Best band ever to come out of Scotland I cannot get over how many Scott’s haven’t heard of them 🤷🏻♂️ 🤦🏻♂️ my all time favorite band t o this day while I am alive Stuart will live until the day I die legend 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🏴🏴
Stuart Adamson loved playing that guitar. This concert is amazing to behold.
Legendary indeed!
Always had respect for those festival fans, dancing & singing along in that pouring rain...like that girl/woman at the front in the black vest, jumping, dancing & singing in the rain to every word & note like her life depended upon it!
Living the experience. Those were the days.
Days indeed.
R.I.P. Legend.
Best ever band. Missing Stuart. What a genius. He came. He shared. He left.
Simply fantastic..My favourite ever band smashing it..God bless you Stuart.
Watching Stuart at 37:02 & 38:28 dancing really makes one sad and happy at the same time. Left us way too soon.
Love the way he seamlessly incorporated "Wild mountain thyme" into Fields of fire. And then "Chance" Possibly my favourite ever track. Left us way soon.. Never heard anyone with a bad word to say about him. A rare thing, a genuinely nice guy'
" Never heard anyone with a bad word to say about him. A rare thing, a genuinely nice guy'"
OMG! that smile! He smiles and all the world is perfect!
One of the best live bands for me and I've seen Thin Lizzy, SAHB, Humble Pie down the years.
Thank you, thank you very much for uploading this fantastic concert. Despite the fact that is was raining cats and dogs BC really played their asses off! What a great band. FOR ME Big Country was the best of all 80's bands - forget all this synthy trash. THIS was really hand-made music!
As a 15 year old i travelled to watch my band and still watching now
I remember being there and dancing in the rain! What an absolute party that was!! Having the fondest memories of this event!
Weren't musicians in danger playing in the rain?
@@gmansi Yes! They played anyway…
Wow! @@thomasrehorst1801
I was lucky to see them once live. Miss his voice!
These guys toured like Talk Talk. RIP Hollis...
BIG COUNTRY ... Maestros 👍👍👍👍🎶🎵🎤🎸🎻🇵🇪
One of the best post 80's periods of Big Country.
OMG Stuart is greatly missed ! what a voice !
Awesome concert, true professionals battling through the pouring rain too.....thanks for posting this.
What a performance!!!! Stuart will always be missed.
My freaking absolute favorite version of Wonderland! He is so in his element. I freaking LOVE IT!
Heartbreaking to watch Stuart Adamson firing on all cylinders not knowing the great decline was not far away. They don't make them like him any more. RIP the music industry as we knew it.
Yeah, 3 months after 911, in a closet... (nitrous?)😧
@@cabbey31 The autopsy report stated he had "a blood-alcohol content of 0.279 percent" and his actual death was caused by "asphyxia due to hanging". Whilst I miss him as an inspiring man of words and song, I can't imagine how his kids must feel.
@@thedrumdoctor yeah but how do the rest of us *feel* - I already had a best friend commit suicide on my watch, in '88. I get it - my GF threatened me w/ suicide non- *STOCK* - thx the GHADS I abandoned that... (or did I?)
And yeah, they said the same thing about Delores O'Riordan... (BAC .29 or .34 or sum *SH!* )
@@cabbey31 Certainly, it's tragedy for all involved and we'll never know whether they meant to actually succeed or whether they were hoping to be found before they passed. A childhood friend of mine went the same way via self-hanging on a short drop. Another guy I know tried the same thing but was found in time - a cry for help maybe? Life is fragile and inner-strength a precious commodity. Some people are great at hiding their inner turmoil and leave us in extreme states of shock when they do the unthinkable. Strangely enough, I spoke to Mark Brzezicki about Stuart's passing and he told me it took the whole band by surprise. Yes, they knew he had on/off drinking problems and they never dismissed a full band reunion at some point. But they never thought he was the kind of person who would resort to taking his own life. I guess some things are beyond our control, no matter how hard we try to do the right thing for our friends and family.
Boy they were so good live. Wish I had seen them in concert. Rest in Peace Stuart. We miss you and your music.
Never say never. Stuart (the best of the best) may not be up on stage with the guys today.....but the music is STILL 5 STAR. Simon Hough is a worthy singer. I'm off to watch them again next Tuesday in Barnoldswick at a great little venue. Try to catch them again. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. ;-)
Yet again BC you've rekindled memories! The 90s were a blur...but I now remember they promoted this album at a lot of independent record stores around the country...i saw them at Ainleys in Leicester....they all signed the CD.. .and Tony put a smiley face on the dogs nose 😂😂..attic here I come....RIP Stu.....
I find it absolutely weird that people can miss Stuart. I mean, how can you watch a performance like this and miss him? I love it! I love him. He makes me so happy!
I think one can miss the talent that he had and what other great songs we might have missed, with his life cut short….
He was in his prime and I bet he had loads of great songs still in him, which we will never get to hear… (at least not here on earth… 😉)
There loving it live .Tonys Bass right up in the mix rocking it 👍
superb saw them a few times and the skids live a few times yeeehaaa
Thanks for uploading. BC's passion still gets the blood racing, so much great music
The iconic sound by Big Country, can't be matched. I really miss this Band!! All of the band members are just awesome. RIP Stuart, i hope u are up there ,and enjoy your pint!
I know he is. I can wait to get see him and share a pint but I will also not cry any tears when I get to.
I pay tribute by going to see his 1st band the Skids who still play a lot in Scotland Bruce and his son play guitar so it is a spiritual thing and it Rocks
GENIUS....................
Love the guitar. No, I love everybody in the band. Thank you for sharing. Amazing they still had so much spirit.
Hi Andy! 230 am here and here we go again! Luv this concert!!😊♥️
Great Post. many Thanks ❤
Saw these guys live twice in the mid nineties, what a privilege. Rock City, Nottingham in '94 and Northampton Balloon Festival in' 96. I grabbed his hand and shook it at the latter gig. I remember he had the most intense haunted look in his eyes..
I was a Northampton great gig
A mature Big Country and a great Stuart! He let me think on Hugh Cornwell, also a great frontman. Hugh left the band. Stuart also but too too soon!! Thanx for uploading!!
Thanks for the post, so lucky to have seen this fantastic band a few times in the 80's. Thank you Stuart, Mark, Tony and Bruce for some great music 🎶 let's hope Stuart found some peace x
Andy, thanks for posting this gem. I so wish I could have seen BC with Tony on bass and Stuart up front. The joy they show in their playing is contagious!
amazing 👏👏👏RIP stuart 🙏
Unbelievable....thanks for posting.....the one group I wished I had seen live.....
It is 3am here in Canada and I don't sleep well, so I usually am up watching Big Country on you tube! It has turned into a happy nightly habit.Seems I need Big Country to sing me to sleep.Lol.I really do love their music and to by being up this late I get to sometimes say Hi and Thank You to you !😊😊
We're awake at the same time! Happy viewing and i hope you sleep well afterwards! 😘😊
You and me both Darlin"
I know about the disease that took him, deeply. Although he left too soon, at least he was able to get his music out to the people of the world and create something lasting. I was cut short by it and have dozens of hours of music that no one will ever hear. Thanks for posting this stuff. Clips like this remind me of how much I loved performing.
Wow. Great to have this and brings back great memories of seeing them in 95 at the mean fiddler on Wexford street in Dublin. Thanks mate
Was there. In Dublin. I remember 2 ghouls started to have a fight and Stuart had to stop the gig
@@padraigsisk4057 there's a video of him stopping another fight at a US gig in the mid eighties.
See this, crowd having a great time in the pissing down rain, kids on the stage taking pics, Stu not being an attention whore for the camera, more about the beautiful playing of that guitar for the crowd, no one watching it through a stupid mobile, No trouble...you want me to stop yet?...and folk ask me why I say after 2005 you can push everything in a fkn furnace for me, snowflakes have no life, they think they have but are wrong, 70/80/90s best decades ever to be a teenager and i lived it all, my g/f had a brand new Escort Cosworth back in '95, and I had my '68 roadrunner....still have today...life was fkn awesome
What a concert, 2021 was meant to be the year, that I should see Big Country. The date is set for 2022. Hoping....
Thanks sooo much for sharing! Utterly brilliant. Stuart and the boys totally rocks. Lost Patrol is my fav!!
Thanks for the posting....takes me back. Wish i could have seen them more than once in person!
Thank you so much for this upload! Until now I didn't know that this concert was filmed professionally.
I was there. I was 12 years old at the time and went to the Fest with my parents. Never heard Big Country before but I liked this band from the very first song they played. Then it started raining so heavily that most people fled from the scene while others were partying even harder. Some people had fun sliding down the muddy hill. Before the concert was over, my parents wanted to leave. Although my clothes were completely wet with water inside my shoes, I was a disappointed that I had to leave because I was really enjoying the music.
Luckily, I could see this band again one month later as opening act for the Rolling Stones. That was great, but of course it was not as magical as this night in Karlsruhe.
BC FOR EVER 💝..👍
Holy cow, you had some cool parents.
"Although my clothes were completely wet with water inside my shoes, I was a disappointed that I had to leave because I was really enjoying the music."
🤣
"Luckily, I could see this band again one month later as opening act for the Rolling Stones."
Wow, opening a Rolling Stones show!
Amazing concert with rare live songs and a wonderful crowd! I am so excited about this concert as also about your witty and promising comments. The exact day of your upload I visited Dunfermline and noticed that the ESP guitar - which Stuart played during the last five songs of this concert- is at display at the Carnegie Library and Galleries there. Lovely coincidence. Thank you so much once again!
I wondered what happened to that iconic guitar. I'm pleased to hear it's on display for all the public to see.
Thanks for the info. I’ve always wondered what happened to the yellow ESP!
@@lisaknell1809 You're welcome. Stuart's guitars are in various places to be found globally. Quite a few in Hard Rock Cafés (one of them in Buffalo). His lucky charm guitar (Fender Stratocaster Antigua) carefully restored on display during the Scottish Pop exhibition in the National Museum of Scotland in 2018. Additionally a lot of them held in private ownership. I am most fortunate to be one of them. Keep well Lisa I truly enjoy reading your comments on this BC1000stars YT Channel!
@@elvia5935 I’m glad they’re being taken care of. Sadly the black Moon tele prototype is in a Hard Rock. It wasn’t in very good shape unless it’s been restored. Another iconic guitar and it made me really sad to see it in disrepair. Andy’s channel is great!
@@lisaknell1809 Andy's Channel is my absolute favourite one on YT! And I am sorry to hear about the unfortunate state the Moon guitar is in! One of my most beloved guitars....... 😔
thankyou so much for posting, amazing band. saw these guys at Reading Festival back in 83 and actually went to see them last night in Northampton.. still a great great band
Crazy good band! Why do we lose so many good ones? "I only ever wanted to be taken in by you." Yes.
Hey Hey Andy!Wow Thanks so much you have once again shared another amazing concert.I have been searching for this DVD and you are quite correct it will be difficult to find.I sure love that you have shared this with us because now I can ENJOY this concert as well as Wolfsburg thanks to you! So Awesome Thanks😊😊♥️
I gotta say, Bev that your question about the release was the prime inspiration to do this one. Thanks as always for your kind comments and support.
Stay Alive and enjoy the clip!
God, he was such a babe!❤️
God only knows your reasons Stuart but I wish you were here. RIP
Why are the songs titled wrong? Were they known like that in Germany?
Greatest Band Live Ever.❤
Wow where do I get these fantastic videos from
pure glory!
Wow!
This is a great concert and video! I keep coming back to watch specific songs. Love "Sail Into Nothing" song and watching the audience dancing in the rain is amazing! The girl yelling at the camera man is hilarious! Do you know what the reference to "sail on crystal wings" line refers to? (I hope it's not drugs as it seems like such a romantic song.)
Absolutely no drug reference at all in it. Stuart is trying to describe the delicacy and tenderness of the relationship. 🙂
@@BC1000Stars Thanks for the quick response. What an awesome way to write about that subject! Thanks for your insight!! Do you know if there are any books that talk about the stories behind the lyrics to their songs? Also, I'll be in Scotland Sept 9-15. Any Big Country things you can recommend I check out? I was going to see if they'll be playing (and Kirsten too) anywhere while I'm there. I was thinking it would be cool to get my college age sons some plaid pants and maybe look in a music/book store for BC memorabilia.
Hi Joanne! You're welcome!
Well, there aren't any books especially on the meanings of the songs but there is a dedicated Big Country podcast called The Great Divide - The Big Country Podcast and in that the boys go into great detail about meanings of lyrics.
I believe there's an exhibition in Edinburgh where some BC stuff is on display including one of Stuart's guitars. In Dunfermline itself, some fans have put together a map of all the BC things in the town to check out. Let me know if this interests you and I'll get one to you. I'm so pleased you're visiting Scotland. I have been twice and am desperate to visit again.
Stay Alive and best wishes from Australia.
Andy.
@@BC1000Stars Thanks for all the tips! I'll check out the podcast. I would love a copy of the map you mentioned. Let me know how to private message you my info. Much thanks from California!
I listened to the podcast (and followed them on Facebook and signed the petition!) Great listen! Let me know how to private message you for the map you mentioned.
If you include 'Das Fest' in the title, you're sure to get more views for this one.
Back here again 👍
STUART! MY FUCKING GOD....... A GOD DAMN FORCE.....
What A Tune
What a talented man! What a waste! RIP Stuart 😔🥲
Stuart Loved That Shirt. And So Do i.
its called Chance not where did the feeling go
Thanks for sharing these videos! Do you know if there's a video of Big Country with Kate Bush performing with them for the song "The Seer"?
Hi! You're welcome!
No, there isn't any. Unfortunately Kate never performed the song live with the band. That would have been special though, no doubt.
@@BC1000Stars Thanks for your quick reply! You've saved me hours of searching online! Looking forward to checking out your other videos. Have you watched any of his daugher, Kirsten Adamson's videos? She's doing a lovely job with acoustic versions of Big Country and other songs along with her own original songs. Here's the link to her channel if you are interested.
