love that you keep the rod in your dominate hand and reel with the other, no changing hands, surprised how you hooked fish on your presentation but hey who am I to question results lol

Looks like the river there is packed with fish! It's a bit more difficult in our UK rivers as it's very rare you see a fish before you hook it. Our rivers in Northern England tend to be very peat stained. I'd love to get over there and fish a bit lighter! It's pretty cold over here at the minute too! Can't wait until spring!

I watch because of Rebekka, and the fish. She is so fine.

There are so many fish here, you catch some even if the casting technique should be practised.

Raise the tip of the rod and lower the handle. Keep pressure on the fish at all times. You won't lose as many.

Was your trip during a low water period? It seems like there were many fish in just a few small pools. They were decent fish but did not fight very well. More flow would encourage them to run much more line and even get in to the backing.

The comments are hilarious(not in a good way, mostly). Landing one Atlantic Salmon in a day is a great day! I think of them in a way like I do tarpon, get a few good jumps out of them and if they throw the hook so be it. The skill lies in getting the fish to eat the fly in the first place, actually landing it is a huge bonus. I agree that the guide probably shouldn't have grabbed the leader but no one is perfect(I personally would have had her keep backing up to get the fish in shallower water before landing but hindsight is 20/20). Anyway, great channel, great angler, beautiful places and amazing fish. What more could you want?

In reality she didn't really need a whole lot of instruction, she doesn't look anything like a rank newbie although he was guiding her as such???.....and, I do agree as a pro guide he should know better than to hand line her big fish before it was ready.....so no excuses for losing her hog....lol

Get used to putting that fighting butt into your belly button area after hookup , gives you better control and tighter lines, the ole "puttin the wood to em" technique, this allows you to control the fight a bit better. (Salmon fisher from Maine USA)

Why these salmons are so little?? In europe we call "salmon" a fish from 10 pounds up. These seems trout size fish.

Marco Cipriani here in Canada we refer to these smaller ones as grilse

  • @flyman451
    @flyman451 6 лет назад +1

Looks like a typical low water summer with lots of fish stacked up in any pool with some depth and maybe a little cool water. The fish are lethargic. Many looked like grilse, somewhat immature salmon 22" - 24". No much fight. It would of been more exciting in early June with higher water.

You guys always have great videos... i just cant believe that you post like 10 vids/ day... you would get literally 10x AND 10x subscribers if you posted 1 vid/day.. the key is to spread out the videos and post consistently.. just sayin

    • @newflyfisher

oh my god, such a terrible guide... A sacred rule is ... not to catch THE LINE with your HAND.... NEVER !!!!!!!! ... the movements and strenght of the fish will break the line if you catch the line with your hand.... Do you know what a net is ?

And do you know something about fly fishing?? the net is the tool for catch the fish in this situation, not the hands... That´s all, say what you want, that´s a fact. Piss off

I assume he was just frustrated with the amount of time it was taking her to get it in and rushed to get it. While he shouldn't have done it a more experienced fisherman/woman would have been able to control that fish much better.

Junior with tailing gloves and not net... Disappointing.
Edit: this episode is more than half a decade old, so I understand that there wasn't as much understanding with this stuff then.
