I really hate our public school system in America and the way it’s funded. I tried wrestling for a season and was actually good at it but then our funding was cut. Our school couldn’t afford a coach and they got rid of the team. So many missed opportunities at scholarships and titles. The sad part is that they did the same thing to our track team when I joined that after wrestling.
Sad that, despite good athletes, minor sports or Olympic sports in the USA take a back seat to football and basketball.
Can I ask you a Question about Wrestling if you don't Mind?
This wasn't even an option in Australia, It's the only sport I would have been decent at :-(

Sounds like you're in the deep south. Where I am in the northeast, funding is NEVER cut for what are considered 'major' sports like football, wrestling, basketball, baseball, track, etc. There HAVE been some districts that either make parents pay for the equipment for the sport or charge a fee to participate so the school can supply the equipment.
@@williamconway470 I hate to tell you this dude, but if you're calling wrestling a 'minor' sport, attendance at high school wrestling has now surpassed football statistics show. In fact, overall, its the most attended high school sport.

In wrestling, that's called 'stalling' and you can be penalized points for it if the ref calls you on it!
I find it hard to believe that is 113 weight class
According to tournament records, Reid Sawyer weighed in at 113.7 lbs., while Logan Harel weighed in at exactly 113.0. There was a weight allowance in effect, which is why Sawyer qualified for 113 even though he would have normally been 0.7 over.

Why aren't they wearing ear protection??
Headgear is only mandatory in scholastic and collegiate competition. This tournament was organized by USA Wrestling, which does not mandate the use of headgear. Although wrestling without headgear can lead to a condition called cauliflower ear, which is painful and costly to correct, some view cauliflower ear as a sign of toughness and wear it like a badge of honor.

@@alexkx8599 Boxers are known for getting cauliflower ear too! Its quite common with them from all the punches to the head. I'm surprised you never heard of it!
