  • This film consists of old footage I shot a while back, which I only got around to editing within the last month. My goal, with this edit, was to have some fun with the process and create something that isn’t very serious. Something that borders on silliness. In many ways the editing style of this film is an homage to one of my favourite skate films, from back in the day, Transworld Skateboarding’s “The Reason”, released in 1999.
Skateboarding goes down as one of my favourite activities to film. I find the level of bravery that this sport demands from the riders to be inspiring. There’s also something thrilling about holding your camera dangerously close to the skater’s board, as you follow them on a board of your own.
For me, lockdown meant getting the opportunity to edit passion projects that I had never got around to. That was exactly the case with this skate film. I shot it in August 2015 and only got around to editing it in August 2020! At the time the computer setup I was working with wasn’t fast enough to process this footage, so I put all my filming passion projects on hold and only got the opportunity to get around to them once I had upgraded my system…plus a a couple years of being busy with paid work…
Massive thanks to the skaters for your commitment and for your patience.
