Steve Wright will forever remind me of my dad. He was a postman so was always finished work and at home when I got in from school. He listened to Steve Wright every day and it was on when I got in ...I'd never heard anything like it and havent since. RIP Steve
Steve Wright dying it’s tragic. I came to live in Australia 🇦🇺 20 years ago and over that time I would always think about Steve and wonder if he was still in radio. This news has deeply saddened me. Kind regards and my thoughts are now with his family, the British public who listened to him.Ian from QLD Australia 🌻
Steve's afternoon show used to crease me up during the 80's & 90's. All the characters like LLamaman, Rotarians, Captain Fishy (how did they get away with that one?!), Mr Mad, Gervais the hairdresser, keith richards and mick jagger...keep your tongue out!!!!
Mark and lard copied Steve’s innovation of characters with ‘mustn’t grumble’ on radio 1 during 2000 / 2002. Steve was a radio legend who will be sadly missed. RIP Steve
@stonewinners Linda Lust! rofl. Yes, Steve's show was brilliant, I agree and like Bagzie I loved Mr Pervee too. So funny and let's not forget Mr Spoons. :)
@stonewinners Yes, his show was very close to the knuckle, but on Radio 2 now he's a little bit lightweight. Radio 1 is a bit too geared to crap music and getting listener's to give them material for their show. Do you remember the Geordie song about food? And voiceover man? I wish there were more complete shows posted on here..

Talked over every record he played. Knew nothing about music, never mentioned the artist, just used the records as an excuse to interrupt with more banal prattle.
@@aid901 Ok, name one record he played in full without interrupting and talking over. What did he know about music...nothing. When did he ever mention it? Say he liked a record?. I heard him once talking over Knopfler's superb second solo in Sultans Of Swing, for as I said banal prattle. He and music had nothing in common...he ruined everything he played.
That’s not true - not a bleeding word of it , not true at all - none of it. Saying stuff like that makes me so angry, so Angry, SO ANGRY I COULD THROW ME iPHONE DOWN!!!
@@kasimsultonfan I don't know what you mean by trolling, it was how I genuinely feel about Mr Wright's shows. Loved it when Sid came on. Used to sit at home after school listening to Steve feeling better about life. Loved the way Sid ended with "hello?"
"Yes yes yes, boy. Don't get lost or killed."
Brilliant! I could absolutely hear his voice reading that. Thanks.@@mightybeanstick9872

That's the original Sid voice.
I remember it well in 1980 to be precise !
