It's nice to see the engine is still a Nissan engine, plus VQ in an S13 is not a very common swap (turbocharged no less) - pretty cool car and product.
The UK is packed with absolute engineering genius talent .
Your right it is, but in this case it’s been done many times before elsewhere in the world.
The real talent is being able to integrate it to various vehicles
Pretty sure guys at TurboLamik in Poland did this first.
@@SomeOne_86 wouldn’t surprise me, the best “make do, make it work” mechanics in the world imo.
At the end of the video we say it’s been done before by turbolamik in Poland 👍
@@TwinEngineCorsa statement regarding your uk-centric view retracted.
Keep it up mate. Love your channel, it’s very nostalgic for me.
Great to see JDM dyno Johnathan getting recognition he deserves after all these years, smartest guy I know and scruffiest haha. Best Tried/tested GB system on market and best priced!. Great to see Fabios beast finished too. ❤
What sorta money does this setup cost?
Those gear changes are bloody satisfying
Game changer! I watched a HP Academy video with Andy Forrest's time attack Subaru, explaining how he set-up the GTR dual-clutch transmission to operate more like a true sequential box and get a spike up in acceleration on shifts!
There are a few options for doing this now: going for a "MAXXecu" might be the cheapest option if you need a standalone ecu for your engine as it supports 8hp control (but only one box atm, I think 8hp75) as well as the usual engine stuff out the box. There's also "CanTCU" which doesn't require any soldering, supports some OEM ecus and standalone ecus, but no 'Virtual Clutch' pedal.
This TCU looks basically like a copy of the TurboLamik or HTG setups (which do both have virtual clutch afaik), which isn't a bad thing. Options are good. FWD 8hp control would be the real game-changer here.
I am going the maxx route now on my ps13 I had a turbolamic on my k swapped ae86 but maxx is the way forward ifs killing 2 birds with one stone
There are options to go dsg if you want a fwd solution
Such a cool setup, you'd think this should be hugely popular for drift cars and track cars giving people the option for a sequential who wouldn't be able to shell out 10,000 to £15,000
It’s progressed even further since this video was recorded.
This was right at the start of the process
@ love it mate! Definitely one going in the Batsun
He has just done my Impreza with a 8hp70 , worked it out at 62ms between gears
Standalone ecu or fully integrated into the canbus?
@@R6AAO running a dta T12+ same as the one as in the video
What was the cost, if you don't mind sharing? I ask because my rs6 has the 5hp26a and its crap.
For the full package (box to engine adapter kit, billet vq flexplate, gcu and the box it's self) just over 3k depends on your build entirely
@fabiohoward8593 3k... 3 fukin grand! Jeezus christ that's CHEAP! If you take a sit down I'll tell you what the 5hp cost me to repair and it's going to pop again at some point.... Only £7k... £7,000. I could have got 2 of those setups and saved one for a rainy day.. I feel so dumb and done by.. Like I should be curled up crying in the shower... "WHY MEEEEEE..... WHY HY HY HY"
So many ways to control gearboxes in development, each one is interesting in its own way
Awesome video as always 👌
Love the initiative and ingenuity!
Johnathon’s a genius
Bro don't be sharing this secret sauce, we don't want these prices to blown up!!
I love that the dude has figured it out but, what are all the demo rigs on the floor? Surely a couple of work benches in a clean space wouldn’t go amiss?
His motto is you can't drop it from the floor
Do they have a standalone version? A box like this would be nice on a fully mechanical OM606.
@AshGTE he does indeed
This kit is really cool, but you have to evaluate the cost because fueltech already does this and also manages the engine
The car hit beyond its goal eventually, and the box has been working as advertised since
The guy driving the s13 on the Dyno sounds like Nigel Mansell
So, is it still a slush box?
Great video! are you interested in trying ATOTO X10 car stereo or the CB6 Wirelss Car Smart Box? Or other products such as speakers or subwoofers?
Much love i wish i could put one on my Evolution
Disabled the paddled shifts off the stering wheel, wiring from paddles goes to ecu, from ecu to the gearbox, gearbox converts paddle shifts to what you think is sequential.
This can be used to convert to Sequential not just on something that already has paddles, even with an old carburettor and standard ignition, it can have paddles and shifter if you want and a clutch pedal if you want, The TCU is a standalone controller to control any 8hp gearbox
‘Play with the box’ 😂
um dia vou aprender sobre preparação
honestly pretty damn cool.
What's the difference between this controller and the TurboLamik controller???
Hello by chance do you have the links or websites for parts needed for this sequential swap?
Wow thats brilliant
😂 My Prelude came with a sequential thing like that (but it doesn't have planetary gears).
How do i buy it?
so whats this kit does better than turbolamik one?
WHY DO I NEED TO SEARCH HIM UP TO FIND WHO HE IS, IS THERE A LINK TO THIS GUY THAT HE SELLS THEESE SETUPS ???
DDE did this to lambo a while ago
Minted mate
How much is the set up
What's the brand of this?
Very interested in this for my Fiat Coupé. I just happened to notice a Scotts Green Coupé at the start of your video and a Broom Yellow at the end! Do you know if it would work on these cars? Packaging must be a big issue with transverse engines...
Sorry it's not available for fiat Coupe, unless you did a huge job converting it to RWD
@jdmdynosystems6119 why is that then? I'm completely ignorant, I confess, but the Coupé platform can be converted to use the 4WD drivetrain from Lancia/Alfa Romeo. Is this such a stretch? I might be clutching at straws here but I started getting ideas of a 4WD box that could handle a decent amount of torque as the above 4WD systems are weak...
@Trappygit the 8hp gearbox is Not a transverse mounted gearbox, the fiat and lancia gearbox is transverse mounted with a transfer box on the 4wd version, very different from the bmw and audi 8hp gearbox, there is a transverse mounted 9hp but I've not done anything with them and don't know how good they are
Isnt a "flappy paddle" essentially a sequential gearbox?
What is the actual advantage of this system ?
You have a cheap strong gearbox, you can use paddles, shifter and clutch pedal if wanted. An you can make this gearboxes fit almost anything. Opening a cheap option for people. Take the Cosworth YB market, stock boxes are not strong, a proper say sequential box is £10k plus. You can have a package for around £2500-3000 done and in the car which can hold 1000hp.
so where could i get this in the us like where could i buy this
Facebook JDM Dyno Systems
Link to their channel?
Interesting 😁
I don’t get why everybody bashes autos.. the dct’ are phenomenal, and surely they’re not a million mile away from sequential’s relatively speaking
I think most people don't understand that modern auto boxes are manual boxes with auto gear selection. The older slush (wandler) boxes were crap and sucked the life out of the driving experience.
Nobody in the comments said anything about dodge stole Nissan tail lights for the charger 🙄🤷🏽♂️
I have an alfa romeo giulia Q4 and I'm curious if they'd be able to work with that platform. Also Im in the USA
Facebook JDM Dyno Systems the will be able to answer any question you may have 👍
@@TwinEngineCorsa don't have facebook but I'll try to get in touch over instagram. Thanks so much, very cool video and lots of great info
@THESLlCK I believe the Giulia q4 is an 8hp so probably would be able to control it, I haven't got much info on that setup so would need more info
@ yes it's a BMW sourced 8HP, lightning quick. Where can I best contact you?
💯🔥🔥🔥
How do you get a sequential trans pls let know thanks
JDM Dyno Systems are the company
This is like what DDE did with a Lamborghini. Not as in depth with ECU ( the Lambo ) and stand alone.
Quiet popular conversion in Oz...
Ain’t this what turbolamik already make?
Yes but for all the ranges of gearboxes from what I am told. As this has options for throttle cable rather than needing DBW. A lot more versatile system for alot more options.
does this work with the 300zx auto?
Or skip all the faffing about and fit a maxxecu which will control engine And dct7, dqxxx, 8hp etc directly.. They way your showing is now prehistoric tbh
Here is a good video of a 8hp gearbox drift car driving on the road it’s definitely the best gearbox in my opinion people first started using the DCT BMW gearbox but found it just doesn’t work well getting it to work in a different car. I will be contacting JDM
ruclips.net/video/U5iPV0j2nXA/видео.html&pp=ygUPdHVyYm8gbGFtaWsgOGhw
So it's a cheap version of the 5hp...
Your too late, Go and drive a evo x with semi auto / manual . It is the exact thing your talking about.
Tidy.
rubbish i have a sequential in my honda prelude, no where near as good as a good driver and a manual, im converting mine to manual next week they are sh!t
This guy still rigging up cars ffs
