I headed out to Emporia for the 3rd consecutive year to participate in La Grind. La Grind is stage race that offers two days of racing but there are also single day options as well as shorter options. I opted for the single day 100 mile option. This event takes place a month before Unbound Gravel so it is a great opportunity for people who are also racing Unbound to test their fitness and gear in The Flint Hills.
Proceeds from this event go to Handle Bars of Hope. I non-for-profit organization that gets people on bikes!
Thank you again to all the amazing people who make La Grind happen!

Thanks for taking the time to put this very enjoyable video together. I also have a love for the smaller events and the unbelievable generosity of the organizers and host communities. Long live uncle Rico!

Dude... the shout out. You are far too kind. Great recap on on the day. #biggravelmiles swag coming soon? I'd fly it!
You are a boss to get those last headwind miles banged out on a soft tire!

Man, I do need to get some #biggravelmiles merch going! And thanks. You are impressive and us big guys got to support one another! Tire situation wasn't terrible. It really didn't get bad till we hit pavement, so it didn't really impact the result much. Good shit, man!

Sucks about the tire issues, but at least you kept at it an kept moving forward. I'm in the NW corner of Kansas and really need to make it down to Emporia one of these years.

Haha! Yea, it's all good. Really didn't take too long or have much of an impact on my finish or time. That's kinda the way it goes in the Flint Hills. Punctures just happen. Yes! Emporia is special. I go there so often for these different races that I've gotten kind of familiar with it. It's a fine little town!

Great vid as usual. Shocked you only have CO2 and not a little hand pump just in case. I always rock a mount that sits under a bottle cage that holds two CO2 cartridges on one side and a small hand pump that works as a CO2 dispenser on the other. But I'm also fat and slow so 100mi even at my best was 11 hours.

Thanks bro! And yes, I actually do have a pump, but it's the kind that like screws on to the valve and takes a bit more time than a Co2. I had another Co2 ready but just didn't want to stop. It really didn't get super flat the 2nd time till we hit pavement. I always cary a pump on the bike. Co2 may fail, but a pump will not.

Outstanding effort. Sorry your tubeless setup failed you!

Thanks, Richard! It's all good. Plugging a tire is better than putting a tube in. If I would have had the same issue with a tube, it would have taken WAY longer.
