CrispyPie Well, McMillen (one of the original heads in Team Meat and behind Super Meat Boy( is absent from this. McMillen left and made Isaac, then The End is Nigh.
Then as for the reason it was "supposed" to be for mobile. It'd be a port to mobile. I like the return of Meat Boy and I hope it's tough as nails like the original.

I can't believe this game is randomly constructed. The whole point with the original game was that it was difficult and rewarded you by improving your skill. I think they're really missing the mark here without Edmund.

Andre Sharper-clark I find it rather disturbing. I like they made him have attacks, but, in the first game he was so peaceful. The only person he attacked was Dr. Fetus. So seeing him so violent, yeah. I'm a tad bit concerned for his mental health.

Oooo idk about this... I'm a huge meatboy fan as well as all of Edmund's other games, but something about this feels off. the whole point of meat boy was that you could run, jump, and that was it there were no attacks it was just you, and something about the deaths don't feel as impactful as they did. I really hope I'm wrong and this turns out to be a great *spinoff? *

Hmm. I didn't expect Edmund McMillen's absence to be so blatantly obvious, but it really, really is. RIP.
actually edmund mcmillen is directly working on this game. he isnt absent at all. the art direction and gameplay is just different from the original game. though i dont imagine the game will look of feel as unpolished as it does right now.

Skyking549 no way this game releases without super tight controls. The team knows a good controlling character is what makes levels fun even when they're tough as nails.
Skyking549, Edmund has stated several times on Twitter that he and Tommy are working independently. Even without that direct confirmation though, I think it's still really obvious. SMB may have been one of Edmund's most "acceptable" works, but it still was far more transgressive and stylish than this milquetoast trailer.

I was hoping for a port of the original at the very least, but this is a disappointment in my eyes, and I'm a big fan of the original and completed it wanting more.

YES! SuperMeatBoy ftw, and cant wait to play new one, especially on a Nintendo console.
Oh and everybody thats saying 'this is just a runner game' dont be so daft, its obviously showing just 1-2 levels, of the dozens if not hundreds it will have, the original Flash game & later the PC release both started like this too, where you had to just time jumps, but pretty quickly after you'll be timing all movement inputs to get trough a level, if they start by showing the hardest level's in the trailer they will shy away alot of the new generations of gamers that dont understand the fun of challange.

The first game was a platforming game the levels were pretty hard and required a lot of precision. But the levels were really short so you weren't punish that hard when you died.
