It's gonna be great man. I never used Tiktok, but I've been away from IG and even Facebook for nearly 7 years now and it's been real nice. (I only use messenger for communication with family and a handful of really close friends)
Hey man, I couldn’t agree more about what you said in this video and I also believe it’s a tough issue to deal with because, the majority of out time is spent on the phone. I’m been unplugged almost for a 3 weeks now and it’s been great, relearning how to play chess again, exercising more to train in Muay Thai and kickboxing, reading more of the books I been putting off, get back into writing poetry, and spending more time with friends and family. The main issue I believe is because people are afraid of missing out, and sometimes it adds to the loneliness. But also helps revitalize on things you love to do. So I’m right there with you my man, and hopefully I will be able to watch stream soon 👍🏽
I love you Kenny. I've been very lonely for a long time and having people like you making videos that talk about the type of issue I'm going through in my life really helps out.
Hope you find some people or family what you can connect with. It's hard being lonely so I know it's like quick sand, the more you are in it the harder it seems to get out, but unlike quicksand you can control the decent.
It's a never ending cycle. We never look at what we have achieved and be content. Rather, we look at others who are ahead of us and be miserable chasing shadows. Just a small example I cleared my mortgage but now I was thinking yeah I want a bigger home. Slapped myself out of it and now I spent that extra income on my children and wife and haven't been happier. We do activities outside rather then be on gadgets at home.
Great vid Kenny! Be careful not to isolate yourself. That’s my one take away from leaving social media. You are no longer in the loop and people expect you to know about their lives because they share everything on Facebook. It’s quite surprising how offended some can be.
Well spoken Kenny, honestly, can I ask for more real talk videos? This felt soothing and it felt, well, real. We're so stuck up into our phones that we do forget to even do daily activities or even procrastinate a lot. Thanks for the video, you're awesome Kenny!
Appreciate you Kenny. This talk came at the perfect time for me and I uninstalled a bunch of apps while I listened. We doing better going into the new year✊🏾
Nah you're speaking some real shit my guy, when I find myself doom scrolling I have to physically take myself away from my phone because I feel like i'm suffocating watching so much content that gets fed to me LOL, solid advice and very nice to hear you just talk. Much love and best of luck to everyone with defeating these demons. We got this y'all
Great timing. Been feeling the negatives of social media and decided to end it. Phone addiction, social media addiction, etc. are all real. March onward!
Great talk Kenny. Specially the comparison killing joy part. Couple month age I learned that I earn less than a colleague of mine and that kinda pissed me off cause we are doing the same work. It took me a while but I thought about it and realised, he might make more money than I do but what I got is an amazing wife, two wonderful kids and a house. Long story short, I stopped comparing and started focusing on the amazing things I have in my life.
Thanks for the video Kenny. I've come to the point where I feel physically sick out of nowhere (maybe as an excuse to restrict myself to the screens.) Time to open up a few books.
Man, kenny... You really hit it on the button with this discussion. The things you mentioned- especially the part about people making comparisons to the people they see on social media- it really starts to mess with you- definitely so when you're someone who feels lost in life and it's not just super young people that it's happening to either. The videos on everything you mentioned are making quite a lot of people out there depressed and it's causing them to be very hard on themselves. I agree 100% that mitigating usage of social media is something we all should consider doing- especially when you're someone who imagined themselves being in better places in life than where they are currently, because all it really seems to be doing is making a lot of people out there feel very worthless, sad and create a devoid of confidence and motivation.
Staying humble and true to yourself will forever guide you to the right path of the real enjoyment in this life. truly happy seeing this today. thank you for always being a real 1!
With you all the way, Kenny. Already follow you on Bluesky, too. Trying to get my wife to do the same thing but that is going to be a long and difficult process. But it is so worth it.
Hello. Well, Kenny, as much as I hate to admit it, everything you say in this video resonates with me a lot. I've become really frustrated with my life because of what I'm used to seeing on social media on my feed from the friends that I follow. I'd like to be able to disconnect from there for a while but I can't because of what I do for work (I'm a photographer). I'm really glad your taking steps towards healing emotionally and mentally. I'll take this as an incentive to do the same at some point. Thanks for being as brave as you are to put this out there.
it's nice to hear stuff like this from ppl like your self, and not only from ppl who do it for views. id say my mental health has gotten better after i got my cat. focusing on him instead of decaying over my phone. something that makes this hard is that most people around you are also far to deep into their phone. this video is verry much appreciated my dude ;)
Im hightly appreciative of this advice cause i suffer from high anxiety and depression and i actually at times am always wishing my friends and I hung out like you guys do and made content and had better lives but as you said comparison is the thief of joy it just makes sense that everyone has these thoughts and It's not just me worrying about life and wasting time on all these apps and the phone. thank you
I am going through quite a rough time for some time now and decided to detox as well. So far It helps a lot, focus on the things that makes you happy and in some way or another can be a nice asset or valuable skill. For me it has been playing the guitar diligently. Wish you much strength with everything.
this is great kenny, im happy for you. I cant say that im on the same boat cause luckly i feel that i value my friends and family enough to not let social media affect my daily interactions but i will admit that all the things you said are real and affect a lot of people, regardless of their age your mindset and will to do this yourself is great and spreads positivity, hope it helps a lot of people
Pre-smart phone era of life was so pure. Hard part is even if you yourself step away from it (which i have) it's still present when hanging out with others who are still absorbed into it.
I recently started mindlessly refreshing youtube for long periods of time looking for content. I haven't escaped the habit and I've wasted a scary amount of time doing NOTHING, but this video gave me some motivation to focus more on learning how to make games like I've wanted to do for years. We live in the era of Brainrot and it has to stop.
Dude, same. I'm not addicted to IG or TikTok but I can't function without SOMETHING being on RUclips. It's like I need a constant voice or whatever in the background and it's gotten annoying. I haven't been creative in a meaningful way in so long.
Preach bro. A lot of us are addicted to things that make us feel inadequate on some way. It’s not healthy. Appreciate the real talk. Would love more of this. Some questions for your next discussion: What are some ways we can try to balance the need for advancement/achievement but still be content with what we have? What’s some ways to show love to people even when you disagree with them (online or in person)? What are some good ways you have found to practice self-care and self-respect when you’re feeling drained? What do you say to the younger version of Kenny who would feel bad about not having it all together at XYZ point in life? How would you encourage him? Hope these are helpful to your content and the community! Peace Love and Blessings.
I totally agree with your stance on setting small goals; I'm incredibly close to achieving my goal of opening my own food business without any accumulated debt and I've never felt so happy and full or self worth
Kenny, you are cooking and I'm excited for it! Whatever the numbers, they do not matter compared to the positive impact you've had on those who have watched you (and your friends) for years. You make the world a better place, simple as!
Great message bro! I'm 5 years ahead of you though. I was only on Facebook and my life is so much better without it. The nonsense I hear about on social media comes from RUclips, the news, & my kids. I just be sitting back sipping tea, but I see a lot of weird comments on RUclips now. Grown men complaining about sexy video game characters like that's normal. I'm like "family dinners are probably awkward these days with these talking points". 🤣
This is a very good video and very relevant in regards to how negative and shitty everyone feels all the time, and the decline in patience that everyone seems to have now. People don't know how to wait for gratification, or to handle boredom. But there was one thing you said that really made me stop and think... I want that jerk marinade recipe
Accessibility is a huge part of it; gotta first put social media out of reach. Like you said, you gotta cut out what doesn’t work for your life. People always think in gains, but it's equally important to remember your losses or what's costing you energy/time/life.
I first did a media purge back in 2017 after smooth mcgroove did a similar style video and I've been super conscious of it ever since - it really does work and help mental health. You go Kenny, good luck with it. I've just deleted Facebook and Instagram again as I've been doomscrolling a lot recently. Thank you for giving me that push!
Been with ya since I found the YoVG, and I'll be here for ya no matter what. We can focus on spreading positive vibes with fun talks and hilarious videos!
After some time on relfecting what I've been seeing. I finally saw the ugliness of how SM can be, A few days later, I deleted Facebook, IG & TikTok. All of what you said hit the nail right on the head on why I wanted off the train & I'm glad I did. All the reasons you gave Kenny hit close to home. You are right, comparison if the theft of joy & I'm tired of comparing, the negativity and the fakeness. I'm glad I got off & I'm glad more are doing this, SM is a time suck & I'm glad to be focused on video gmaes and reading books again, feels like I've gained a part of me I lost long ago. Thank you Kenny, good luck to you mah dood, we're all in this together.
Bro is spot on!!! It's crazy I was just feeling this way.....social media is an addiction and it's full of negative shit, we all should detox and mediate and pray more....I'm speaking to myself also I'm far from perfect, the shits hard but necessary
Good sh!t. Comparison is the theft of joy is 100% true and most people do realize it themselves but can't help but still feel unfulfilled till they've reached what another person has achieved to some degree. I also agree on setting small goals because those will compound help you get what you're aiming for.
Really enjoyed this video and I have to agree with you the "comparison is the killer of joy" is so true sadly that has been on my mind for this year but I'm happy that I'm slowly getting free of it, really good video and please do more.
I think we are in the era that our parent was in when they got our age. I've cut out a lot of socials and it's helped a little. I think for me specifically.....the gaming world has changed so much that it's forcing me to resort to socials. The games aren't what they used to be and it feels like our world is changing around us and we don't fit in it anymore. Like playing video games was cool and exciting! I think now, some ppl who don't unplug start to get sucked into the dumb social media shyt. I think we gotta discover new things that we enjoy more! Great vid bruh, I've already unplugged when social media was making me more emotional and angry. Looking forward to ya vids, keep pushing forward man and be yourself fosho!
This is something that I’ve been trying to work on for the last year or so. I’ve set screen time limits, deleted apps, and set different rules for what I do throughout the day. It’s been very difficult and I’ve made progress and regressed back and forth, but I know it’s worth it. I wish the best of luck to anyone else that is working on this as well.
I did this last year and throughout the last 10 months. it has helped me so much mentally, my recommendation for people that just straight up can't uninstall something. What I did for those apps is I went through my follow/friend lists and I scrubbed out so much junk. Either people I used to know posting things that either annoy me or get me riled up or pages that post junk. Either sh*t posting or NSFW content and SOMETHING THAT HELPED MORE THAN ANYTHING, is I got rid of almost all creators that mainly speak on things negatively. Focus on art and creativity and positivity. Not these Critic or "critique" or political channels that only hate on things. Protect your peace.
Kenny you are right man, sadly I cannot get rid of social media as I need it for my career. However, after watching this, I'll join you and only check my apps whenever work/jobs pop up. love the content man!
It is better to be self connected than online connected for sure. I support your continued journey of fun with balance and know many happy events are still to come in your future both on and offline.
I was just talking about that with a friend recently and we both agreed with what you saying. I’ve been focusing more in spending quality time with my family and my self. Don’t even spent as much time in media other than watching gaming stuff or gaming. Social media nowadays is mainly lust content
Very nice talk, Kenny! It's true, social media makes people compare an edited and idealized version of other people's life to the worst version of themselves they have in their minds. This will never be a fair comparison. That will only destroy any sense of joy you can have in your life. I deleted my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram years ago and I don't regret it.
I'll be honest: I was listening to the video, and halfway through, I found myself scrolling through Reddit. Stopped myself pretty quickly, but damn, you don't even realize when you're defaulting to your phone. It was nice hearing this perspective since it gets pretty clouded being in an age group that pretty much accepts a gadget-centered life. I'm unfortunately so deep into internet discourse / mindsets that yeah, I really want to start really putting myself out in the world and just enjoying it for the heck of it. But I will say, it's so challenging trying to pursue any creative field, since social media is now a necessity for exposure / freelance work / credibility that it's hard separate the numbers from your self-worth. I know the video's a ramble, but it reminded me about a lot of things I want to change for myself.
You definitely hit some good points in this video Kenny. What kinda sucks for me is that I'm stuck in a situation and a place that I have to escape from, so indulging in my truer self as opposed to escapism via the apps and media is very difficult to do until I move. There is that light at the end of the tunnel for me to look forward to, but it's the only light I have, nothing inside the cave. I hope the people watching this who aren't stuck in a similar position can take steps to rectify that loneliness and internet addiction.
The part of spending more time outside than social media is something that I’ve changed this year. 2024 was the year in the beginning where I move to a new place and now the responsibilities I have made me realize how much important stuff I have to focus on and with the new friends I’ve made and hanging out with them, we barely share photos and enjoy the moment because once you reach your early 20s, being able to hangout becomes a challenge with the work or school schedules. It’s best to enjoy the moment
I think what you are doing is great. Our "robotic" routine is literally making us less happy and less unique. Looking at our phones 24/7 distracts us from looking thoughtfully to ourselves. Not only are always ignoring our problems, but also not giving our potential the value it deserves in order to improve more our lives
Thank you for uploading this Kenny. It's a real epidemic that people will not easily admit to. Easy access to social media can be detrimental to society, I hate to see it brushed off like it's nothing and as a person who lived before the days of the smartphone I know where you come from. Unplug & Live
Dude, finally someone says it! I e been thinking this for years now and I’ve said it in passing. As a society I feel like we’ve lost the personal connection with each other. I remember sitting somewhere and starting random conversations with people and having a great time. I feel like phones push people into a version of ADD, if you are on your phone too much you lose track of thoughts much easier. It’s awful seeing people out eating diner on their phones at the same table. For as helpful as some of the things on your phone can be, it really is evil. Leave your phone in another room and don’t touch it for a few hours and you’ll realize that you have more fun doing things, you’ll enjoy movies more, enjoy video games more, enjoy family time more. Thank you for talking about this Kenny! Another thing that has helped me a lot, meditation. Clears your mind and peels off all the crap the world has thrown on you, and underneath all of that is your truest self unburdened by the world.
I feel ya kenny and you do got a good point . I'm going to have to get rid of some of theses apps and give cell a break. Alot ppl in they own world on cell all day. In future half the ppl going be dating thoses doll robots they got in China why cause ppl don't know how to talk to real ppl anymore cause they always online. But thanks for video kenny
Thanks Kenny, I really needed to hear this. I deleted TikTok right after watching, and I might be getting rid of Reddit soon too with the amount of negative stuff I see on there everyday. I just wish I could more easily filter out the toxicity because I like reading gaming posts and discussions. Maybe it’s for the best to just let it go regardless
bruh I was literally talking to Jacky about this, this morning. Phone addiction, specifically social media has made people forget how to be human. I think a lot of people are getting their minds opened since Twitter became....something else, and we moved to the alternate. We all just felt relief from a pressure we didn't even know we were under. And now we want to run away from it and preserve our peace. Good for you man, I've been consistently trying to do the same for about 6 months, so I'll be right next to you on the journey.
Kenny, you're such a good dude. In a world where so many creators online shoot themselves in the foot doing stupid shit, it's nice to follow real ones.
This is a fantastic video. Worth watching every second. I know that Instagram takes up way too much of my time. Social Media is absolutely an addiction. The best part of this video is that your message is 100% correct and will have positive results for anyone who takes part with you. Unplugging is a great idea.
You’ve convinced me, I’ve deleted Insta and TikTok, we’ll give it a month and see where we are. Cheers Kenny, good video.
It's gonna be great man. I never used Tiktok, but I've been away from IG and even Facebook for nearly 7 years now and it's been real nice. (I only use messenger for communication with family and a handful of really close friends)
When he said that when you get uncomfortable you default to your phone. I felt that deeply. Nice talk Kenny!
This current social media is very bad right now and it's not worth it
Take care yourself Kenny!
Love listening to Kenny talk and share his thoughts.
Hey man, I couldn’t agree more about what you said in this video and I also believe it’s a tough issue to deal with because, the majority of out time is spent on the phone. Hope you find some people or family what you can connect with. It's hard being lonely so I know it's like quick sand, the more you are in it the harder it seems to get out, but unlike quicksand you can control the decent.
You are exactly right, spitting facts. Easily one of my favorite video's you have made.
I'm blessed with a beautiful wife and 5 kids. I'm less concerned about myself more my kids. It's rough
It's a never ending cycle. We never look at what we have achieved and be content.
Rather, we look at others who are ahead of us and be miserable chasing shadows.

Slapped myself out of it and now I spent that extra income on my children and wife and haven't been happier. We do activities outside rather then be on gadgets at home.
This is the type of video that can change people’s lives for the better. Thank you Kenny.
Lowkey needed this type of video, appreciate you my guy!
Kenny, everything you said about social media is so real! Live the moment and do what you want dude! Saludos desde Costa Rica!
Great vid Kenny! Be careful not to isolate yourself. That’s my one take away from leaving social media. You are no longer in the loop and people expect you to know about their lives because they share everything on Facebook. It’s quite surprising how offended some can be.

Appreciate you Kenny. This talk came at the perfect time for me and I uninstalled a bunch of apps while I listened. We doing better going into the new year✊🏾
Thank you Kenny. You are absolutely right about the comparisons and social media thing ❤
This rant was very demure, and I’m here for it. Going through this transition as of last month. Much respect Kenny 👌🏾
I’ve been trying it out not being on social media as much and it’s like peaceful and a lot of things immediately become available to do.
Kenny, you don't know how much i needed this, Thank You.
Great talk Kenny. Specially the comparison killing joy part. Couple month age I learned that I earn less than a colleague of mine and that kinda pissed me off cause we are doing the same work.

Kenny you definitely were cookin. Spitting truth my guy
As a 22 year old man this was hella inspiring. Glad you made this video!!!
Happy to see all the doods post more, you’re all cool and entertaining ppl
Thanks for the video Kenny. I've come to the point where I feel physically sick out of nowhere (maybe as an excuse to restrict myself to the screens.) Time to open up a few books.
Man, kenny... You really hit it on the button with this discussion. truly happy seeing this today. thank you for always being a real 1!
Good video Kenny!!! You’re right about phones and social media.
Thank you Kenny I needed this
Really glad you're talking about this dude. I need to address my own habits too. Let's all get mentally healthy together!
With you all the way, Kenny. Already follow you on Bluesky, too. Trying to get my wife to do the same thing but that is going to be a long and difficult process. But it is so worth it.
yeah, you’re 100% correct. I’m just letting you now that I share the sentiment, you’re not alone bro.

I've felt lonelier. I've felt hurt. So yes, props to all of that you said in this video, you're just saying what everyone else is thinking.
As someone who made this decision over a year ago, it's wild how much my perspective & mood changed for the better. Great video, Kenny!
Nice, I’m looking forward to seeing what new stuff you’re going to do.
it's nice to hear stuff like this from ppl like your self, and not only from ppl who do it for views. id say my mental health has gotten better after i got my cat. focusing on him instead of decaying over my phone. something that makes this hard is that most people around you are also far to deep into their phone. this video is verry much appreciated my dude ;)

Good luck on your journey Kenny! Cheers from Brazil!
Love you Kenny! Been off social media for 2 years now and my life has improved so much. Who cares what everyone else is doing. Go do shit
Heck yeah Kenny, I've been entering a new era for my life too. I've been trying to detox both my body and mind. Its been feeling great.
Can’t believe I wasn’t subbed but I am now! I deleted a lot of social media apps as well and I’ve been a lot better off. Cheers from Guam :)

I totally agree with your stance on setting small goals; I'm incredibly close to achieving my goal of opening my own food business without any accumulated debt and I've never felt so happy and full or self worth
I've already been doing some of these. Peace instantly comes in. Can't wait to see more of your stuff Kenny!
Cant wait to see more of your uploads! And I agree with a lot of what you were saying!

It’s always good to take breaks man I never looked back when I deleted many socials, mental health matters

Man what a great video. I totally agree with you, i often find myself doom scrooling and that shit sucks
Great video, Kenny! You've touched on valid points and it made me realize that life was better in the 2000s.
Unplug and delete. Game on, brotha!
Great introspective! Everyone can apply this advice.
12:42 Yeah, this was a long time coming now and am glad someone else like you said something about it.
Love this video Kenny you’re a real one🫶🏻

I'm glad I got off & I'm glad more are doing this, SM is a time suck & I'm glad to be focused on video gmaes and reading books again, feels like I've gained a part of me I lost long ago.
Thank you Kenny, good luck to you mah dood, we're all in this together.
Bro is spot on!!! It's crazy I was just feeling this way.....social media is an addiction and it's full of negative shit, we all should detox and mediate and pray more....I'm speaking to myself also I'm far from perfect, the shits hard but necessary
Realist vid you've dropped Kenny👏🏿🗣
Real talk.
Yes I am with you 100% I deleted FB and IG one month ago. its been tough to shake that habit of comparison. but i do feel a sense of healing.
LETS GO KENNY!!! GO OFF KING!
Thanks for preaching brother.
A real and chill yapping session, subscribed, good shit Kenny lol
Uncle Kenny spitting facts!
Really enjoyed this content. I feel this.
Thank you Kenny, it's important to talk about this and spread a good message!
Im freakin FEELIN you bro! this was a nice talk big homie.
Sure hope youre doing good man. Stay real, always!
Dope perspective. Nice to have some videos of you giving your thoughts on real stuff like this. We support you man!
Protect your peace.
damn, thanks. this is great 🤝
Call these videos "Cookin with Kenny" 🔥🔥
Kenny you are right man, sadly I cannot get rid of social media as I need it for my career. However, after watching this, I'll join you and only check my apps whenever work/jobs pop up. love the content man!
I feel you on this topic bro! When i go to shows i just be ij the moment those memories you make will be of more value than any vid on ur phone.
Kenny you should do more reactions to content in general. I really liked your take on the mk1 video before ur stream ended the other day
You definitely hit some good points in this video Kenny.
I love you kenny. Times are hard and i hope they get better. If not just know you and the boys helped me tons. But im @ my wits end
The truth is flowing here!
