I KNOW you have a friend who NEEDS to see this video because they want to ride, and you want to ride with them! Go ahead and share it :) And if you could ad your own tips to be more free, what would they be?
Having the "nicest things" without working for them probably isn't an option for the majority of the audience. Most of us haven't been blessed with a windfall of unearned cash. It has been necessary to work to earn the things we might want to have. So, "if you dont work but still have the nicest things," why are you looking for anyone else's approval?
Yes sir! We believe the stories that we tell our self. Good or bad, repeating friend or foe, like it or not... we believe the stories that we tell our self. It's also important to: be the person you want to be, live the life that you want to live, so you can have those things true to your heart. Yes sir!
Start with what you have and master the skill of maintaining your own machines. I've been doing the moto-life on 80's JDM bikes for the last 12 years and have yet to have a bad time. Recently starting getting into adv and have built a 82' gl500 adventure bike that will take me anywhere but the muddy stuff. But then again, I've probably spent more on r&d than I would have if I'd just gone out and bought a dr650 or other dedicated dual sports.
As a retired psychologist, I have to say your videos are spot on and provide a valuable resource to others searching for happiness and fulfillment in life! Your openness and candor are to be commended. Ride on!
Holy freaking cow, great video! i was having a conversation with my mom about what would makes me happy.... As i was watching this video, she was cleaning up behind me and she stopped in her tracks and watched the whole video. Now thats powerful. thanks again for the positive motivating words.... 6 thumbs up.
the Fear part inspired me..... i have allot of fear in my life ( things from the past)..... thnx for giving me the feeling i am not alone and it's ok to be scared for a big trip.....
This is why I am subscribed to your channel. This is why I wake up, I check certain news sites and videos, and this one follows me to the shower so I can listen, watch, and continue my day. This is why I share these videos with friends and people that I care about. And maybe not just adventure riders, but people that might need to should adjust their attitudes, , have some self reflection, and/or they might even need a video that acts as an unimposing life coach. ;-) Great job. Keep it coming. You make a wonderful and positive difference.
Hey eveRide - personally I think this is your best vid on the tube ever. Agree that freedom is much greater with material possessions reduced to a point where you can stash your world belongings on a bike and travel. Freely. This sometimes takes many years of planning and a few reminders along the way to make it so.
Who would have thought that a simple ADV channel would one day turn into the Wise Man on the Hill. That's a compliment. Great scenery and message. Glad you all got to ride together.
As a new comer to this facinating world of Adventure riding (and to two wheeled riding as well) I have watched many videos on technique, training, etc... Of all of these, I think this is the one has been the most informative. We all learn how to ride through experience and practice, but in this story Tyler helps us with probably the most important aspect of riding. The "Why" we ride. Cudo's to you Tyler for helping me understand this. I know it will help me become a better rider and make riding more enjoyable.
I’ve been feeling the need to change up my life a little and seek my own happiness more. This video found me at a good time and is very well thought out and inspiring. Thank you.
I just recently stumbled upon you channel while looking for videos about the XT225. I just watched “5 Tricks to Work Less and ADVENTURE MORE!” and “Is Adventure a Wise Investment” and I have to say they really inspire me. I've been on a journey of self-improvement lately, focussing on mental and physical health, work/family balance, alcohol use, debt reduction, and studying the Stoic philosophers (Aurelius, Epictetus, Seneca, ect). These videos hit almost all the themes I've been focusing on, and it really spoke to me. I know inspiration isn't enough, but it sure helps a “work in progress”. Thanks for putting your work out there people to enjoy and learn from. For now my 2-wheeled adventures will involve pedals(once the Western Montana snow melts), but I look forward to getting out there.
One of the most truth filled awesome videos I've seen in a long time, this definitely got me stoked for my next big adventure. Your world is what you make it!
Tyler, in my opinion, this is definitely one your finest contributions. I'll be keeping this video in my tool box and pull it out when I need to reset my inner compass. Well done pal. Rick
Fantastic video Tyler! Great life lessons put forth. I retired at 55 years old financially secure and debt free. I can buy anything I want. My car is an 8 year old Nissan, haven't found one I like better. My used motorcycles are a 6 year old Super Tenere and 8 year old V-strom650, I am very happy with both. Success is getting what you want, happiness is wanting what you've got. I feel very fortunate to be happy. Best wishes to you Tyler, your service to our moto community is of immeasurable value. With gratitude~
No wonder you are one of my heroes! Well written, well spoken and beautifully filmed and edited. The wisdom that flows from your trials and your love of others is truly inspiring.
Very well said brother, has to be one of the best shake down speech for the riders who are feeling low. I would just say that if you love riding go ride thats the beat thing one can do to rejuvenate himself/herself. God bless you all. And yes FEAR is the FIRE within always keep it alive. Ride Hard n Ride Safe.
Watching this was one of the most encouraging and positive things I've ever experienced. Not because I didn't know... those are exactly the things that have driven wifey & I to lead the life we do - we don't believe in debt, or buying stuff to look good or any of that, we are not "rich" but man, our lives are rich :) No - rather it was because you said it so well, you spoke so much truth that I wish I was hearing from the media, politicians and even joe public, and, most of all, because you pointed out just how many of us 8 billion humans are wonderful human beings... it is true - anyone who travels with an open mind should know that. Great stuff mate, I hope you let your own words help yourself as much as they help others, stay on top and just remember that your attitude is exactly what the world needs and will make a difference :)
"Rich people buy assets, poor people buy liabilities," is a mantra I try to follow that was lifted from the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad." It's a good read, and for me, life changing. Great vid as usual Tyler, stunning videography and equally great message.
Joy, I have been watching your channel for a long time (do not draw a conclusion from my registration date). Well, I had a XT660Z which initially served everyday travel needs. Later a new job limited my use of my bike. At the same time, however, I get to know a bunch of guys (almost all of them over 40) and meet the true world of dual sport. So what do I want to tell you? Your videos were inspiration to me. Recently, in my life came a little treasure, my son! So I've limited enough of the big trips with the bike. But ... I can still live daily driving adventures. So I sold the heavy XT660Z and last May 2017 I bought the last WR250R in Greece, which was forgotten as not customs cleared in the Yamaha warehouses and an amazing dealer found for me. .. A Brand New 2014 Model. I loved it! I am currently preparing it by equipping it with the necessary protectors for the autumn that is coming. Summer is very hot in Greece. Thank you and keep doing good work with your beautiful videos!
Cannot say enough how deeply your channel has inspired me to be a safe, conscientious and excited rider. I hope to lead moto tours of the state of virginia in the coming years, and your information and content has pushed me towards this goal. Ride safe and have fun, much love!!
My wife and I had the chance to meet them in person and a few days later Jay, Misty and myself took a nice 1/2 day long ride through the Great Smokey Mountains. They are a truly amazing couple who my wife and I have a great love and respect for. They are the real deal. THANK YOU for posting this vid up eveRide.
I have no riding buddies to share this with, but I'm so happy I found it! This was amazing, it goes along with a new chapter I've started in my life! Thank you!
I agree totally with your thoughts. I was blessed to learn these things early in life. It is a shame more people can't learn to be happy with what really makes them happy and not fall into the trap of thinking things will make them happy. Especially things they need to borrow to purchase. Great video!
Great video, Awesome subject, Wonderful narrative. The footage is as crisp and clear as the message. The actors (nice touch in the credits) seem like really great people, I've been subscribed to Hawk Girl for some time now and enjoy the content very much. Thanks to both of you!
Thanks Tyler for this video. I struggle with the same things and it helps to hear someone say the words out loud to help dig out of the pit. The biking is great and so are your insights.
I love this video!! Great narrative with an abundance of raw truth. Jason and Hawkgirl are very blessed people who are living the dream. Thanks so much for the wise words!!
Hey man, spot on with the slave to banks portion and the sentiments around what people should value vs the vanity based choices most make. Ton’s of great advice here I wish more would take to heart.
Recently ran across your channel while researching a Yamaha Serow for the back of my motorhome. You have created some amazingly spot on content and I admire your honesty with yourself. This video should be included in high school economics classes!! I think you hit the nail on the head and knocked the ball out of the park, congratulations. I have subscribed and will be looking forward to following you. Mike
Thank you Tyler for letting us be part of your family and showing us the beautiful back country of St. George! We loved the video and you succeeded at making even us look good, lol! 😜
Tyler, this video is some of your very best work. As usual .... you inspire me and my 12 yr old boy with great riding footage and even better advice and perspective.
Great video, you nailed it. I haven't had a credit card for over 11 years, what a relief. I own a small, very small const. co. I work when I want and ride when I want to. It's just flat around here. Ride safe my 2 wheel friends.
Very interesting thoughts. I've been debt free for many years and it has definitely make a difference in my life, my personal rule for motorcycles and cars is to own the one I can pay cash - and pay it for it twice in case something very bad happens. Also, a few years ago I made a New Year's resolution that I have kept for about 5 years now: To have less stuff, to own less items. Since then I avoid wasting money in small purchases, reducing the amount of stuff around the house. It also means passing over everything I'm not using to someone will do, from a pair of shoes to a Go Pro, if I don't used it frequently, if it doesn't serve a purpose, I just find someone and pass it over.
Great, great, great video and great content Tyler! Thanks! Your productions, from video footage to editing, are amazingly refined (I still remember watching some of the early videos) and your audio content is entertaining, well balanced, easy to listen to, and very worthwhile to hear. "Everide" is definitely an element of me (as well as Neil Peart and Ewan & Charlie) as a motorcycle rider, and I'm better because of it. I always look forward to seeing what you'll come up with next and I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for all the lessons learned, info and tips!
As Always, thanks so much for this awesome content! If I may I would like to add one point...that is, Just making the choice. I've been traveling the world by motorcycle for the past 3 years and everything starts with a single choice. So many people will talk and talk and talk and never make the choice. Making that single choice to explore our beautiful world and meet amazing people was the best choice I could have ever made...my happiness now comes from the relationships I've cultivated all around the world...learning about how they live, their hopes an dreams and their choices. Maybe the hardest choices are the most formative. Thanks for this great vid and giving exposure to those who deserve it. Cheers; ADV ON!
Wise words Tyler, I have come to believe and practice much of what you have said but it has taken me a long time to realize these things. So well said. Life is too short, take the road that makes you happy and help as many people along the way as possible and you will realize true happiness. Make the journey at least as important as the destination.
I know this is an old video but just watched it.... man just what I needed to hear. Thanks. You have a great talent for breaking down complex ideas into colloquial and interesting script. Thanks again 🙏
Great vid! As always Tyler love how you make some really well thought out and thorough points on the topic at hand while still maintaining a level of simplicity and ease of understanding. A lot of great stuff to think on!
Fantastic video as always Tyler! Very well thought out, I believe these 5 tips can help anybody facing change or uncertainty in their future, but especially those desiring to really travel the free way (both on/offroad and rural/urban). Dual sports just make this so much more in reach than over-landers that cost tens of thousands of dollars to buy and run. After helping a friend find a clean 06 XT225 for just $1800 and seeing him keep up with my 2016 KLR pretty much everywhere we went, I realized you could easily spend more on a television or a laptop than what you could get away with for the cost of a cheap dual sport and several adventures that you WILL remember for a lifetime.
This content is so good! I'm not a hardcore follower but I'm really glad I watched this one. Got my license not too long ago, and while my current plan is sports touring (childhood dream, I need one - dual sport later), I'm totally with you when it comes to life priorities and your philosophy in general. Realizing what actually brings value to your life and making sure your decisions match those goals really is the key. "It's hard to stop someone who won't give up".
Also, creds for talking about your depression! Had to sink quite deep to get enough of it and dedicate my life to rising from that state of mind. But like I said, "It's hard to stop someone who won't give up".
I've been dealing with a lot of negativity in my life lately. I have sold my bike. This video helped put a lot into perspective. Keep up all the good work. Again thank you
Thank you for making this video because, in my case, it hits the nail on the head. I've never rode a motorcycle but am very interested in purchasing a not so used one as I'm mechanically declined at the moment. The items you touched on are real but the positives outweigh the negative. I hit 61 next week and a FEW pounds over the limit and realize i'm way behind the experience curve but enjoy nature and the outdoors. Haven't decided on a motorcycle to begin with. Nothing new or fancy. Preferably, a small work horse. What to do. One step at a time. Again, thank you.
Same as with cars, motorcycle are build for specific reasons and riding styles. Think of where and why you want to ride it and then buy one in the class you fit to say so ... ( not trying to label) In the beggining you'll switch some untill you find Nirvana but is a ride of discovery so. Hope on the adventure .
This has to be one of the best videos I’ve viewed in a long time! The content hit the nail directly on the head, what REALLY makes someone happy? If I could give you more than one thumbs up on this video you’d have it !! 👍🏼👍🏼
Down in Las Vegas, just got into dual sporting but I'm an avid Outdoorsman lover of the Southwest keep doing what you doing thanks for the great life advice and if we all lived a little happier and within our means world would be a better place Happy Trails!
Another beautiful video. And it was accompanied by sage advice. I too am fearful of going on rides but go anyways and am glad I went. It is terrible to have these fearful feelings.
First, I must tell you that I've been enjoying your videos since I got back into riding after a 3 year absence. I've been riding most of my life though. My comment is regarding this particular video. I think you have expressed the values you've shared, very well. I'm now at the point in life you describe. I have recently retired and my finances are pretty much in order (except my spending now on motorcycles lol), I've already traveled the world several times, however not on motorcycles. I came back with a R1200GS (which a truck decided to use as a target and backed up over and totaled. I wasn't hurt.) the insurance paid for my S1000XR and now I finally bought a pre-owned 2017 DRZ400S. I love it. I want to ride it the way you and many others ride yours. I have those 5 points you mention pretty handled but what I'm missing are partners in crime. I've done many rides over the past 2 years by myself and would love to find others (and I've been looking) to play motorcycle with. Also, here in Texas there isn't as much local beauty when you finally do find an off-road route. I loved seeing Hawk Girl's truck. Something I've been thinking about doing for about a year. Not that large a truck but one that will fit me, my bike and my gear. Anyway, sorry for rambling on. Thanks for sharing your passion and your great (and I do mean great) videos. I can say that with some authority since I spent 40+ years as a Radio/TV professional. Good Job Everide, good job!
Hell YES!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited to see this!!!!! WhoooHoooo! They're awesome! Looking forward to riding with them again soon......Mind blown.......this is amazing.
One of the BEST Vids on the web!! If you ever get a thumbs down on this or your other vids, please realize it's most likely from someone who is "addicted" to drama and stealing someone else's positive energy - it's just how these trolls feel alive. 🤷🏻♂️ We all have our "addictions" - but don't let someone else's personal hang ups get YOU down - You really do Great work!! Keep it up!!
This is an awesome video man, thanks! I loved the happy part, that is how I feel, I ride and love being off the main roads because it makes me happy, challenges me and I get to see places many are not able to. Thanks again!
As much as I love watching your normal riding videos, this one just about tops them all, and the one about why you ride. Great stuff. Hope to cross paths one day on the trail.
Awesome video Tyler, Jay and Misty are great people and fellow motovloggers, I met them and had Dinner with the in Fayettevlle Arkansas on there way back home, They told me they had a great time at your place. It's nice to meet good folks like Jay & Misty who share a common interest. I have enjoyed my RUclips channel so much and all the friends that I have met along the way. Ride On my friend !
Pretty great words and ideas spoken in this one! The photography equally impressive. I need to come to Utah real soon and do some riding and camping on the bike.
I'm going to watch this video every time I say I "need" something lol. My life-recipe: low debt, an active savings account, welcome stepping out of comfort zone, and possibly the most important - surround yourself with good people.
Just came across your vid. Excellent. So much truth. Amazing. An indictment on my own life and debt..... except that mine were also children related. But wise words. Kudos!
I'm going into work tomorrow because I love my job and I truely enjoy the hard work and challenges, I also just bought my first motorcycle so I guess I have to go to pay my debts as well haha. Great video as usual, Just found your channel last week and i've been watching your videos dreaming of getting out on my new bike and exploring the world.
I am the captain of my soul. My ship is really slow, though. It's like a charlie brown sailboat in that one Peanuts cartoon with the river race. Best Peanuts cartoon ever!
Bravo!! you're a pretty wise young man. I second all those mentioned points. After a lifetime of slaving to debt I am debt free for the last 8 years and suddenly little family surprises are so much more affordable. I ride a Chinese 250 bike that costs brand new less than $2000 and when out in the dirt with my kids on their bike I have the same fun without worrying too much if I drop it in a ditch because there is no bank looking over my shoulder to see how I treat their asset. My friends who still do the vanity route don't go play with their bikes for exactly the last reason above... what a sad situation. Best part is I can replace my entire bike for the price of some of the plastics on those European showpieces.
wow, the first time i've seen locus of control in a bike vid tyler, well done! i would try to do this but my locus is too externalized to give it a try lol. :)
OMG! I'm loving your videos! I recently did a solo trip from London to Mongolia on a 125cc Yamaha, and I realized that I have these exact 5 things innate in me. I don't consciously think about it, but looking at your video makes me realize that! Keep up your good work and let me know if you come to Boston area sometime!
Nice job on another motivational video Tyler! I think I need to put together a playlist of your videos and make the wife watch them because you are much better at getting these points across than I am! 😂
I KNOW you have a friend who NEEDS to see this video because they want to ride, and you want to ride with them! Go ahead and share it :) And if you could ad your own tips to be more free, what would they be?
eveRide ADV don't be afraid to buy an old bike and learn to work on it.
Great video! And about working...so if u dont work but still have the nicest things is that bad? Like 100% brand new SUV and dual sport bikes?
Having the "nicest things" without working for them probably isn't an option for the majority of the audience. Most of us haven't been blessed with a windfall of unearned cash. It has been necessary to work to earn the things we might want to have.

Being debt free is the foundation from which all happiness is built. Learning this lesson late in life is costly in many ways

Outstanding commentary Tyler. How much really boils down to just being afraid...
"Fear is the mind killer."
Your videos are a treasure. Especially this one. Thank you!
Found this gem. Motorcycles=better life. Thanks for reminding us all again. Your channel is amazing, visually and psychologically.

Wow, seriously meaningful video, past just ADV riding... This video needs millions of views.

True. One thing that always brings a smile to my face is throwing my leg over my DR-Z and taking off into the sunset

So glad I found your channel. I love the positivity. Yes to this video!
Tyler, this video is some of your very best work. As usual .... you inspire me and my 12 yr old boy with great riding footage and even better advice and perspective.
Great message Tyler. You verbalized many of the thoughts that have been in my heart. Thanks for sharing.
One of your best videos ever, sir! Notifications ON.
Wasn't what I was expecting when I clicked on the link....but it certainly hit home and was quite thought provoking. Well done.
Very good video...agree that being debt free is the best feeling ever!
Beautiful message brother! Ride on!
I love your honesty and attitude.
3:25 i cant express my love of your explanation about this enough.
Being as debt free as possible is very important. Everybody get on your bikes :)
What a fantastic video! Very inspirational for my wife and me, thanks for putting our great content and keep up the good work.
Hell YES!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited to see this!!!!! WhoooHoooo! They're awesome! Looking forward to riding with them again soon......Mind blown.......this is amazing.
Twistygrip Can you believe that was us, lol!
Literally caused tears of joy!!!!!! So happy for you guys!!!
suck up. stay safe
LOL!!!!!
Thanks again!
your cinematography is amazing
Very inspiring :)
Thank you very very much! Everybody probably knows that but it is so important to be reminded what happiness truly means
Great video my dude! Thank you for inspiring me and many others to live a good life!
A beautiful video with great meaning. Well done.
As much as I love watching your normal riding videos, this one just about tops them all, and the one about why you ride. Great stuff. Hope to cross paths one day on the trail.
Great Video! GREAT Commentary! Thank you so much for making these!
Wow! Excellent video and a philosophy to deep think about.
Best thing I've seen on YT in years! Thank you.
Bravo!! you're a pretty wise young man.
eveRide ADV great very well made inspiring videos
I really enjoyed this video. Such simple truth. Well done sir. Keep up the great work.
Mongol Rally??
This is one of my favorite videos of yours.
Right Arm! Excellent video and advice from the "Gentle Tuber" !!!
What a great video!!!! Really enjoyed it
Spot on. Just like Barry Morris from Cross Training Enduro. I just wish we had the endless trails in the UK that you have.
Thank you for your time. TN
Such a great video! Couldn't agree more... and yet I have much to act on.
Dude, seriously LOVE your videos!!!!
Nice job on another motivational video Tyler! I think I need to put together a playlist of your videos and make the wife watch them because you are much better at getting these points across than I am! 😂
Inspirational as always Tyler.
Great video + words of wisdom Tyler!
Beautiful landscapes
Thanks for the inspirational video! Great work!
