ThatsLudacross i heard him say groups of people and i was confused cus like at one point in my life my favourite thing was my chemical romance which is a band whch is also a group of people so itd be unfair not to count that into it so idk
So what we can conclude about Tom Scott's audience is that the majority of them are tired, bisexual nerds who need a bit of human interaction. And I fit perfectly into that classification
Could this be a yearly poll where we find what the "world" is into at that moment and maybe see if the polling size could increase. amazing video. lovely concept.
I bet the audience would gladly take part in it monthly for a year, but yearly might not work out. Then again, it'd get hacked easily. And with a lot of work involved in user tracking, would require 3 tries or a botnet.
Once a year I think would be the best frequency. Biggest problem I could see is one that Tom mentioned in the video; it would give those interested a _lot_ of time to work out how to game/hack the poll.
I wager sleep will go undefeated until we discover a way to eliminate sleep but still get rest, then that will be undefeated. I wonder where coffee/caffeine were on the list
There is a simple fix against ppl trying to hack it: give each human an id, preferably of the physical kind like the signing devices banks use. Or, yknow, you could go cheaper and have either a banner telling bots to go away, or a checkbox humans can check to verify that they are humans.
to be fair, not everyone likes or gets sex. i don't ever wanna have it, im a very sex-repulsed ace. and there's probably a significant enough overlap between tom scott's viewership and the sort of extremely online nerd who just doesn't care about sex (for whatever reason) for it to have an effect.
so a cartoon character or superhero with those traits would be very popular among this group of likely nerds. Marvel, DC, you have the formula for a hit.
I wanted to show this to mom when I got home from work. But while waiting to show it to her I took a nap and was out half the night. I finally woke up at like 8, ate dinner and finally got around to showing it to her and….the answer was right in front of me the entire time. The very thing I was doing.
It would be fascinating to see a bunch of creators from all different communities run the same poll to see how different sections of the internet compared to one another. Both the differences and similarities would be fun to speculate about.
What would be more fascinating would be for Tom to have created two separate independent rankings - A and B. When a new user shows up on the website, randomly allocate them to either A or B. Then, at the end of the voting period, compare Poll A and Poll B's top 10 - that'd tell us if all of these were random, or of there's some trend to it.
but I mean it's not like our brains are biased we actually think about it and idk maybe I would say the hand or foot but even then the brain is obviously the best since without it we would be a mindless and floppy piece of meat
As a perpetually online english bi who needs sleep desperately, i wish i voted in this poll. also these results were actually just gold how did it happen
"Space and Time are the same things"- proven by Hardcore maths by einstein. "Space and Time are the same things" - proven by Tom Scott and a bunch of English Speaking Extremely Online Nerds 8:39
i could watch an hour of this video. idk what it is about people ranking things that makes my brain go bananas. i think just the chaos of trying to rank things is lovely
A small moral victory, but hey in these god awful times you've really got to take whatever wins you can from wherever you can get them. Hope you're able to recover and things get a whole lot better for you ♥️
For some reason a simple(kinda) video about the best thing in the world, has made me laugh more than most things on RUclips as of late. Loved this. Could not contain myself when privacy came below pizza

Someday, I hope to develop a petty grudge against a harmless object that is so engrossing I make a username about it. That sounds like a fascinating experience.

@@user-vr8bn6jb3m please stop, you're incredibly obnoxious.
@Mycel that's a very big assumption
So what we can conclude about Tom Scott's audience is that the majority of them are tired, bisexual nerds who need a bit of human interaction. And I fit perfectly into that classification
Same for me except being bisexual.

@@zbzbzbzbzb3288 Monthly every year might work out just by keeping people aware
I would have expected the top 10 to be something like:
Air, food, water, sex, rest, play, compassion, contentedness, peace, escape, nothing.
I like how shelter and family isn't on this list.
arrogant of you to assume food instead of pizza
@@noone3708 Not arrogant, but sensible.
to be fair, not everyone likes or gets sex. i don't ever wanna have it, im a very sex-repulsed ace. and there's probably a significant enough overlap between tom scott's viewership and the sort of extremely online nerd who just doesn't care about sex (for whatever reason) for it to have an effect.
@@toothfairy10133 Know that you are in the minority. There are also some people who don't like food too.
Tom Scotts audience, sleepy, bisexual, and deeply concerned about the earth's magnetic fields.
so a cartoon character or superhero with those traits would be very popular among this group of likely nerds. Marvel, DC, you have the formula for a hit.

Apparently none of these people have eaten a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos while getting some neck.
You should run this every year and then consolidate that data, I think it would be really interesting 😊
Might cause bias to be more easy to find then, though...
