  • I review the two bearings I talked about recently. Lts, they're pretty cool. UPDATE: The 16 ball bearing is made by TopYo. It's currently only available in Japanese markets.

    Hello all! I talked with Terry at Rewind in Shibuya. He told me that the 16 ball bearing is from TopYo, and only available in Japanese markets at the moment.
    SpinGear stocks 16 balls from other companies sometimes, but they're currently unavailable. Sorry about the trouble!

    Thanks for doing this video. I'm the person on Instagram that requested it. Personally i don't think the number of balls in the bearing is about spin time or anything. Its about smoothness. Hoping i can find one of these sometime soon.

      +John Wheeler apparently TopYo makes them. Just talked to Terry about it on twitter. And thanks for the request!

      TokYo-Yo Reviews much appreciated info. I've been looking around and haven't found them anywhere. But I'll keep digging.

      +John Wheeler I just talked to Terry at Rewind. He said it's from TopYo in the Japanese market ONLY right now.

    the 16 ball will definitely be more smooth but unfortunately it will have a higher friction coefficient. more balls = more surface area in direct contact which means more friction.

    Thanks... I wonder what the spin time differences would be, though? There's got to be a threshold where more balls actually just becomes more unnecessary contact (drag). Probably quiets ans smooths it, but it's more surface area. I was kinda weirded out when I opened a yoyocreation platinum DS bearing and it only had 8 balls instead of 10, but because if the precision it's still quiet and smooth, but without extra balls adding two eight extra points of contact. Of course each ball is going to have more weight on it the fewer there are, but there's got to be a sweet spot, and without the same exact style and precision/tolerance it's hard to say where that threshold is. Right now I feel like it's 8 because this bearing has my undersized Top Yo Photon spinning longer than any other yoyo in my box including $98 and extreme rim weight models.

    I heard somewhere that the number of balls in the bearing had nothing to do with how long it spins or how quiet it was. Not sure if it is true or not but that 16 ball bearing really grabbed my attention.

      +Ramon Duarte I heard the same thing, and wasn't expecting much, but it immediately felt different. On the throw, the sound, and the smoothness all very unique.

      Yeah the 16 ball bearing sounds nice from the way you described it, I wonder if a 32 ball bearing is next.

      +Jon Maravillia I know right

  • @marioangelo_
    @marioangelo_ 7 лет назад +1

    well actually 16 ball bearing just spin much stabler then the 10 ball or 8 ball, but 16 spin more more slower then the 10 ball
    i've tried it before

    • @TokYoYo
      @TokYoYo  7 лет назад

      +Mario RIO Angelo interesting. The number of balls slows it down?

    • @marioangelo_
      @marioangelo_ 7 лет назад

      i think so

    • @TheSommeguy
      @TheSommeguy 7 лет назад

      Yeah, more balls means more points of contact, so it would probably be smoother than an 8 ball or 10 ball, but it would spin slightly less long.

    • @angeljaimes9703
      @angeljaimes9703 6 лет назад

      TheSommeguy but because there are more balls the heat is distributed thoughout all of the balls which takes longer keeping the spin of the bearing

      Interesting

    is normal bearing also can play many trick??And , konkave bearing is best than normal bearing for beginner??

    • @kikaigazerock6929
      @kikaigazerock6929 5 лет назад

      Konkave bearing hard to mastering for beginner. Because it will returning the yoyo. I prefer flat bearing for beginner to mastering unresponsive yoyos

  • @RO_dude
    @RO_dude 7 лет назад

    You should try the YYR NSK 8 ball (platinum or gold). They are precision bearings and they are extremely silent on a well balanced yoyo. Much more silent then the 16 ball. It's insane. I tried it with a SoSerious Chronos and I would not know if the yoyo was spinning. No lube used.

    • @TokYoYo
      @TokYoYo  7 лет назад

      +Vlad Velciu I think I have an 8 ball NSK gold. Wasn’t that quiet, but super smooth!

      +jungo-sniper I couldn't either. It might be an in-store thing only. It did sound like this one was pretty new.

    Nice video. Might I just suggest (in order to improve your videos) you consider your background, being in Tokyo. You likely have some pretty impressive options.
    Good job though.

      +Richard Mahan thanks for the suggestion! I'm actually not in Tokyo though. :)
      I make it over there once in a while, and when I do I try to film there, like the Shibuya video.
      I'll try to film more in impressive places if I get the chance. :D

    I really doubt that that's a platinum DS bearing, the even the economy DS bearings are 10 ball :/

    • @TokYoYo
      @TokYoYo  7 лет назад

      +TheSommeguy that's what SpinGear told me it was. It does play way differently and quieter than anything I have. I have a platinum 10 ball and it plays just like that :3

    • @TheSommeguy
      @TheSommeguy 7 лет назад

      Huh, that's pretty cool! I have a couple platinum DS bearings, and I'd know one if I used it, so I'll take your word for it!

    • @TokYoYo
      @TokYoYo  7 лет назад

      +TheSommeguy I mean, that's what they TOLD me. :) But we do sometimes have language barrier problems... :3

      Haha, fair enough!
      Say, have you ever heard of the monkeyfingeR Tazmanian Tornado bearing? It really feels different from anything else, in a way that I can only describe as kinda "wild" it's also a 10 ball ceramic hybrid bearing that spins really long, so it's really just a great bearing

    • @TokYoYo

      +TheSommeguy no, that sounds awesome though. :D

      TokYo-Yo Reviews Yeah, I understand completely! I just wouldn't care about yyr bearing Vs yyf bearing Vs Buddha bearing etc.

      @TokYoYo  7 лет назад

      +Saalomon 123 totally with you, although I've heard recently that pixel bearings are a lot of trouble to maintain and lock up a lot
