Honestly I really appreciate you a RUclipsd representing the dark skin community and me myself being a dark skin black girl I’ve been so discouraged to even wear makeup... I literally own no liquid foundation I usually go for some concealer and a bit of powder if I even bother with that otherwise I just do brows and mascara cause it doesn’t frustrate me to look for those things in the store it’s simple... dark brown eyebrows and black mascara... but I’ve been binned watching you this week and I’m pretty sure I’m around your shade in foundation if not exactly maybe like half a shade up from you but it’s such a relief to watch you try on sooo many different foundations and it just works.. and looks so amazing on you.. I don’t feel so intimidated anymore to go to Sephora or the drug store and just find my shade... so thank you because I really have always wanted to wear makeup and express my creativity but just been so discouraged after failed attempts at finding my shade and not having anyone to really help me. If you don't believe me look up the people of the Solomon Islands :). Black people can also be born with red hair, any eye color, and have naturally straight hair without being mixed with any other race. There's also albinism. I'm the only black girl in my office, I'm light skin. My coworkers love asking what am I mixed with and are always shocked when I say just black. My mom was dark skin and my dad is light. Mom passed away when I was 19 and there is a pic of my parents on my desk. One lady told me my mom was beautiful for a dark skin woman. I have to deal with passive aggressive racism everyday I couldn't imagine reading your comments. However, people definitely have said blatently racist and offensive things to me and in my presence, because they assume I'm on the same page as them... It's so uncomfortable finding out how some people really feel, and having the urge to disassociate myself from certain friends, family members, boyfriends, and coworkers. I find people are more outspoken and behave worse when they think someone looks Middle Eastern, like a woman with a head covering for example. And I've seen people just outright call them terrorists in public... It's messed up. All based on skin color and/or dress.
