Jerry Schef, the bass player, also played for the Doors on one of their studio albums. The Doors never toured with a bass player, so they had studio sit ins.
One of my most favorite songs. I wonder how many times I've said that? LOL Absolutely nothing on this earth compares to watching an Elvis performance. The song's great on the record, but watching Elvis sing it live is extraordinary. You can't take your eyes off him, always watching for every little nuance, or gesture. Love, love, love it.
Besides the voice and the looks - the magnitude of showmanship is amazing. He also does "fever" in this concert. Its an old song but it's such a sexy performance and its fun to see how amused Elvis gets at the audience reaction. Fever is also worth listening to on the 1960 Elvis is Back album. Love the reaction!
Elvis was always nervous at first but once he warmed up and found his groove he would burn down the house. It's very apparent in this show. You could see his nerves during the first few songs then once he felt the support from the crowd he smashed the rest of the show.......Of course performing for a billion people would shake ANYONE....
The ladies would wait for every little movement , every little twitch when he performed ... OMG , that man was amazing ! At age 80 , I still get chills just watching him ... he had something that is impossible to describe ... way beyond pure talent ! God rest his beautiful soul !
Lord Have Mercy! Lol doesn't matter how many times I hear and watch him....its just NEVER gets old. He oozed sexiness. I also love your reaction!!! So fun😊 TCB ⚡👑🌹
Yes Mike everybody was feeling this one!! Right in the beginning after he took the drink of water and the band started his head went back when he felt the beat. Someone said they thought he sang with his face...every facial twitch...lip curl ...smile..adds charisma to whatever song he sings. So glad you enjoyed this one!! 💕🌻
Isn`t it amazing how many fantastic Elvis performances there are where he is not singing one of his hits, but rather a song he likes himself. This is why I`ve said when dealing with Elvis it`s not a rabbit hole, it`s a mine shaft. And your mining for pure gold. Great reaction Mike I had a feeling you would like this one.
Never Get tired of his Aloha 1973 concert. Two songs that don't get a lot of play time from this concert 1)Fever 2) Welcome to my world.... Thanks Mike 😀
hi mike! wow incredible insight on your part concerning the bass & the doors because jerry scheff elvis' bass player actually played with the doors on la woman so it is actually him here & in that lol jim morrison being a massive elvis fan & elvis being a huge influence on him when they were getting ready to do la woman jim was in rough shape & not really into it so to perk him up & spark his interest they went to jerry scheff and asked him to come record with them because they knew how much jim would be hyped for it! lol wow that connection you made right away is incredible!!
Glad you enjoyed this awesome song. How much Elvis loved it is written all over his face. Awesome solos from James Burton (guitar) and Glen D Hardin on Piano. Glen did most of the musical arrangements for Elvis during the Vegas/concert years.
Thank you Mike for another great reaction, love this song, brilliant concert, sexist man that ever lived, his vocals outstanding charisma oozed from him,😊😊❤❤
Mike, we feel like we won the lottery when you choose one of our requests, so I wait patiently because your doing fine when you choose. Great reaction,
I think you’d love Milkcow blues boogie by Elvis, as a younger fan of Elvis that song conjures a mental image for me of young Elvis with his guitar and his suit shaking as he moves has a great flow to it too
Han sido más de dos meses en mi salud se resentido 😢y tus vídeos me han ayudado mucho gracias por ser un buen hombre por respetar al comentar thanks thanks very much 😏👑
Funny this song was from the great James Taylor, who actually wrote the Song as a funny parody of rock songs during a rehearsal. Elvis picked it up and made it a classic and a sexy one at that. Elvis could sing anything. Love it, thanks Mike you are always on point.😍
As you said in another reaction, Elvis is a conduit for the music, and you totally see that here. He recognised that both he and the band were on fire and, once he relaxed (because who wouldn't be nervous about a worldwide broadcast), he was completely in command doing what came naturally. I remember being really annoyed when I learned the UK wouldn't be showing this live. Totally worth the licence fee (which of course I wasn't paying because I was only 11).
Beyond greatness❤ Recommending "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" live Vegas 1970 "I Was The One " 1970 rehearsal (short video) and song performance at Dorsey Bros Stage Show 1956 "Love Me Tender" live Vegas 1970😊❤ Appreciate you so much. Thanks 😊
To think this was going out all over the world, the only thing with the aloha is he never moved much, it could of been down to nerves, losing a lot of weight fast, timing, but those moves whernt there! THE MOST CHARISMATIC MAN 👌👍
As a big “Doors” fan,(Not near Elvis level)I’m surprised that I never picked up on that vibe with this song. Of course Elvis breaks out with the big vocals, which Jim never had. Thanks for sharing! TCB⚡️
Hi Mike, thanks for doing this powerful bluesy gem. The entire show is an epic milestone of live concert music, first show that was beamed via satellite in 40 countries all over the world. Seen by 1.5 billion people. Still another record till today. MIKE, WOULD YOU REACT TO uptempo song PATCH IT UP, live 1970 (the first complete version!). Thank you.
Great review Mike Maybe mentioned here already, but "Steamroller Blues" was written as a parody by James Taylor to make fun of what he thought were "fake" blues songs being written at the time. over 1 billion saw this live to tv audiences globally except (BBC). I remember as a young lad wishing I could have seen it. It was played weeks later on terrestrial TV. Elvis weight had always fluctuated mainly from his mothers side, but he dramatically slimmed down for this occasion. From this point until his death he gained weight and unfortunately went into a demise. Its great to see new audiences appreciate how great Elvis was light years ahead, even today if he was magically transported into todays era he would be just as popular. Even some of the lesser known songs I am sure if re released would be hits.
hey Mike...great one once again. as a lifetime Elvis fan i would recommend a few songs for you to enjoy. Just Pretend - live 1970 bridge over troubled water - live 1972 (on tour) pieces of my life - a song thats in fact about his life
Hey Mike and Hannah, I remember this Sunday night like yesterday , he gave All proceeds to the cancer center, this concert was shown via satellite to over 40 countries around the World, another first doing that, it was watched by more people than the first time Man walked on the moon, and it was the year before I had the greatest dream ever when I was only 11 years old and I will never forget that day, Elvis can touch you like no other artist ever or ever will, I would love to send you money for the pay palb, can't afford it, I just wanted to ask you to react to the audio version of Loving Arms, I watch you All the time and it's a pleasure and I am so proud to have found the Greatest Entertainer ever as well as the Beautiful MAN Among Men Elvis who is still impacting the world 48 years later, Thanks again. TCB 1935
Elvis looks great, but it was not easy for him. He was told that in order for him to look better on the TV screen, he needs to lose a few extra pounds. And he was on a diet of 500 kcal a day. Can you imagine, it's just horror 😧 for a man like him. By the time of the broadcast, Elvis was tired and exhausted physically and emotionally 🤯, but he did it.
Hey Mike. Please review some of his sit down performances from the 1968 comeback special. “Trying to get to you”. “One night with you”. Baby what do you want me to do”. So good!
Mike, as for your comment about the bass line and the Door's " L A Woman ", Elvis's bassist, Jerry Scheff, was the bass player on that Album ... great spot !!
Interesting, that you think of "the doors": Jerry Scheff, the bassist, was recruited for the LA Woman album by the doors 😀 . So it's him you hear in every track there: Riders on the storm, LA Woman ......
Have you done “American Trilogy”from this concert? What about “What Now My Love? “” Or, “This Time You Gave Me a Mountain? All from the Aloha concert that was the first world wide event done by satellite. At that time we had 4.0 billion people in 1973 and 1.5 billion people watched this concert all over the world. I know there were many songs but these have become classics.
This is a parody of typical east coast middle class white kids pretending to be bluesmen in their wannabe bands. Thus the exaggerated lyrics! Elvis sings it with tongue firmly in cheek. But the beauty is, even if you don't care for the parodic elements, the singing is excellent enough to entertain.
One of the few Elvis songs I cannot stand. The disgusting lyrics ruins the song for me: "I am a napalm bomb, garanteed to blow your mind". Bass player Jerry Scheff also played bass on LA Woman by The Doors.
I’ve never seen a face as captivating as his. I’m still hypnotized by it after 47 years. He looks like he really had fun with this one too.
He will never be surpassed .
There’s nobody like Elvis never will be anybody like Elvis just look at that face. Just listen to that voice. God made him perfect.
Totally agree, that smile gets me every time,😊😊😊❤
Love. Elvis is perfection. Love it when he sings the blues. And love it that you recognize his brilliance.
Jerry Schef, the bass player, also played for the Doors on one of their studio albums. The Doors never toured with a bass player, so they had studio sit ins.
He never disappoints!!!
You nailed it sir. Elvis' bass player Jerry Scheff (1969-77) played on some Doors' albums.
I have about 300 favorite Elvis songs. 😂
👑✌️
👌🏼👏🏻 THE KING
Wow ,Elvis is one gorgeous ,and sexiest looking man ,not to mention his voice ,sets my heart ,and fire ❤
Besides the voice and the looks - the magnitude of showmanship is amazing. He also does "fever" in this concert. Yes, yes, yes. I'm 84, saw him in concert in Vegas and in Philly, I'll never forget.
No one can compare to Elvis❤️
The bass player, Jerry Scheff, did the bass playing on LA Woman with the doors...
No autotune. No lipsyncing. Pure talent. Listen to Let Me Be There live from Memphis from March of 1974. Ronnie Tutt on drums is totally on fire!
Lord Have Mercy! Lol doesn't matter how many times I hear and watch him....its just NEVER gets old. He oozed sexiness. I also love your reaction!!! So fun😊 TCB ⚡👑🌹
HE IS STILL THE BEST SINGER IN THE WORLD 🌎 ❤️ 💙 ♥️ 💕 💖 🌎 ❤️ 💙 ♥️ 💕 💖 🌎 THAT IS WHY HE IS THE KING 🌎 ❤️ 💙 ♥️ 💕 💖
Mike I almost spit my coffee out laughing when you called Elvis a multitasker, so funny. Another great reaction
Hot! Elvis could do it all. This one is right up there on my list.
Yes Mike everybody was feeling this one!! Right in the beginning after he took the drink of water and the band started his head went back when he felt the beat. @@adammashoon4665absolutely agree John ..it's a mine shaft!
Definitely a Top 50-100 Elvis song. I've always loved this one.

The lyrics are gold. :) And Elvis' delivery is the besttttt Of course Elvis makes it so fun
Jerry Scheff the bass player actually recorded with The Doors
Here Elvis Presley is super sexy is fire...

THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER THAT WILL EVER LIVE!!!!!!!!!! A God among men a gift to us all from GOD HIMSELF.

Sort of like “Roadhouse Blues”!

A great blues parody song written by James Taylor.
Great review Mike

Amazing.
Boy did he ever💓💓💓💓💓😊
EP was a leader/pioneer in funk sound in the 60s, few people know that
Another request, when I'm over you, the undubbed version 👌👍
He is sexy man. He ever walks this earth. GOD KNOWS HOW MAKE SUPERSTAR ❤❤

So glad you liked this one - R&B is not everyone's cup of tea but the way Elvis sings he can make you love any genre of music 👑💛⚡
hey Mike...great one once again.

❤ Elvis.
This song was written by James Taylor. Elvis' version is by far the best.
Great insightful review as always Mike. Just realised at the end he says whoa ..mother! 😆
Hey Mike. Please review some of his sit down performances from the 1968 comeback special. “Trying to get to you”. “One night with you”. Baby what do you want me to do”. So good!

Hi Nancy...Mike reacted to all 3... brilliant breakdowns too...check his playlist...🌻
If I'm right the bass player played with the doors 🤔
Hi Mike. Give “Where did they go lord” a listen (not a video, just audio).
Didn't one of those guys play with the doors?
Yes, bass player Jerry Jeff. The blonde one on the left.
Be sure to check out the original by James Taylor.....
Is this the begining of the fat Elvis era and the drug stage of his life?
One of the few Elvis songs I cannot stand. The disgusting lyrics ruins the song for me: "I am a napalm bomb, garanteed to blow your mind". Bass player Jerry Scheff also played bass on LA Woman by The Doors.
