      Yes. He definitely likes to kill. He could have just doubled the universe’s resources. It wouldn’t fix overpopulation but mathematically it’s the same result as halfing the population.

    • @havok6280
      @havok6280 4 месяца назад

      That's not true. He's taking that into account. He just believes survival is more important than feelings.
      Thanos is not a psychopath. He loves Gamora in his own twisted way.
      He believes the good of the many outweighs the good of the few. Resources are limited so reducing overpopulation benefits the remaining half of the population. That isn't a radical belief. His methods are the problem.

    Marvel spent 10 years building up to the showdown with Thanos and it didn't disappoint. Unlike so many other epic villains who fall short, the Avengers were unprepared for the mad Titan. This was Thanos ' movie and it never gets old for me. This is how you set up a final boss and it makes the comeback that much more satisfying.

      I know I'm in the minority, but I actually preferred his motivation in the comics. Genocidal environmentalism is just meh for me. In the comics, Thanos falls in love with Death (like the anthropomorphic concept of it) and seeks to wipe out half the galaxy to impress her.

    I remember In leaving the theater, so many families were shocked. Kids crying their heroes were gone and parents fighting back tears.
    It’s brilliant filmmaking. We the audience are conditioned to believe the good guys win in the end and it all works out. Not with this film. The audience were pushed out of our comfort zone and had our minds blown with the ending.
    The last time I experienced that was watching The Empire Strikes Back as a kid. This young generation just had their equivalent experience.
    Keeping watching the remaining MCU films in release order. It’ll all build up in Endgame.

    Thanos' motivation in the comics was a love of death. He did this to impress the embodiment of death. While crazy, it made more sense than this. Populations tend to increase when resources are available, and in a few generations numbers would grow back to where they are.

    If he kills off half of the living creatures that pollinate food sources, and kills off half of the animal food sources, Thanos's logic doesn't really hold up.

    as far as thanos being so upset and saddened about gamorra's death. you seem to think it is hypocritical on his part to some extent but i think that was the exact thing that shows he isn't a hypocrite. so many times they would drop it rather than sacrifice something they care about. if he had done that, that would have been hypocritical. a regular "rules for thee, not for me" but he was saying that the sacrifices were worth it and he was willing to prove he believed it. that's the moment you see he is a zealot and truly believes the crap he's saying.and isn't just in it to benefit himself

    • @cthulhuwu_
      @cthulhuwu_ 4 месяца назад

      He's certainly not a hypocrite from his point of view, but it's all a matter of perspective. Thanos claims his plan is fair and just because it's completely random and not biased toward any particular race or species, but there's one individual who is exempt from that "fair" judgment: himself. He has to live in order to carry out his plan and thus it was never a truly random culling, but a planned scheme from a single man who was obviously misguided.

    I think an interesting tidbit about Thanos "saving" Gamora's planet is the fact that in the first Guardians film, they got arrested by the Nova Corps, if you remember, and one of the information displayed during their line-up is her being the last of her kind.
    Of course, that ticker could be wrong (I mean, it incorrectly called Peter Quill Space-Lord instead of Star-Lord), but still, I think Thanos is just delusional about his plan working.
