"Tell people you belong and they'll believe it" was a line that really stuck out to me. I love the way you proposed these questions! It really is like that in the corporate world. If you're not "selling" yourself to show people you're worth investing in, you're definitely selling away parts of yourself in the sentiment of code switching to navigate the language that corporate offices expect. I slipped in one too many "I'm down for that" and "that's dope" to my 45+ white coworkers to know that they don't understand our "lingo", they won't try to, and they definitely don't like that they can't. It's a dynamic that is certainly shifting after all the societal conversations we've been having.
working in corporate is a game all day everyday! the CBO are mostly women who always sizing up other women from looks, clothes, what you drive, relationship & work status. the saying is "it's who you know, not what you know" is real. when I watched the The Other Black Girl I noticed the mirrors as well and asked why was it always dark in the women bathroom? The BF was on point about Hazel. With Nell needing validation from her counterpart upset me b/c I was her at one point in my life. Always making sure tasks where done to make the manager look good while all the time you're not getting promoted or getting bonuses when you be the first at work and last to leave. Hitting production every quarter. Going home tired and stressed b/c someone said this and that. As a black woman in the corporate world (game) my advice is do your job to your best ability & speak up for yourself. You DO NOT need anyone to validate you. WAKE UP! Game recognize game. Know the players (employer, coworkers) and know the rules (policy handbook) but of course use your common sense.
Thanks for the review I’m gonna check it out. I’ve regularly been the only black woman in the room so this will hit home. I use to not play the game and I’ve wised up 😂 keep the cards close
@thebrimtruthreviews I found your channel after They Cloned Tyrone movie & this show reminded me of TCT. I actually started watching this show because of one of your videos. Really crazy show. Appreciate the heads up on it. I don't want to leave spoilers, but this show was definitely not what I expected. Appreciate you, my boy.
They're not married, but since we're on the topic, how strange is it that he has the same bowl (his nanna's bowl) as Hazel used to have when she took care of her mom. Seems sus

This was so good. I hope they have season 2. Thank you for the upload I wish u so much success. 😊
Really good show
I liked the twist at the end. Great review too! I hope the show gets renewed.
So why did hazels scalp bleed ?? From the grease?
The scary parts made NO sense and i heard the ending is different from the book
i took the scary parts as her doing things to compromise herself. I might have to read the book to see what kind of feel i get
@@thebrimtruthreviewsI just finshed the book today. The show was better. The ending of the book will piss you off.
@@demetriusholloway9599the show is WAYYYYY BETTER!
Just like "Burning heart" 😎
