Thank you very much for this tip just did it with a transponder key I purchased online, now I just have to get it cut lol you think Walmart or home depot will cut it if I paid a normal price for a key.
I think those kiosks just want to sell you a key. Take it to a locksmith or maybe an Ace Hardware store. Not sure what they will charge, but it shouldn't be too much. Also EBAY may have a key cutting machine that you can buy and you can cut all your own keys, whatever they may be. Probably not the cheapest way to go though.
I venture to say that the ECM may recognize the new setup(key and ignition), but the original key fob may not work. It would be a dealer thing if all does not go well.
Yes it is. The programming was very easy. Temps hit 104 with 30% humidity yesterday...makes my work outside difficult but there will be more repairs soon.
You will have to take it to a dealer for that...OR you might buy some test equipment (amzn.to/35GHLW1) and watch these two videos to get an idea of what to do... ruclips.net/video/pZfXuuzORZo/видео.html ruclips.net/video/WDl4Ix4xHvw/видео.html * Disclaimer... Hey Ron, I just picked up an old HHR and pretty much hear the same thing when she starts up. It goes away after a few seconds or so but it concerns me. Are you talking about slack or what? I thought there might be a way to adjust the guides on this motor if that's the case.
that turned out very well, so you didn't have to have the dealer to program the key?
