated phone. Great build quality, IP68 waterproof rating, dual selfie cam (16+8 mp), both wide selfie and live focus for front cam, Decent rear single cam 16 mp, utter fast rear fingerprint sensor, 'LOUD' speakerphone, supporting type C with fast charging 3500 Mah battery, VR support, LED notification light, Face recognition, AOD, 2 sim + micro SD option, FHD super AMOLED with 410 ppi display, 'Zero' plastic body construction unlike today's mid ranger Samsung, Corning Gorilla glass 4 on front and Corning Gorilla glass 5 on the back (verified from Corning.com), Aluminium middle frame including the sim trays!, Octa Core processor and a decent 6 GB RAM, 64 Gb internal + 256 Gb expandable without comprising secondary SIM, 3.5 mm earphone jack, support for wireless TV smart view - Miracast 1080p, Fast charging, face recognition, Samsung Pay (with both MST/NFC) - Pretty all-in-package in just 1 model of 2018 which is more than enough even till date! - At least for me 😉
But it's a great phone which still works pretty good- The Galaxy A8+
I just bought one for $20 and its amazing for that price
I just got rid of my Samsung Galaxy S9+ to buy a OnePlus 9 Pro and it's not even a contest...the Galaxy S9+ had become so ridiculously slow running the latest android, that almost nothing could be done. My new phone charges over 4x faster (fastest of any smartphone), is infinitely more responsive and snappy, also has 120Hz refresh, reverse wireless charging to charge your accessories, screen bezel does not warp image on the sides, blacks so black I think my phone dies when the show I'm watching does a transition to black, AI frame interpolation to turn video content such as RUclips into 120fps (looks beautiful), 5g enabled (data is around 3x faster down and up), oh and unbelievably impressive very-low-light camera performance, much closer focusing distance for close-up photography, blows S9+ out of the water in every conceivable way. All I'm missing out on is the heart rate monitor, but I know how to hold my finger to my neck to gauge that already so, yeah...I hard disagree with this video, respectfully.
I paid to repair my s9 instead of getting a new phone love this phone 👌🏾
3:58 just so you guys know, this feature excist in modern budget smartphones. My Realme 7 can do this but that doesn't mean that the S9 is worse. In fact from what I can see, the photo that actually came out looked better than mine selfie panorama shots.
Such a fantastic series! Thanks for the quality content Mark! Can't wait for you to get to 1M subs 🔥
Thanks so much!
Watching this from my 2019 S9❤ I would add that in the box came a usb c cable, a fast charge brick, and AKG earphones which deliver great audio, I still use them! And also it has wireless charging and NFC, pretty cool. I agree with this list, a recently changed the battery and now my phone feels optmimized😊
I've used this phone for 2 years and i would say it was the perfect phone or at least the perfect samsung phone. It checks all the boxes. The battery wasn't a problem as well because u get used to it. Now I'm on my s20 but i do miss some useful features from my s9. Like a headphone jack ofcs, iris scanner and the 3d home button.
I loved the LED notification indicator, I was disappointed when I couldn't find it on the S10. Same with the way you could turn on the phone with the sensor on the bottom of the screen, which the S10 doesn't have. The end of the update lifecycle is unironically one of the selling points for me ('downgrading'). Software updates are becoming more and more draconian and seem to be shifting in favor of 'convenience' which usually means less privacy, and outright surveillance.
Still rocking my S9 since it came out. The clarity of the display and sd option has kept me from upgrading. Still works fairly quick and never had any issues.
Better than iPhone 😫😆😆same here 2018
You are right, I have my s9+ since 2018, and still working fine good camera and all day long batery, why should I change it?
I love these series 💖
You couldn't have said it any better about the sharpness of the resolution! The sharpness is stunning 😍. I have never seen another phone this sharp. Period!
I've got no comment apart from the usual "great video!", so just throwing this in for the algorithm :P
I keep re-watching this video because the way he describes the S9 is enticing and that made me order one.
Hey mark, ive been watching you since you have been starting your channel. Glad people noticed you. And your content has been constantly improving. Best regards! Well deserved.👏👏👏
Thank you for the kind words!
The sound coming out of this phone is amazing, it has better bass than my S20U and it takes really good pictures and videos.
I’m liking this series!
the more I watch these tech rewinds the more I realise that buying an old flagship is better than buying a new midrange
Apart from software update,it's still great
It’s an awesome and gorgeous phone, I hate the new Samsungs and the software update thing has always pissed me off
If it had today's specs, particularly with camera quality these would be flying off the shelf. The 5.8 inch screen is underrated, especially with people who prefer one handed use.
Yeah I'm still on my S9. Works as well as the day I bought it. :)

As a person who had a samsung s7 for 3 years straight this phone is a great phone to get. Been researching all about this phone and think about getting it. I think this phone is really good especially what it's for. The new interface, (probably better battery life then the Samsung s7), gaming, netflix, and so much more!
I need Mark to start one of these by saying "it's Rewind Time"
Great phone, that's why I got the S9 Plus, gives you two extra gigs of RAM bringing it to six, and the screen size is 6.2.
It was a hell of a phone back then and it's a top of the line phone now for the price.
Hey Mark great video , I would like to see the samsung Note 9 for a future video if possible 😀
I still have an S9+ and an S21+, I recently installed a custom ported rom on my s9+ {one UI 3.1} called Noblerom
Only downside is the updates :(
I'm in love with my Note 9, but sadly no updates :(
Still rocking my s9+ 3 year later I still love this phone.
Please make a lava lamp review
Well I still use the S7 Edge and it's crazy how well it's doing. The only thing not that great is the battery, but that is from a big part because I have it for quite some time. But it's gonna be hard to find a new phone with simmilar functions (QHD, wireless charging, jack, notification diode...) for reasonable money. But as my mighty S7 stands I'll use that mighty, old beast!
Still living my S9+ after 4 years but no software update anymore. The screen , sound, iris scanner and camera all are functional. Battery getting down holding less charge.
Great review. Marques Brownlee cameo was a nice touch.
Love the fact that he has a Porsche
911 reimagined my singer as His wallpaper
I got the Galaxy S9+ when it came out because I saw not only the features of the phone were amazing, but that lilac color…I HAD to have it! The camera was great. I could literally just point and shoot and had professional quality photos. I agree with this video when he says the battery life and the screen burn-in problems were the 2 issues that irked me. Other than those, however, the phone was magnificent.
Also, That was the last smartphone with a heart rate sensor. Now, that feature is included with the watches, but not on the phone itself anymore
