Something is up with Carly Gregg and her insanity defense. The other psychiatrist has testified that Carly was disassociative before she offed her mom and was hearing Voices... If this is true why was she hiding the gun behind her back ??
Did the voices also tell her to call her friend to see the body ? O r to plan a way to get her father to come home? This girl has a personality disorder and knows exactly what she is doing.
If she was dissociating and having aural hallucinations (hearing voices), she would not have had the presence of mind to hide the gun behind her back (to both try to hide it from the home's security system's videocameras and from her mother), nor would she have texted her father trying to lure him to the house so she could also shoot and murder him or run from the crime scene. Her behaviour shows her cognitive facilities were not affected by symptoms typical of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder and strongly suggests she knew full well that what she did was wrong but did not care. As such it's absurd for the psychiatrist the defence called to testify to try to claim diminished responsibility by virtue of mental disease or defect. Her behaviour does not support her being legally insane only that she premeditatedly planned to murder both parents and knew this was wrong. To put it in colloquial terms she's "bad, not mad".
There is a nationwide shortage of mental health care providers. Advanced care providers (NP’s and PA’s) are frequently utilized to fill in these needs for providers to provide medication management. I still think that a psychiatrist should provide oversight and guidance on these cases, supervision requirements vary from state to state. A therapist and counselor should also be apart of any treatment plan.

That’s unconstitutional now. Kids that age now have a chance at parole. A bunch of LWOP sentences have been overturned to 25+ years before chance of parole. Personality Disorder is a mental illness. The difference is they’re highly functional as opposed to your classic mentally-ill whose psychosis is stronger. I think Carly has psychopathy. There’s a girl named Beth Thomas who was rehabilitated after sexually and physically assaulting her biological brother as young as 8. This girl threatened to unalive her adoptive parents and biological brother. Carly needs to be institutionalized, not imprisoned.

Side effects from anti depressants include suicidal thoughts and self harm🤦♀️ Why are we medicating young kids? Why don’t more people ask questions???
The whole society is messed up. They introduced all these antidepressants in the 1990s, that’s also when grunge was really taking off, and all just after the high materialism of the 1980s. All of this materialism, money worship, casual ‘hookups,’ etc, leaves people broken, and the only answer is to door everybody up. As a person who works with 10-18 year old kids some are so angry, violent, mean, suicidal , ADHD; that they can't function at school or home. No amount of therapy works for most of them. It is scary. Medications may or may not normalize them.
Look at other people on trial and see how different they look in court from their normal style. Those lawyers Do prep them on looks .That greasy hair is part of their devious plan, just like the little girl school dresses .
Why is there not a psychiatrist testifying? Did she ever receive treatment from a qualified psychiatrist? Was there a system of a psychiatrists supervising nurse practitioners, team meetings to review cases, other professional supervision? This seems highly inappropriate for a child who was self harming - cutting oneself is an attempt to FEEL something when you don’t/can’t, not simple depression
It probably costs an awful lot more to see a psychiatrist. She probably was assessed by one after being arrested but it is necessary to talk to the person who assessed her prior to the crime. That level of self-harming is quite common among teenage girls with relatively minor MH problems. It really isn't at the level that needs a psychiatrist.

This girl actually hummed a tune while waiting for her opportunity to murder her step father. I’m sorry, guys. If she’s not locked away now, she will murder again the next time someone makes her mad.
She met this girl once and immediately prescribed medications? OMG 😮. I was an adult and saw a psychologist/psychiatrist and I was not out on medications right away. I was asked to consider workgroups and therapy sessions first. Pill pushers smh
she had equine therapy etc prior to starting a small dose of SSRI. Other non pharmaceutical treatments had failed. It certainly was appropriate to prescribe medication.
This defendent is in a generation of very violent kids. She murdered her mother in a violent way. She was cold. I did not believe step-father about her being upset. The video showed the real Carly. There was problems in that family.
I agree with you, this generation does seem more violent than earlier ones. To be fair, their environment is also very toxic: the entertainment industry, from TV, to music, to sports like UFC and now that face slapping; they are more sugared up than ever before (just look at the kids cereal, made with Kit Kat and all this; and they are pumped up with all these psychoactive drugs; and they are watching all of these videos made in military conflicts from around the world (all of these war hungry people in DC are destroying people over there, but there is an impact on people over here). The current culture in the US is producing psychopaths. This kid is years old and they said today she will live out the rest of her existence in prison. That’s crazy to me, this is someone who came from a middle class family in a land that people are desperate to get to, and despite all of the opportunity she has, she will rot out the rest of her existence in prison. You’re absolutely incorrect. Carly Gregg received a great deal of help, in fact more than many Americans receive. Before any antidepressants were prescribed, she was seeing a therapist for cognitive/talk therapy, Patricia Kirk, who also testified in this trial. She was only prescribed anti depressants when she claimed her depression was worsening. The claim that her parents or teachers or society “failed her” doesn’t fly. She had access to emotional/psychological/medical & financial resources, a safe home and a loving mother, all of which millions of Americans struggling with health issues don’t have the luxury of ever receiving.
Yes, you're right. The title isn't correct. I'd prefer to see a psychiatrist evaluation in reference to any disorders, though.
And if that was going on, she should have been hospitalized
Yeah why was she hiding the gun...that doesn't sound like someone crazy sounds like someone who got caught

@@ahmeda.3198 this generation is not more violent. as I stated, and as is easily found in the research, violent crime among us continues to decline.
There have always been psychopaths. What American culture _does_ do is encourage a self-centred selfish approach to life. American society is very individualistic, with little to no emphasis on responsibility to family or community.
What about I don't like Mondays girl in the 70s?
Oh wow so the defense lied in opening
Color me shocked!!!!!!
Basically her vaping made her depressed and anxious. That’s the only thing wrong with her. She is not mentally ill. She is smart and knows what she did to her mother.
Vaping doesn't cause depression or anxiety
I'm vaping on an orange flavor vape now and it's not making me depressed or anxious. I'm going to go outside and smoke a real cigarette in a few minutes. LOL
@@608pinkgirl where did you get your doctor of psychiatric medicine degree?
Her being smart and knowing what she did to her mother is not mutually exclusive with being mentally ill. She definitely suffers with mental health disorders, just not to the level where she would be not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. Her issues did not prevent her from knowing right from wrong.
Vaping? 🤦🏻♀️🤣
I love Dr. Jason Pickett, he is honest, true full, even though it hurts him to have to say it. Very credible doctor!!
Psychiatrists are very wrong title used to be opening that would require an MD and extra accreditation. Just being specific.
She is a nurse practitioner, not a psychiatrist.
She is NOT a psychiatrist. She is a nurse practitioner.
No, not just an NP- she specialized-Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
@@MyBeautifulHealthYes, but her point was the title said psychiatrist, which I noted too.
Thank you!
The kid cried out for help on numerous occasions, but instead we’re going to make a lab/med testing out of her by feeding her bunch of medication. Typical system.
I work with kids and teens but many today are just so crazy, evil, hearing things, violent anger fir no apparent reason. I did not used ti be fir medicating them but so many are just not normal even with therapy. No easy answers.
@@kimberlycox158 As a society, especially in the US, we've observed a tremendous increase is all sorts of mental health issues. Sad.
Oh so she did it just because, lock her up.
This woman Is Not a psychiatrist. She is a mental health nurse practitioner. Psychiatrist is a Medical Doctor!
Psychiatrists don't do counseling. They push pills. Do you actually trust MDs after the last five years? 😂
Yes, you're right. The title isn't correct. I'd prefer to see a psychiatrist evaluation in reference to any disorders, though. This person looked completely surprised to find out that Carly had lied about being valedictorian of her school. I think that information would be very useful to a psychiatrist. For example was this a delusion that she had convinced herself of or was she deliberately lying to mislead?
@@Silas-lc9opPsychologists don’t prescribe medication. So that individual is correct. A psychiatrist would do that, or in this case a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
