I'm glad Gab played this game, but it's too bad she ran straight through the reset room each time instead of noticing how the woman's portrait gradually changed and new items appeared on the shelves to explain the backstory, I think that's one of the coolest parts of the game- the integration of spot the difference game and a storyline isn't very common. Usually the pretense of these games is pretty flimsy so I liked the attention to detail that the devs put in.
There’s some lore by the loos at the starting area as you complete the 1st run. If you want the short story: Basically, the landlady, Clare, was in an unloving marriage and fell in love with a patron who fancied her. Her husband found out and eventually became sure of it. So, he kills her in the cellar with the bell used to call closing time. Clare haunts the pub. You play as her. Eventually, she realises her situation and that she is trapped. She continues in the loop until either all anomalies are found or you do a second run. After which her murderer is caught and she can ascend. The painting seems to have been done by Charlie (taking into account the words on it after the first run).
46:55 So I figured out the "Lofty Gaze" anomaly. Pause the video after Gab turns from the painting of the woman and is facing the bar. It's peering from behind the pillar that is in front of the window.
@@Elysium_the_Bard So interesting what things pop out to people (or not). Every time this one happened my mind was screaming the whole place looked wrong but Gab didn't ever see it.
@@Hoodprincess096 The only real good view of it is around 46:56 , my original timestamp ( 46:55 ) just gives time for people to pause their videos. Gab will be staring at pictures on the wall, then turn to face the window and bar, before facing the bar completely. You want to pause when the bar and the window are both on the screen. In front of the window and to the right of it there will be a pillar that goes from floor-to-ceiling. At the top of that pillar you will should see it. If you still can't see it, then start at 46:31 when Gab enters the maid's side of the pub and keep your eye on the top of that pillar for anything looking back at you.
One neat thing: There's actually more story that Gab didn't see because she treated the green room as a "pass through" space (not surprising, given the training received from so many other anomaly games). If you want more context, Julia over at Secret Sleepover Society did look at the items appearing on the bookshelf in there!
@@smthqueer2869 you can watch Fooster’s playthrough. He reads all the lore and somehow manages to get most of the major scares fast XD. She continues in the loop until either all anomalies are found or you do a second complete run. At that point her murderer is caught, and she is able to ascend. Charlie, her lover, painted the painting in the reset hallway.
Bear in mind that I’m writing this whilst I’ve just started watching. But this could be the Ten Bells Pub that was often frequented by women who were the victims of Jack the Ripper. I walk past it all the time in East London and it’s often a popular spot for historical crime buffs.
Yep! I've visited there and been inside it. Most of the tiles on the walls are original to the time it happened. The rest of the pub has been updated/restored.

Okay, only about 23 minutes in but I find it hilarious how Gab was like, "I wonder if the bartender ever does something" and then five minutes later it happens lol
I watched someone else play this game and the slime books attacked them (they fell in front of them); also, I'm not sure if you saw them but at the place where her portrait was (with the list of anomalies) there were items on the bookshelves explaining who the characters were and why the bartender killed his wife
At home, the hospital, the store, the campus, and even the hotel during vacation, wherever you go anomalies seem to follow, things just a bit out of place from where they should be. Now, you can't even take a moment in the pub without more anomalies popping up. Such is the life of the observant; it is the duty.
That was a great game. I really like the anomaly games that include a story, and this one was very sad (partly because stuff like it happens all the time, even now). Plus some of the scares were legitimately creepy, and made me jump more than once. Thanks for playing this! It was fun.
not sure if Gab noticed but there is a story attached to this as well, you get more pieces of it as you keep going on through out on the bookshelf there are little news clippings, and letters, and all that that explains what happened and why she was murdered

A bit confused about the "Interior Rotation" anomaly - on a wiki it lists each anomaly and what it does, and this one says that the barmaid's side of the pub will have red walls instead of green walls. Yet when this one counted, the barmaid's side still had green walls? Huh?
The walls are still the same colour, they just rotated and scaled up the pattern on them. I noticed because the shadows and highlights are much brighter on the rotated wallpaper.
