we just shot a show there and water was higher and colder, this was a hot summer when done. you will love the new video, especially drone shots of river and underwater video of salmon
love that you keep the rod in your dominate hand and reel with the other, no changing hands, surprised how you hooked fish on your presentation but hey who am I to question results lol
Looks like the river there is packed with fish! It's a bit more difficult in our UK rivers as it's very rare you see a fish before you hook it. Our rivers in Northern England tend to be very peat stained. I'd love to get over there and fish a bit lighter! It's pretty cold over here at the minute too! Can't wait until spring!
The comments are hilarious(not in a good way, mostly). Landing one Atlantic Salmon in a day is a great day! I think of them in a way like I do tarpon, get a few good jumps out of them and if they throw the hook so be it. The skill lies in getting the fish to eat the fly in the first place, actually landing it is a huge bonus. I agree that the guide probably shouldn't have grabbed the leader but no one is perfect(I personally would have had her keep backing up to get the fish in shallower water before landing but hindsight is 20/20). Anyway, great channel, great angler, beautiful places and amazing fish. What more could you want?
In reality she didn't really need a whole lot of instruction, she doesn't look anything like a rank newbie although he was guiding her as such???.....and, I do agree as a pro guide he should know better than to hand line her big fish before it was ready.....so no excuses for losing her hog....lol
You guys always have great videos... i just cant believe that you post like 10 vids/ day... you would get literally 10x AND 10x subscribers if you posted 1 vid/day.. the key is to spread out the videos and post consistently.. just sayin
Was your trip during a low water period? It seems like there were many fish in just a few small pools. They were decent fish but did not fight very well. More flow would encourage them to run much more line and even get in to the backing.
Looks like a typical low water summer with lots of fish stacked up in any pool with some depth and maybe a little cool water. The fish are lethargic. Many looked like grilse, somewhat immature salmon 22" - 24". No much fight. It would of been more exciting in early June with higher water.
Get used to putting that fighting butt into your belly button area after hookup , gives you better control and tighter lines, the ole "puttin the wood to em" technique, this allows you to control the fight a bit better. (Salmon fisher from Maine USA)
@RE Marketing agreed im 17 and i guide on multiple lakes, this guy has 0 clue wjat hes doing, its one thing to be a guide, its another to know how to be a good one, sad
didn't see her hook up on anything I wouldn't have been able to catch and land with my 4 weight rod.. her having an 8 eight rod on these fish she should been able to just frank them in .. * head scratch
Im 17 and i guide for rainbows, lakers, bull, steelhead and coho and chinook...this guy did so many things wrong its not even funny, cant see him being a guide for 20 years, either that or he just does not care. Sad
oh my god, such a terrible guide... A sacred rule is ... not to catch THE LINE with your HAND.... NEVER !!!!!!!! ... the movements and strenght of the fish will break the line if you catch the line with your hand.... Do you know what a net is ?
And do you know something about fly fishing?? the net is the tool for catch the fish in this situation, not the hands... That´s all, say what you want, that´s a fact. Piss off
I assume he was just frustrated with the amount of time it was taking her to get it in and rushed to get it. While he shouldn't have done it a more experienced fisherman/woman would have been able to control that fish much better.
Love these videos but anyone else who watches these wish you could filter out that brain worm of an acoustic guitar. Drives me crazy... probably watching too many of these.
Junior with tailing gloves and not net... Disappointing. Edit: this episode is more than half a decade old, so I understand that there wasn't as much understanding with this stuff then.
What a beautiful lodge! Great show, great advice, really enjoyed it!
Great videos!! Not just a bunch of guys fishing. You actually learn something in every video.Keep up!!!
Looks fantastic, keen to try.
Beautiful nature and sceneries.
beautiful river and fishing...regards to ms.Redd
Love that river. I have been fishing it for 35 years. The water is very low in this video

I watch because of Rebekka, and the fish. She is so fine.

I wish I could afford things like this
Hope you get there some day, wonderful place!

Bekka, Greetings from Sean and Michele from Blackfly.
There are so many fish here, you catch some even if the casting technique should be practised.
Why these salmons are so little?? In europe we call "salmon" a fish from 10 pounds up. These seems trout size fish.
Marco Cipriani here in Canada we refer to these smaller ones as grilse
Raise the tip of the rod and lower the handle. Keep pressure on the fish at all times. You won't lose as many.

good advice
Skinny water. Does Newfoundland have low flow closures?
yes, usually they do close the rivers when low. they just hit bad condition literally when they arrived
He's a guide for 20 years and grabbing the fish like that. Hmmm!
watch 14:51 -15:16

i like that she's not muscling them in
Guide without a net.... that's a first 😂
Barbara. Better implement a low flo closure before the Salmon are all gone!
Bad ass!
👍🎣

I’d like to see you hook into a fresh Atlantic with a 4wt lol
Great videos but you’d loose less fish with a net instead of trying to hand catch them.
Cute girl )
Fly fishing really is getting yuppie and sick!!
I think i found my wife....
Better teach her how to hold a fly rod. Also tell her to stop being so wierd. Its wierd how she talks to the fish. That's just my thoughts. Lol

Jesus who are you to judge. A 1 year newbie to the sport...let me guess you were a golf expert when tiger was around..Piss off

we have reduced that nothing in new vids, thanks for feedback
use a net !!!!

You're right.. this is an older episode and we now know the science behind the use of tailing gloves.

True. I didn't see the date, sorry.
The guide looks a lazy cat...
