#GORUCK #Mackall #ruck #rucking #runner #trailrunning #GR1
So question about the insole being a tad think did it not bother you or did you swap it out
I haven’t changed anything
Ordered a pair today had the Mac v 1 for many rucks
You’ll love it!
More comfortable than the MACV 2s?
Yes. I prefer the low style. And I have zero issues rucking.
First, thank you for the reviews. They have been helpful several times. Second, it might be worth trying the Rough Runners. They are some of the most comfortable shoes I've worn if not the most comfortable. I am ordering a second pair just for rucking since the first pair are now my everyday shoes. I also have a pair of Mackalls and I like them a lot as well. I am also going to try the Ballistic Trainers soon and maybe the MACV-2 for winter hikes. The combination of comfort and stability in the Rough Runners makes them my go to shoes but the Mackalls will get a lot of use as well. They are both shoes I will buy again. I'm looking forward to trying the Ballistic Trainers and the MACV-2 boots to see how they compare. I have just started rucking witha 20lb weight and have a 30lb ready for when I move up. It has been good so far and once the 2nd pair of Rough Runners gets here it's going to be even better.
That’s funny. I just picked up a pair of Rough Runners. Looking forward to putting some miles on them this week. I love the Ballistics as training shoes. I’ve had several pairs for quite a while. Really like them.
@@JBOutside1 I hope they work for you. GORUCK's footwear has really impressed me so far. As long as they end up being durable, which I expect they will, they have a loyal customer. I just placed the order for the Ballistic Trainers and will probably order the MACV 2s in a few weeks after the 2nd pair of Rough Runners. I forgot to mention the Rucker 4.0 but it is great as well. Comfortable and stable on the back. Thank you again for your time and information as it has helped a lot. Before rucking I hiked a lot and even with less weight the importance of a good pack and pair of shoes was apparent.
Mackalls vs Rough Runner for Rucking--care to share which one is the best?
@@heygeo I like them both. The Rough Runners are comfortable both for rucking and everyday wear. The Mackalls have good arch support and feel like they have less cushion but are still comfortable. I use the Rough Runners on concrete/asphalt and the Mackalls on dirt or grass trails. If I could get only one it would be the Rough Runners since I use them more but I would buy either type again.
@@heygeo on road: RR, off road: M. Can only get one: M
This is what I have been looking for. A low top with some meat on the bone. Do feel its better to Ruck on pavement with this over a running /walking lightweight shoe?
Good question. If you already primarily ruck on pavement, you wouldn't need these. If you want one shoe to do it all (both on and off road) then these are perfect. I've rucked on pavement with these and they do just fine, just a bit overkill.
@@JBOutside1 I would like to use them on trails too.
Wanna order a pair for trailrunning. Do i need to go a full size up? Or just my true size
I wear a 9 in every running shoe pretty much and all my GORUCK footwear is a 9.
Wow thnks for the quick response!
And is that your true size or just your running shoes?
Cause i’m new to rucking and want a shoe to ruck and for trail runs i have a mud run(19km 11.8mile) coming up and wanna use them for the run too
@@johnnyhuwae yes
Thanks for taking the time to answer. I just ordered my first pair and cant wait
@@johnnyhuwaeHow are they for you so far? Any complaints on traction or feel when hiking and running on off road trails?
Are the toe box on these wider then the trainers? Find the trainer toe box too narrow.
Not noticeable for me. About the same
@@JBOutside1 Thanks for the reply! I'll go up a half size and try them. Enjoying my rucker4.0 and just ordered an m23 26l in blk for travel.
Are you still wearing these
Yes, still awesome for offroad use
@@JBOutside1 gotcha. I think I’ll get the ballestic trainers for more everyday use. Need a mix thx mate
Thanks for the video!
New to rucking... does not having the ankle support on these like the MACV-2 matter much?
Personal preference in my opinion. I’ve done both ways and prefer low top trail running shoes for rucking and GORUCK events. So these are perfect for me and for both those uses
@@JBOutside1 Just received a pair of the Mackalls. I like them! How snug/loose should they fit? Trying to decide if my pair is a half-size too big as the heel seems to slip some unless tightened more than I like.
@@markw5144 mine are true to size. Based on what you said I might go a 1/2 size smaller 🤷🏼♂️
@@JBOutside1 yeah went ahead and started the exchange for a half size lower. Other than that it looks like a great pair
Btw, ankle support comes from the heel box and not the height of the shoe.
Higher shoes mainly protect the bones on your ankles from scuffs and water ingress.
Real stiff D boots might give a bit added ankle support but it's negligeble
Think they would work as a backpacking/hiking shoe? AT OR PCT?
That’s a great question. I would certainly give them a chance. They are on the heavier side of trail running shoes. If you wanted ultra light because of the distances maybe not. But to be honest I would have used these on my climb up Mt Rainier in July as approach shoes if I had these then. So I guess I’m a strong maybe for AT/PCT
Did you end up getting them?
true to sizE?
Yes. I’m a size 9 in almost all running shoes. My GORUCK footwear is all size 9
@@JBOutside1 Ty for confirming I used the true-to-size parameter I am size 9.5 in Hoka Arahi 7s so I chose the corresponding 9.5 for the Mackalls. I hope it works out!
How are they for rucking on pavement?
Good so far. No issues. They’re a little heavy compared to running shoes but I’ve literally worn them everywhere, all day for 6 days.
@@JBOutside1Are you still wearing them everywhere or have you switched to something else? I just got into the ballistic trainers and have been wearing them everywhere. Besides the more aggressive outlaw, how would you say the Mackall compare to Ballistic in weight feel and traction? I’ve had the Gen 1 MACV-1 and bought the Ballistic because they’re lower was similar to the boot and it just seemed like a great option to get a shoe that resembled the boot I loved. What do you think?
@@RobertGaron More cushy feel compared to BT and great tread. slightly heavier than BT too. But a great all-around rucking shoe and trail hiker.
ROFO! Ruck On & Find Out
😜
No stitching on soles just glue. Ehh
😎
isn't that bad? I mean the glue could be worn by time in extreme condition like rain and heat and such
