    You handled that really well Cry. You didnt just blow off everyone who had a problem with the lack of warnings but also didnt completely give in for the sake of pleasing people like other youtubers. You did your own thing but it had a level of respect.

    Some people seriously requested a warning?
    Wow...
    Silent Hill has been around for 1999, one would think that 16 years are enough time to have the message get around that it is a franchise build around psychological trauma and serious shit like rape, murder and abuse. But nope, seems, like some people still think, it is about some nice quiet hill covert with flowers and fairy glitter.

      People nowadays are just so entitled anyway,things have to be tailor made to their specification.They get offended over someone not doing something for them in this instance placing a "trigger warning".When it is really their own job to be extra careful and go research about what they come into contact with,when they themselves know full well they have issues we certain subject matters.

    I think it's very considerate of Cry to put up warnings.
    On that note this is a horror game designed to be more than jumpscares. Silent Hill is well known for being a game with things that yes, can trigger you. I don't see the point of a warning in a game like this.
    like Cry said, do your research and look at the imbd. You can't expect everyone to apologize and always warn you when you too can research. If you know you're sensitive to certain things then don't go blindly into shit. I'm not agaisnt trigger warnings because I understand what it's like, but the use of triggers is getting out of hand at this point

    • @Starlightean
      @Starlightean 10 лет назад +42

      Exactly my thoughts, well said thank you. Silent Hill is nothing but dealing with mental problems, suicide, abuse etc. and it would be time consuming to point out each trigger on their own since nearly every scene in the entire franchise is influential. But I guess some people just want to watch the videos no matter what or they don't know about the game but the responsibility of an *intense psychological horror* is not up to Cry.

    • @Skadfun
      @Skadfun 10 лет назад +23

      I have PTSD and the truth is you never know what your triggers can be until it happens. That being said I usually research the fuck out of the enterment I find and make sure I have an idea what I'm getting into.

      @Skadfun 10 лет назад +22

    Wow, wasnt expecting a warning from you. I just kinda assumed peeps would realize this game would have ALL of the things that could trigger peeps, and therefore would watch the video realizing this.

    • @ZGUnlimited
      @ZGUnlimited 10 лет назад +10

      That's what i'm saying. I understand people getting triggered and such, but they should have the decency to look up the description or the game up beforehand. It's Silent Hill, a game the dwells into the unnatural and anything that makes people uncomfortable. At this point some people shouldn't be on the internet if they easily get this offended.

    • @thejaguar9
      @thejaguar9 10 лет назад +9

      ZGUnlimited THIS ^^^^^^
      I completely agree. At this point, people are only getting mad, for the sake of being angry. This game is world-renown for it's psychological warfare and it's beyond horror elements. I am honestly speechless at this situation.

    • @ZGUnlimited
      @ZGUnlimited 10 лет назад +9

      Like someone else said, if they go through life needing to be warned by any little bit of fear or gore, then they're gonna have a tough time. I'm not saying people are going to pick on them, i'm just saying they'll have trouble dealing with situations on the internet and connecting without people in the world.

  • @oren1305
    @oren1305 10 лет назад +225

    Good let's play as always Cry. :3
    And it was considerate for you to put up the trigger warnings, and for all of you out there, who's trauma is so crippling, the suggestion or depiction, (in any media), of rape or sexual assault will send you into a panic attack: I recommend instead of lashing out in the comment section, *you seek help*. Many people have suffered, and *my heart goes out to all of you*, but Cry doesn't deserve your anger. I empathize it can be difficult to overcome such events, but you cannot let the event control you for your entire life, or ruin it. You're a survivor, and a very strong person. *You all deserve to be happy, and I wish you the best. Have a good day.*

      Yeah. I never really've been through any traumatic situation (accept bullying if you can count it) so you can say im stupid however i think People with such traumatic expiriances should try to fight things like that, accept that these things happened and will happen (unfortunatelly). If you get mad or sad everytime someone talks about it or shows such content you'll never make peace with your life. i know it probably takes time though and fight is tough. I also realise it's like Angela said "It's easier just to run.". Of course if someone laughs at these kind of things or victums of such happenings (which is not the case here). I think then we shouldn't be silent. Sorry for long comment with my terrible english. Have a nice day :)

      Maybe people who like Cry and want to help support him, even at the duress of their own comfort. The trigger warning helps those who can manage their anxiety prepare, and tells those who cannot that this video/game probably wouldn't be suitable for them.

    • @Gagoushou
      @Gagoushou 10 лет назад +13

      Honestly, at this point I think it's more an expectation than anything else, because that's the world/culture/society we live in now. People are so used to tags and warnings that I wonder how many go by those alone and don't bother checking any further. I think its a little silly myself, but then I grew up before any of that was a thing, so. Yeah.

    • @TheSvnoyi
      @TheSvnoyi 10 лет назад +5

      Gagoushou Yeah, because warning labels were never a thing until like 10 years ago....
      People have been taking precautions for physical injury for decades. Now people are focusing on precautions from mental injury....Especially for those who already deal with a mental disorder like anxiety, depression, or PTSD.

    • @Gagoushou
      @Gagoushou 10 лет назад +9

      TheSvnoyi Because the warning labels from ten years ago are EXACTLY the same thing, and would TOTALLY be accepted as is by the standards people have now.

    • @TheSvnoyi
      @TheSvnoyi 10 лет назад +2

      Gagoushou Same with a trigger warning. It's literally a warning of what is in the video. Unless the video changes, the warning will not.

It has been my joy the last few days and I think you handled the situation really well. I'm glad that Cry put up a warning with no fuss about it, but I'm sad and a bit bewildered that he had to in the first place. Even if you haven't been exposed to Silent Hill before, one should at least know that it's been praised as the king of psychological horror games, and that it has imagery and scenes that could potentially be triggering to those with mental illnesses or past events. It's always worth to check before watching something -- don't blame Cry for it; NOBODY is to blame for it. But taking precautions before watching something new just in case never hurts.

      lol maybe that's why Final Fantasy stayed away from it so long. In fact, the most popular long running game series don't have voice actors (Used to be FF, but Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Mario, etc.)

    • @gabrielreyes4425

      They voice acting fits Silent Hill 2 perfectly, it sounds very off putting and dreamlike, it's perfect with the atmosphere.

    • @darkghor6372
      @darkghor6372 10 лет назад +11

      This was made back when voice acting in games was still up and coming. No actual, legitimate voice actors considered the roles worth having, and most game developers used employees to voice the roles to save on money.
      Regular people are generally crap when placed behind a microphone because they get the idea that it's "not real" and it affects their acting ability by making them sound stale and monotone. Kinda like how the average person acts different if they know they're on camera. They attempt to "act natural" but it always turns out wrong.

      The creators of this game purposely wanted this kind of odd voice acting. The voice actor that played James said so himself and so did many other people who were affiliated with Silent Hill. They wanted us to feel like we were in a really weird dream while playing this game and the 'weird' voice acting helped with that a lot.

    I must admit that this whole commentary section, and previous one as well, is funny, especially comments like "omg ppl didnt yo now that? Its Silent Hill, duh, what did u expect". No. Not everyone knows Silent Hill, and it is not a crime. You also say things like "lol this game is full of blood and death and other things, and u are whining about one scene". Well, I can easily watch scenes and gameplays containing death, blood, canibalism, and many other horrible things, but I want to shoot the monitor when it comes to animal abuse. Think of it that way - for some people blood and things like that are acceptable to watch, and sexual abuse is not, I think it's quite simple. And what is so wrong about that warning ? Is it burning your ears ? Making them bleed or something ? Personally, I don't care about that kind of warnings, when I don't like something I just stop watching, but hey, those are just words, if you don't want to listen, skip them :) And yes, I know Silent Hill, played Silent Hill, and love Silent Hill. The problem people are having isn't that there is a trigger warning. They're angry because Cry was bullied into putting it into his video by a bunch of butthurt SJWs.

      AnimeFreakAsahi16, First thing, please, use some commas from time to time, because it's hard to read text like this.
      Second thing, no, Silent Hill is not that popular to be known by everyone. Arcanum is 2001, and I only know few people, who have heard of this game. Same with Fallout.
      Third thing... It looks I am dumb, because I do exactly as you've said when I see Cry playing game that I don't know^^ As I've said earlier, it is nothing bad to record a 10 secounds warning, and it won't kill you if you'll accidentally listen to it. I don't understand why people are whining about it, what's the problem. Ofcourse I also don't understand people who were yelling "omg omg cry u didint warn me bout it u cruel faggot unsub!!!1oneone!", but... seriously, this reminds me of some pc master race war, or other shit like that :) Just calm down. He didn't record a warning ? Ok, at most I will stop watching the series. He did record a warning ? It's ok too.

Also, I love the song that plays during the scene with Angela. It is one of my favorite songs from any game and fits the mood of Silent Hill perfectly.

    As someone with actual triggers, I'm a little offended by people here who have ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERIENCE with trauma or having a trigger wage war against my favourite youtuber on my behalf when I'm aware that it's my responsibility to monitor the content that I allow myself to view. Rape is not my trigger, but I make damn sure that anything I watch does not contain my trigger, just like people with a peanut allergy makes damn sure that nothing they are about to eat could even POSSIBLY contain peanuts.
    Most people complaining certainly haven't mentioned personally having a trigger, but if you do have a trigger and are arguing that Cry should cater to your own psychological problems, then fuck you. You are THE ONLY PERSON who has a responsibility to look after yourself, NOBODY ELSE can do it for you, and it is UNFAIR to expect anyone to.

    Normally I'm all for trigger warnings at the beginning of a video for a game or whatever, but that's only if the content doesn't give off a creepy ass/depressing vibe from the get go. (Aka, shits all sunshine and rainbow looking.)
    But come oooon, this is *_Silent Hill!_* This is a game from the genre known as *_horror_*. If you have never heard of this series (or don't know what horror means) then from what dimension do you hail?
    (I would not be surprised if those who have never heard of this series are those who find cheap ass overdone jump scare games to be the scariest things ever...)
    No doubt there will be more BS comments in the next upload. Needless to say, those people only have themselves to blame. Enact some form of bloody common sense next time.
    P.S: Bah, your mic isn't as bad as you made it out to be :P

    just a little words of advice for some people here...if you are easily offended or have been through traumatic things...i highly suggest you either research what you are about to watch or don't watch anything in the HORROR genre. you should know what you are getting yourself into when you watch anything in this category, anything goes in the horror genre. it's sad that cry has to warn people on something they could so easily research before watching, especially knowing it's a horror game. it's not cry's fault, it is your fault. that is all, move along.

    The warning is good for one thing, everyone who didn't know what the hell is Silent Hill (yes people like that exist, due newer generation games keeping all those people occupied)
    But for those same people who tried to riot in the last video because what? You didn't read the description? The one with a nice warning label in the last 3 videos of this playthrough. If you stumbled upon this video, thinking Cry is doing something interesting, but you looked in comments first, I advise you to look at the description before watching continuing the playthrough. Luckily for you, Cry stated a warning in the beginning of this video.

      I don't think they're entirely bad, as the limiting control can help bring a feel of powerlessness and the camera angles can make you feel claustrophobic... Or just pure frustration, either way works.

    • @anonymousotter6455
      @anonymousotter6455 5 лет назад +1

      You probably don't want to hear this 4-5 years later, but personally the camera angles serve to purposefully limit the gamer and have them uncomfortable. Well, that's what I think. And I think the camera angles, in that regard, are great! Artistic too.

      basically what you are saying: "people who have experienced trauma and are recovering from it shoudlnt be allowed to live normal lives so as to not slightly inconvenience the rest of us." yes of course why didnt i think of just staying at home and doing nothing !! actually most trauma victims DO already stay at home most of the time because of their trauma being yknow, traumatic and affecting their lives in every way dipshit. how is a warning affecting you anyways? all of you need to shut up and stop with this "THE SJWS RUINING MY LIFE ONCE AGAIN!!!1!!!THIS 10 SECOND WARNING RUINED MY ENTIRE DAY !!!!!!1!GROW UP YOU BABIES!!WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!1!" lmao.... chill . we do live in the real world and there ARE trigger warnings in everyday life (age ratings, mature content filters, health and safety warnings, and literal general taboos of even mentioning rape or potentially triggering material in public) plus, just because its a horror game doesnt mean that everyone necessarily has to know it has psychologically upsetting things. Ive heard of Silent Hill my whole life but honestly all i knew about was that there are fucked up monsters. the warning isnt hurting anyone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      I would prefer if he didn't go for any ending specifically as none of the endings are necessarily "good", just different ways of James finding peace. All of them have their merits, so to actively go for a specific one defeats the purpose of how they are naturally implemented. If Cry gets Leave, In The Water, or Maria ending it should be because of his own actions and choices, not because he gamed the system.

    • @tenseiga04
      @tenseiga04 10 лет назад

      Well I said it's good because of how actually ends, but I didn't actually want him to know what actually happens. We know that Cry gets involve in the story and I was thinking it would be nice for him to have that kind of ending. Instead of the canon or the bad ending...

    My first silent hill was SH3, I bought it during the golden days of the ps2 era because the gorgeous box art caught my attention. Upon playing it, I was disturbed by its mature themes and fascinated by its dark beauty. The game series always appeared to be an ongoing saga and analyzation of the human psyche at the darkest heights of emotion or lack there of. Anyone who doesn't know Silent Hill or just scratching the surface please do your research. I have played them all, save for one, and the content is intended to be gut-wrenching, shocking, and seemingly forces you to question your moral compass. You know that little thing called choice? ..yeah..

  • @GRAYZ3R0
    @GRAYZ3R0 10 лет назад +10

    Sucks that Cry had to put that warning up. People affected by those types of things shouldn't be watching anything physiological horror especially if its FUCKING SILENT HILL. Silent Hill is 15 yeas old and Silent Hill 2 is 13 years old there have been ten games so far (PT doesn't count) eleventh is on the way they have movies this franchise has been out there for fifteen years, If you haven't heart of the already somber title of the game then you should know to look it up. Even Crys thumbnails showed that's its going to be a dark game. So anybody who clicked through and started watching a lets play of a dark game that's been around for thirteen years and then gets all upset at the lack of a trigger warning that's their fault not crys.

      As someone who is affected by those things, you're half right. Am I throwing a fit? No.but that's because I've dealt with my issues. Domi think Cry should have had to put up a warning? No. Because honestly the first time I saw SH2 I missed the things that could "trigger" me. Second time,I recognized them but shrugged it off. Why?
      Because its a GAME. The problem nowadays is that everyone seems to think the world should cater to them. But it doesn't, and the sooner people realize that the happier they will be.

    while i'm glad you put the trigger warning in (showing that, of course you care about your viewers and what affects them), i'm so confused about why it was needed in the first place. i get in games like claire, where cutting and suicide came basically out of nowhere and was traumatic accompanying the general themes of depression and isolation, or beyond two souls, where she is almost raped and the damage carries over to a later scene and finally one of the characters commits suicide. there are other jrpgs that cry hasn't played like wadanohara and mogeko's castle that is filled with rape. when it is emotionally heavy and unexpected, it is so triggering. but in the case of silent hill... it's silent hill. it's common knowledge that basically every japanese horror game will have HEAVY psychological horror aspects. that's the point. there's going to be disturbing psychological aspects because that's a key of japanese horror. going into any horror game, people who are triggered by things should do their research. when cry got about halfway through claire, i looked it up to see what the ending was going to amount to because i know how easily triggered i am by suicides and self harm, and i appreciated cry's trigger warning during the specific part he encountered it. but like, i really don't get how abusive people were towards him in the comment section for silent hill when EVERY ONE knows the type of game this is and the types of things you can expect to see. it's not unexpected for these types of things to be in silent hill.
    like, if you are triggered easily, just as i am, you should be doing research. it's understandable if the game gives off NO VIBE or NO WARNING that dark elements can happen. i watched a let's player go through a game and it was all light and happy and cute and suddenly, there was a rape scene and it took me off guard and i could imagine any one triggered by that would have been in a state. because it came out of nowhere, the game gave off no indication and the let's player said absolutely nothing even in the editing to warn viewers. but with silent hill, you literally know what you're getting into.
    so, thank you for the warning cry. thank you for caring about the feelings of your fans enough to add one in. but i hope you didn't feel too pressured by any abusive comments. i can't wait for the rest of the series. ^^

    To get the best ending, DO NOT look at the knife
    Also to beat this first Pyramid Head encounter, just have to keep running away from him until the siren is herd.

    I'm glad to see he picked up on the whispering inside Lyne house. I didn't hear that until my 8th playthrough.

    W-what even needed a "trigger" warning? I understand the self-harm bit in this part... but what was there to warn about all the other parts? Are everyone just that sensitive these days?

      having traumatic parts of your life reminded to you usually isnt very fun is it?

      tailo25 if simply seeing some vague imagery on RUclips is enough to actually trigger a real response from you, you should generally get the fuck of the Internet.

      tailo25 No, it's not fun, trust me, I know. However, the world can not and will not be catered to these people. The world is FULL of triggers. A commercial could trigger people, a movie, a song, a TV show or whatever! Are we suppose to stop living just because somethings can trigger people? I mean let's think about this in a reality stand point. If people are that sensitive, than they should stay home and watch the kids channel.

      ChaoticEva Let's just stop catering to everyone then. Why do we need all these ramps everywhere for people who can't walk? Fuck 'em, they can just crawl up. We shouldn't have to cater to them just because they can't use their legs. Do you understand how ridiculous that is? It's not a huge inconvenience to help others. Sure, it would be a huge pain to put trigger warnings for absolutely everything in everything, but it's not hard to give warning in most things about the most common triggers. Warnings about suicide, rape, and abuse should be as common as having an option for subtitles.

      It's less about sensitivity and more about the awareness of the problem that's always been there. Anyhow I don't see why people are getting so up in arms about it, it's a 10 second voice-over, stop victim blaming and move on.

    I really enjoy your videos, I also wish to thank you for the warning at the beginning of this video. While I do not have any issue with stories involving the aforementioned tragedies, I appreciate the amount of thought put into your videos.

    I do understand that there are quite a lot of individuals that have PTSD and are struggling to cope with things. But forcing someone to place trigger warnings...on a Horror game? Specifically one listed as psychological horror seems rather odd if not rude to the content creator.

    While I believe that it's nice to have a warning if it may cause some people to relive some moments, the fact that this game is one of the most well known messed up games in horror should have been a given to some people. The Silent Hill series is just known for it to mess with your brain and freak you out. Now with people just complaining and pretty much forcing you to put a warning in the video is just ridiculous. If you have suspicion about the contents of something, then look more into it. It's like if you are going to watch an R rated movie but are unsure of why the movie is R. You look up why and then decide. Same case for this. It's M rated, therefore there may be some instances where it could have sexual themes, scenes, or anything that will make some people uncomfortable. Everyone just needs to stop complaining and look into something before even saying a word.

    Lovely new addition to the series. I'm really enjoying this and dang man. Pyramid head is a pain in the rear. Nicely played and that coin puzzle would have been a real pain. Thank you for taking the time to give a general warning even if I don't understand what got people so worked up. Generally speaking most horror has darker content in it. Anyway, thanks again for another great vid. As always I look forward to the next and wish you the best of luck. Take care hun. :)
