This is one of the things that people can easily overlook. Anytime someone tells me they're traveling internationally for the first time (I live in the US), it's one of the first things I tell them to get before going!
I head out on my trip to Iceland tomorrow afternoon. This is the first of your videos I watched since I booked my trip to the land of Ice and Fire back in March. I've watched them since and re-watch them in case there is something pertinent I may have missed or forgotten. Thanks for the videos! I think they'll help immensely. 🐭
Such a great explanation in clearing up the dilemma of what my electrical decices will need while using them in Iceland. TY so much for your time and help, Jeannie! ❤
FIRST! Going this Saturday and will be there Sunday March 3rd to Friday March 8th. Jeannie, your channel and FB group have been SUPER helpful! Can't wait!
I'm so glad I found this video, Jeannie!! The company I'm traveling with, from the US, told us we would need Type E AND Type H adapters for Iceland. Both completely false... LOL! You've given me all the best information on all the topics!!
Thanks for this! (And your other videos!) And thanks for the adapter recommendation! I bought 2 for my upcoming November trip. Keep up the great (and helpful) work!
When you're buying a voltage converter to use with a hair dryer, or basically with anything that is made to get hot, you have to make sure to get one that can handle the power that those devices need. The little ones that fit in your pocket are typically only good for a couple hundred watts, and for a hair dryer you'll need 1000 watts or more. You may actually be better off just buying a 220 volt hair dryer at your destination, or get one that can be switched between 110 and 220 V, so you'll just need a plug adapter...
I'm planning on going to iceland this summer in order to take a short course of icelandic it'll be amazing to go overthere, can't hardly wait¡¡¡¡ I hope I can earn my right to go...
Good vid. Im from Iceland and when I go to the US I take an adapter, Luckily most gadgets are rated for all volts. But any way as you say♦ it is very important to look at this if you don't want to fry your phone.
It should work! I'm no electrician so please do more research but dual voltage devices should be just fine with an ADAPTER only - since the prongs won't fit into the wall properly. No convertor needed. I would assume that the converter and curling iron wouldn't be affected at all if you used both.

Hi Michelle! Do you have US electronics? If so, this or something similar should be just fine: www.amazon.com/Voltage-Converter-International-Adapter-European/dp/B073J9QWKY/ref=sr_1_13?crid=342IBWT8YKJ28&keywords=usa+to+europe+voltage+converter&qid=1682604839&sprefix=usa+to+e%2Caps%2C108&sr=8-13
@@IcelandwithaView yes! I checked my hairdryer curl and flat irons and two of them go up to 230- or maybe it was 240- but one does not. So I definitely need the converter. Is this BOTH a converter and adapter?
I've seen EU adapters & converters with both 4.8mm & 4.0mm prongs. Which is correct for use in Iceland, Italy, Egypt & Greece will I need one of each size?
Planning vacation in Iceland2020... Don’t want to blow up the hotel - movie, just married... Standard USA flat iron.. can I just purchase a C or F adapter? When I was in Scotland I didn’t buy converter, just an adapter from Amazon and it worked very well... does same apply to Iceland? Thanks love your videos and can’t wait to get to Iceland!!
thank you and great video with a terrific explanation. 👍 Yes this is something that WE need to know. BY the way I grew up in the Disco era so I still use a hair dry!!! 😄🤪🤪😋⭐😀🦜
Was it hard for you and your husband to find a place to live? I want to teach in Iceland but it seems like whenever I come across an apartment it turns out to be a hotel or only for short term rentals.
So if an item says input is 110 to 240... (those are my basics phone laptop... battery charger for camera) converter? Or adapter... Coming to iceland next week! Thanks for all your vlogs. It's helped so much. Check out our channel: Travel with the twins kimi and kari

That was actually very useful! Thank you for explaining everything!
acrylic actuated threaded dumbbell with bearings were assumed as fixture sockets 2015 ; great voltage
snap fitment using aesthetic prongs European ; greater voltage

We have seen many available with a switch for 220/110, and they don't seem to be much more expensive than standard ones

I used the YUBI adapter, off Amazon. They come in a 2 pack....worked great the 2 times in Iceland :)
Thanks for sharing! :)
thanks! this was super useful!
Glad it was helpful!
Can i use my US hair straightener (110-240v) with this adapter that you linked?
Good vid. Im from Iceland and when I go to the US I take an adapter, Luckily most gadgets are rated for all volts. But any way as you say♦ it is very important to look at this if you don't want to fry your phone.
My favorite travel adapter for Iceland because it is a multi plug adapter AND has 2 usb plugs for extra charging! amzn.to/2EjtIds
Is this still one you recommend??
What happens if u plug a dual voltage curling iron into a convertor?

Do you have any tips on rental cars? As gas as things like insurance. Is the sand and gravel and ash insurance needed ?
Excellent!

Hello Jeannie! The link doesn't work for me either. I plan on going there March 22 for a week - your site has been so useful!
Sorry about that Nicole, thanks for letting me know. I just updated the link in the description!

Try 4.8mm plug if 4.0mm plug loose on 4.8mm outlet. In India, Type D 5.0mm plug electric outlets could fit 4.8mm, but loosen on 4.0mm

Just booked my trip today for beginning of June!! Can you do a video about public parking/how to get around in Reykjavik? Lots of love from Chicago ❤

Thanks for letting me know Haley, just updated the link in the description!
How much cost a Sim card in Iceland???

After the second minute I perceived a different drift to the whole “plug” story 🐿
The Link did not work for me either and I SM Sweden .
Also a video on pets would be useful!
I wish I could shop online I'd buy the best us to Aussie one money could buy
