I have been listening to this album for years....and I always come back to this review just to feel like I'm discovering it all over again. I can't wait till another 3 or 4 years... This is going to be in rotation till the day that I'm rotting.
so happy you reviewed this, one of my favorite projects all year... to me, that XXX album was not for the depressed, it was so forced.. THIS is for the depressed, truly, spooky really made something.
I saw him live last year a week after this dropped. He really wasn’t doing well :( his voice was so stripped and tired and you could hella see his spine. I hope he’s doing okay now.
Am I the only one who finds "no title" to be the best song in the album? I mean the instrumental is amazing, the lyrics are and tone of it really hit me hard, and the ending breakdown of the instrumental and the last few lyrics match so perfectly. Really blown away by that song.
wholesome memes He does mention it briefly. He basically says it started off good but the flow of it was off and it ended on a low note for him. Basically saying he only like the first half. Idk tho I see what he's saying but I still love the song. I do agree with what he said about the fold up. I've heard that song live and thought it was great but I think the auto tune he put on his voice at some parts was really bad and the beat didn't match with what the album was consistently doing. I still think by itself the song is good but it was out of place and some parts were not done very good production wise.
You don't have to say you liked him ironically fam lol. Don't let people with a pretentious view of music take your enjoyment away from his older stuff. It was always pretty decent.
agreed however couch potato ep will forever be the most beautiful and most raw ep ever recorded. its the one for me i always come back to eventually after exploring other artists/albums etc... bobby raps' production compliments corbins vocals so well you can feel the pain in his voice (which has deffo improved over time) but bare in mind he was 16 when this came out...couch potato got me hating myself and loving myself at the same time you can tell this shit is just honest and real ....plus its mad to listen to on a comedown
Surprised 'The Fold Up' wasn't well liked, probably my favourite track. I agree that the falsetto was a bit strange but I thought the songwriting/storytelling on it was amazing.
I’m super late to this whole review, but I’ve been listening to Corbin and Bobby Raps heavily for a couple years now, and I’m entirely convinced that he’s joking about the Couch Potato LP… the quality isn’t amazing, but they also were not professionals at the time of its conception, I think it’s a great intro to both of their catalogues.
Dude you are one of the best music reviews ever, I don't need to tell you that, but I only hope this strokes your ego a bit and you end up writing a book sometime. From music head to the other you have broaden my scopes and helped me articulate my own views on the thing that is there with out you or me
I agree, read my comment. Even the lyrics of say a song like ' Break My Heart ' leave you gasping for air. I haven't seen anyone in a while that does this at age 14
I honestly enjoy every song thoroughly except The Fold Up. The Beach Goth 2016 live version is amazing, especially with the screaming and intensity Corbin delivers on it which isn't really matched on the album version at all. Minus that, this album has incredible replay value, especially with the song Mourn in particular with its haunting trap beat that almost seems hypnotizing. I've listened to that song everyday for months now. All in all, solid 8.5 in my opinion.
Everyone with cool jobs seems to have 'fallen into it'. Makes me feel better about not completing school as of yet, lol. I appreciate your work. I've been coming to El Club regularly for a little while now. They house some great talent. I have plans for about a dozen or so more shows in the next couple months. I already have tickets bought for the Shlohmo set, Shigeto's record release, and Underachievers meet & greet.
Thanks, melon. When straight to go listen to the album after listening a bit and checking the genres listed... I found a piece of my hear. And 40 bucks in a bag, but that was lost actually. The piece of heart I never knew I missed it. Thanks.
Although I'm a fan of many of the "sad" artists that you have slammed in the past, I have to say I 100% agree with you on this one, Corbin definitely did not disappoint.
I know your current content keeps you busy but I would love to see you make a few playlists for different moods. Generally I think you're spot on at hearing the tone of tracks and think it would be cool to see some of your favorite tracks for different moods
you called him pathetic, at least he tried
Underrated joke haha
justin a That's because most of these comment goons ain't even listened to the album

Melon, if you have a daughter and you don't name her Melonie, I swear to god.
Melonie martinez
This is one of the greatest albums released in the last 22 years, absolutely beautiful
Seriously. Down to the mixing and mastering. It’s fantastic
Couch Potato mediocre EP???? wtf lol
Right? Fuck this guy.
You guys are so edgy
I'm pissed
His taste sucks apparently. Unsubbed
"with this dude named bobby raps" wow the disrespect......

yup
this is the DOOMER album
Absolutely quintessential
Did you just call Couch potato bad? That album was amazing!
Jakob Algeblad right
Couch Potato is one of my favourite albums from the last couple of years. Fantano should have cleaned his ears out before listening.
frozen tundra is such a fire fucking song.
Seriously Couch Potato is amazing. I just think guy needs to take an acid trip while listening to🤷🏻♂️
Exactly
U buggin fold up is amazing
I still listen to Without U unironically sometimes.
Dillon Procell same. Love this track
It is a beautiful song, no doubt. I just have known people who couldn't get past the video enough to take him seriously.
^ honestly. I probably like the song more due to the video.
you should let yourself enjoy the things you like instead of letting other peoples opinions decide how you consume them
Reason is my favorite track
Oh shit this is Spooky Black?
Jordan yessir
is this

+Expression
When an artist changes their name not everyone is gonna notice yo, no big deal.
....
I have been listening to this album for years....and I always come back to this review just to feel like I'm discovering it all over again. I can't wait till another 3 or 4 years... This is going to be in rotation till the day that I'm rotting.
New one is out
Completely disagree with the fold up, my favorite track
so happy you reviewed this, one of my favorite projects all year... to me, that XXX album was not for the depressed, it was so forced.. THIS is for the depressed, truly, spooky really made something.
Carlos Cruz you should try tge new Xiu Xiu album, "Forget".
xxx is false sad.
I saw him live last year a week after this dropped. He really wasn’t doing well :( his voice was so stripped and tired and you could hella see his spine. I hope he’s doing okay now.
X dickriders are the fake sad
brandon boof. Shut the fuck up.
Am I the only one who finds "no title" to be the best song in the album?
I mean the instrumental is amazing, the lyrics are and tone of it really hit me hard, and the ending breakdown of the instrumental and the last few lyrics match so perfectly. Really blown away by that song.
it's so much better than ice boy and mourn, easily the best song on the album by far. dissappointed melon didn't even mention it.
wholesome memes He does mention it briefly. He basically says it started off good but the flow of it was off and it ended on a low note for him. Basically saying he only like the first half. justin a the fold up easily best song
justin a YES I FUCKING LOVE THAT SONG BRO, ITS SO FUCKIN BEAUTIFUL
its my favorite song off the album
I think his review is on point but "the fold up" is the best song on the album in my opinion
YES
No title is dope too
i fucking love that song
It's so good
Damn, more shots at XXXTENTACION.
TheDragoonFactor Lol, true.
He was moreso criticizing peoples reaction of X's video
Joe Yeah, by comparing them to Cal who's character is supposed to be a musical pleb. So basically he's calling them dumb lol
Bill Cosby exactly. Fantano's great at incorporating satire. It's sad often seeing so many people failing to comprehend the message
TheDragoonFactor I keep seeing you on Paul Joseph Watson's comment section on his X video
I was a Huge Spook fan but i liked him kinda ironically, i honestly didnt think this album would be THIS good.
Yung Soundcloud Liked him ironically? he's always been good at singing
Yung Soundcloud this album was shit
ah you forgot to put a 'the' before 'shit'
you're welcome
You don't have to say you liked him ironically fam lol. Don't let people with a pretentious view of music take your enjoyment away from his older stuff. It was always pretty decent.
Greg ya his old stuff def seemed kinda inconsistent but some songs were really good
agreed however couch potato ep will forever be the most beautiful and most raw ep ever recorded. its the one for me i always come back to eventually after exploring other artists/albums etc... bobby raps' production compliments corbins vocals so well you can feel the pain in his voice (which has deffo improved over time) but bare in mind he was 16 when this came out...couch potato got me hating myself and loving myself at the same time you can tell this shit is just honest and real ....plus its mad to listen to on a comedown
5 years later I totally agree, one of my favorite albums by far
Still waiting on Ghost With Skin where u at
This album is still an absolute 10/10 for me I swesr on my life
Still listen to this album every day
He didn't like The Fold Up...
Hunker Down isn't in his top picks.
I'm mostly just... confused?
GHOST WITH SKIN
Dis dude is wrong 2 years later this is still my favorite fuckin album
No Title, best song on the album easy
No, the title track is.
so true
it’s never enough
NEW CORBIN IN A FEW DAYS
SO EXCITED
If I hear another Corbin Blue joke I'm gunna neck myself.
Surprised 'The Fold Up' wasn't well liked, probably my favourite track. I agree that the falsetto was a bit strange but I thought the songwriting/storytelling on it was amazing.

Still holds up today, especially on drives
Anthony dude , its time to review ghost with skin !
AYEE he actually reviewed this!! You highkey disrespected Bobby raps tho!!
Revenge Song literally transferred pain to me... that song cuts like a knife
why are the people in the comments mad? he gave it a 7/10. Thats a fucking high score for needledrop
Corbin/spooky black still underrated
Corbin has a new music video for "Hunker Down" out now
was ready to dislike cause i was for sure u were gonna talk shit about this masterpiece
I just realized this guy looks like a berry or do you people think he looks like another type of fruit?
pretty sure people say banana idk
Joel Robertson maybe an apple
Joel Robertson I'm feeling a decent kiwi cuz of that fuzz on his face.
Looks like a mango head to me
onion boi
Xxx and spooky are like the same age
Dude you are one of the best music reviews ever, I don't need to tell you that, but I only hope this strokes your ego a bit and you end up writing a book sometime. From music head to the other you have broaden my scopes and helped me articulate my own views on the thing that is there with out you or me
Recently became a fan of Corbin, you should review his new album Ghost With Skin
He sort of did and said he was very disappointed. I personally love it and prefer it to Mourn but there you go...
@@manicbeats9356 yeah I prefer ghost with skin but I’d agree mourn is more impressive vocally
makes me mad that he doesn’t know the whole album is one big fictional story, in a way
yup. it's pretty direct from all out/hunker down onwards. definitely my favorite aspect of the album.
His new album Ghost with Skin is his best work by far.. Been on repeat since it dropped
This Album is in my personal top 10 and i guess it will stay there for my whole life...
I love Corbin
Revenge song made me cry so hard
Corbin (FKA Spooky Black) - The Fold Up - BEACH GOTH 2016, change your mind.
Glad you did this review- such a sick album and Corbin deserves more recognition I think
Bro perfectly explains corbins distressed whininess in his vocals, exactly what I love about his music
Princess Nokia - 1992 deluxe
Hunker down best song on the album
If this generations kurt cobain is XXXtentacion, the next generations XXX must be Cal chuchesta
Listen to lucki
RESPECTFULLY, I disagree His early albums had a lot of heart he was just so young and still finding himself.
I agree, read my comment. Even the lyrics of say a song like ' Break My Heart ' leave you gasping for air. I haven't seen anyone in a while that does this at age 14
I LOVE this thing. super emotional. His voice is amazing it sounds like if Sampha recorded his music in a dark castle
It's time for you to do this again melon head, Ghost With Skin time
Subbed, very good description
I honestly enjoy every song thoroughly except The Fold Up. The Beach Goth 2016 live version is amazing, especially with the screaming and intensity Corbin delivers on it which isn't really matched on the album version at all.

THE FOLD UP IS THE BEST SONG
Best Album 2017
And now he got a banger with Laroi, suck on that santana
He said Corbin was good lmao
i didnt even expect him to cover this album
Good review, I'll check the album. I'll be seeing Corbin w/ Shlohmo and D33J at El Club later this month.
KvatchIsInDanger I did the flyer for that show
Ah that's sweet! How did you get into designing flyers? What other graphical designs do you do?
KvatchIsInDanger just fell into it! I do a lot for El Club. Did that Danny Brown flyer, etc
M B that's awesome, what's your twitter??
Everyone with cool jobs seems to have 'fallen into it'. Makes me feel better about not completing school as of yet, lol.
I appreciate your work. I've been coming to El Club regularly for a little while now. They house some great talent. I have plans for about a dozen or so more shows in the next couple months. I already have tickets bought for the Shlohmo set, Shigeto's record release, and Underachievers meet & greet.
i think corbin’s voice is rlly good
i think you're wrong about his falsetto on the fold up, melon. i liked it a lot, and thought it fit great.
Idk about you guys but Corbin is a vibe
Review some REM albums because it's the end of the world as we know it.
What has this got to do with anything?
There's a starman waiting in the sky Review some REM albums because I’m Everybody Hurts
Here after listening to Ghost with Skin and it's his best work by far!!!
Dragged goes so fucking hard. During the second part where the club music type shit starts 😍😍 my heart
SPOOKY BLACK THE GAWD
Mourn might be the most basic song on the album, but I feel it the most.
so when are u gonna review Ghost With Skin
Thanks, melon. When straight to go listen to the album after listening a bit and checking the genres listed... I found a piece of my hear. And 40 bucks in a bag, but that was lost actually. The piece of heart I never knew I missed it. Thanks.
I'm MORBIN listening to CORBIN.
*pushes glasses up nose with finger*
Need a review to his new album ✊🏼
It's his best work by far in my opinion. I've had it on repeat since it dropped.
@@peacebone420 Really? I didn't feel it really topped mourn. Felt like he lost a lot of his iconic and unique personality music-wise since 2017.
@@peacebone420 that shit was a MASSIVE step backwards from Mourn. Really disappointing he didn’t push the envelope further
My review of his new album is 0/10. I didn’t enjoy a minute of it.
like alot of spooky black music didnt know this was same guy have to check it out
You're like the skip Bayless of music
Wow rly thought he woulda hated it and wrote it off as moody cringy bad singing garbage music
good review very fair
can you do a review of his new album
Listen to his performance of "the fold up" at BEACH GOTH, in my opinion it's sounds way better than the studio version
Although I'm a fan of many of the "sad" artists that you have slammed in the past, I have to say I 100% agree with you on this one, Corbin definitely did not disappoint.
Cant wait for the review of the new album thats gonna drop tmrw :)
Swear to god this better be an 8 at the VERY LEAST
The title and artist name made me think this was a black metal album.
I live and breath this album but I will admit that I cant listen to it without people thinking I'm upset.
Do 'I Hate Mars Bars'.
he is in the new the kid laroi video!
You hurt my feelings with your “mediocre” ratings of his album with Bobby raps.
He has his own style certain people vibe to it but hey everyone had their opinion
Couch Potato was amazing fym
Daniel Caesar's Freudian 🙌
This guy didn't understand this album. Sad
this guy doesnt have good taste bro
This is a pretty positive review for fantano, its higher than a 7 for sure
something safe is perfect
I know your current content keeps you busy but I would love to see you make a few playlists for different moods. Generally I think you're spot on at hearing the tone of tracks and think it would be cool to see some of your favorite tracks for different moods
I love the intro.
THANK GOD. I WAS GETTING PISSED THAT YOU HADN'T REVIEWED THIS YET! LOVE YOU MELON
CAL IS BACK!! 😍
0:07 is it just me or does this man sound like a very broken washing machine
