What a discovery! Two different pieces. This version shows Sibelius as a lonesome monolith, creating deep from his soul, completely without any predecessor or idol.. Chapeau! - Phantastic sound of cl and db..
There are some ragged spots in both the performance and the translation, but that said the genius of the piece shines through and this performance is quite refreshing. I've heard is several times now and really enjoyed it!
Indeed. All my life I thought this was a tone poem inspired by Finnish myth, but the master said that he thought of the Norse sagas when he wrote it. Very interesting texture with this arrangement!
Fascinating aurally. But it does confirm that Sibelius was not suited to chamber formats and why he ultimately composed little of it beyond his one string quartet

My goodness this has reawakened my childhood enthusiasm for this work.
Beautiful! Septet or orchestral, this piece deserves to be performed more
